I'm looking into buying a keyboard but I don't know either to chose the NP30 or the portable grand. I know the prices are very similar but I would like to get the better one out of the two.
@mayazusue I bought a casio CDP-100 this week and its very cheap and sounds more authentic than the much higher priced keyboards but doesn't have organ voice but the eletric piano sonds better in my oppinion than the yamaha, and doesn't have that annoying ticking sound when you press down the weighted keys which has been said in prior reviews.
@sethfafa great ! thank you , it costs a little expensive here in morocco , but it is cheaper than others ...but i m worried about the electric alimentation !
The sound of the NP30 is so-so, but it's okay for beginners. The only issue is that it uses cheap non-weighted keys, meaning you won't develop finger strength and technique to play a real piano.
I'm not sure if it was just youtube's sucky sound quality, but for some reason the voices sounded a little shallow and... just kind of cheap, but I may be mistaken- Would anyone who owns this piano care to share any thoughts on it? I am thinking on buying a full actioned e-piano under $400 dollars. Any suggestions?
@KirbyPwnz13 the keyaction is so soft, like a toy. hope yamaha made real wood key action like anabtgrand N1 into a lowprice cover like NP-30. no one need an expensive furniture. a NP-30 with GH3 key and halfpedal and string resonace would possible
@araynax People do that when they're playing with feeling and expression. When you put a lot of effort in your body moves a lot when you play. It's funny to see, but it shows the feeling they put into it.
@alsamuef That allows you to play the instrument as you play an acoustic piano. So you (hopefully) get the same tones and dynamics as you hit the keys. If the keys are too light for example, which usually is the case in most cheap-end digital keyboards, you may find it difficult to play piano (soft) and forte (loud) parts of a song as you want to.
Good keyboard, I was about to buy it, but I tried it out and I don't recommend it if you want heavy keys. For about one hundred bucks more I am going to buy the P-85
@khangu262 : Neither. What you are likely hearing is a recording made via the MIDI interface connection. The speakers aren't bad for the money but it won't sound this good.
I think if you're buying a piano like this you'll be mainly interested in the piano sound. If you want organs and synths and strings that sound properly, you'll have to buy a different kind of keyboard
Needs to be around £200-250 ($300-400). I just need a keyboard for in home use, so it doesnt need to be very portable, although i wont be using any stands. I'd prefer a power cable, and i'm not really all that interested in the keyboard containing 100's of instrument sounds. Basic grand piano sounds are all i need.
Can anyone help me with this? i've never really shopped for a keyboard before, so i have basically no idea what i'm doing :\
@rich8642 Its not like that. It DOES have "power cable" but if you for example forget to take it with you somewhere u can also use batteries as energy source. it's worth its price. ;)
I own one of these.. it is brilliant. Good piano sound, VERY LIGHT, it has speakers with fine sound quality. No heavy lifting, you´ll take it with you to the guitar party every time. :)
i can't understand (from my searches) whether the keys "feel" weighted. Can someone describe the feel of them compared to regular keyboards and hammer/weighted keyboards?
I want to buy this piano but im a beginner and play some songs. I at [Music] Lessons practice on keyboards and do my Tests on Pianos. So is it worth to buy this kind :) Thanks for Answering
@kingofkeyboards They don't feel so bad for a cheap keyboard, i actually like the "weighted" action to them. I suppose you might not like it if you grew up on professional pianos, or if your a music snob, "kingofkeyboards"
@RLbitClassica well one you cant judge people off a bloody youtube account name c'mon O_o and two if you ask many other proper players the majority will agree that the keys are pretty cheap quality.
@kingofkeyboards yeah but the goal of this keyboard is portable - weighted keys add a lot of weight. in some cases 'easy to carry' is better than having weighted keys.
With semi-weighted keys, pedal, reverb, piano sounds even better than some acoustic pianos I played. It is also cheap, good for learning, and it is Yamaha. About bad sides some other time.
i have this keyboard is great im a learner dont really understand the dual octave thing havent really tried it but sounds great also i only learned how to change the reverb type which is a great feature
being a learner i didnt really know what to expect from the keyboard but hearing a pro play it i know iv got the right one. thanks great vid
how can i get a hold of this? i can't see any of this product here in my country, Philippines. man.. it's so frustrating.. ordering from from another country sucks too because of that Shipping fee..
Which keyboard stand is being used in this video? It looks like a Yamaha L3C attachable stand but the Yamaha website does not list it as compatible with the NP-30.
