It should be noted that many people with smaller hands have reported inaccuracy with this pistol due to limp wristing. If you run into this problem simply use a lower grain ammo.
I personally use 124 grain ammo, but 115 would be good as well. I've fired 147 grain through it, but it adds a fair amount of kick to the weapon, so remember that before you use it.
With that, I love my P95. Great weapon. 200+ rounds and never a problem.
I am a proud owner of a P-95, I didn't have the break in jam problem with mine. Matter of fact it has never jammed to date, and I am guessing I have thrown over 250 rounds through it.. Yes compared to other pistols its a bit clunkier and takes a little while to get used too. Another poster asked about the safety getting loose, yea mine did as well compared to new. still works as its supposed too. Steel recoil rod helps this pistol a ton, pretty easy gun to stay accurate with om multiple firings.
just bought one, for 350, couldnt pass it up. Run some rounds through it before you decide to carry it for protection! gotta break it in before you rely on it as a weapon! great vid bruh!
niiice. i love rugers. the p95 is one of my favorite 9mms all around. im gonna pick one up in a few days or in a few weeks, i think it would be a sweet range gun just to practice with, even though they are excellent guns for the price anyway
@nickkyson Are you going to carry this gun? If so, they're lighter choices on the market... however, either way HP's are the way to go for protection. FMJ are best for the range but I HIGHLY suggest you shoot whatever ammo you plan to carry in your weapon. The last thing you want to discovery when you need your weapon is that it won't/can't or doesn't like to feed your HP's. Let me know how it works out for you.
I have the same gun with the replaceable panels .They add thickness to the grip. I also removed the mag safety, the clip flies out, and re-assembly is a lot easier. You can find the procedure on u-tube, it's easy.
@breezyatv90 Both! Except get the sigma in a 40cal. They're both around the same price retail and you can own two separate calibers at an inexpensive price. I did a vid comparing these two... feel free to check it out. If you've decided already, let me know your thoughts and how its working for you.
@GunznPoker well now ive been saving a little bit more.. and i am kinda leaning to the glock 19.... but IDK! there is a gun and knife show tomorrow and i will be able to hold and get a feel for all three guns.. so i think that will help alot. i have only shot my little luger 22cal pistol and a M9.
@DarthMartin89 lol... Then I would STRONGLY suggest you stop watching my vids man. The last thing I want you to do is listen so intently that my 'mouth smacking' forces you to commit suicide... I just couldn't bare it.
Nice vid, I own several Ruger products. For their price range it's hard to beat them. I think the magazine release is designed that way to prevent you from accidentally engaging the mag release. My friend has big hands, and he has to be careful where his fingers are on his glock. I've seen him drop the mag on accident during shooting. He doesn't have that problem with his Rugers.
I agree. They're certainly flying past the competition in their price range. I agree with you on the mag release, another tip on the release is one could use their middle finger to activate the mag release. Takes some getting used to but it's quite functional. Thanks for watching and replying.
@GunznPoker You just gave me a flashback! I had a SW99, the mag release was integrated into the trigger guard. I used the middle finger in a downward motion to release the magazine lever. It was awkward I never got use to it, plus the gun was an expensive piece of crap so I traded it in. I enjoy your vids...take care.
Bought one a couple weeks ago, shopped around, $298 New/Display Case (Stainless Slide). 300+ rounds, 1 FTE (my fault), that's it. Takedown can be completed and reassembled in under a minute. LOVE IT!
If memory serves correctly it was right around the 150 mark. Since then I haven't had one issue. And I've put a great deal of rounds down range. I'm sure you'll love yours too. Let me know how it works out for you!
I just trade my buddy two jl audio subs for the P95, it's my first gun ever, he took me out shooting with it 2 weeks ago and fell in love with it. He didn't really cover everything with me, besides break down, but with a live round already in the camber and the hammer cocked, by pressing the safety will it fire? Because of the round in the chamber, and the hammer slamming down, wouldn't it?
@rwoods1985 No. Decocking by pushing the saftey down, engages the saftey before the hammer drops. For carry, load a round in the chamber, then decock by lowering the saftey. Safety firing pin block goes up, then hammer drops -- at this point it's your choice; rely on the saftey, or push the saftey back up & off, and rely on the Double-Action trigger to keep you safe. Just don't think you can carry it with the hammer cocked, because with the decocker function, a cocked hammer means SA only.
Did you do an initial cleaning on it before you took it to the range for the first time? Also, the only problem I've heard about it is it tends to have FTF/FTE with Blazer ammo. Other than that it should be pretty good. I had mine for a while and not a single mess up.
@leeYANGSTA No, I did not. Which was certainly a part of the problem. However I must say, after giving it a good cleaning and getting past the break in point... it has performed flawlessly and has become a range favorite of mine.
Thanks for watching and replying and I'm sorry for the extremely late reply.
@GunznPoker I just bought mine today, Its my first handgun, I haven't taken it to the range YET. But are you saying that the first around 300 rounds its going to be miss behaving..?
Oh yeah, how long have you had it and how many rds do you think you've put through it? Just curious to see if my does the same when I hit your number count.
@GunznPoker ive had mine since summer of 1999. i would say ive shot nearly 2000 rnds or so. it fails to lock back sometimes but thats because of cheap aftermarket mags
@YokoWenis I agree with you there buddy... it just drove me mad because I honestly didn't expect it. Especially not after reading and hearing the rave reviews.
600 rds? That seems like a lot... or are you overly cautious?
@GunznPoker I'm pretty sure the Kimber manual says break-in is 500 rounds. My Keltec said 200 rounds. I usually put at least 300 rounds in each gun when I go shooting, make it worth cleaning ya know. I generally put a high polish dremel job on all my feed ramps too
The P95 was my first firearm. It ran like a tank! It ate everything that I fed it from day one. I had the original model without the stippling and accessory rail. I hate that I sold it. My buddy was more accurate with my P95 the first time he shot it, than he is with his Glock 19 that he has owned for years. But hes a self proclaimed "Glock person" For whatever reason.
Rugers make a hell of a gun I'm suprised you had issues I've yet have a ruger jam on me but ya generally guns you can't knock them till you shoot acouple hundred rounds through em. I'll tell ya Rugers customer service is top knotch to I've screwed up two guns from them, my fault, and sent them back and they coulda charged me but they took care of me. I wouldn't worry bout the polymer frame rails I have a P345 and it rides on polymer to and it's actually a popular service pistol. These are to :)
@mrwhite4 Thanks buddy! I must say it has grown on me a great deal. I like the look and feel of it from the very beginning but the malfunctions were driving me mad. I'm glad I hung in there because now it's showing why it's so reliable...not to mention fun.
@GunznPoker Yeah I usually recommend when someone comes to me and says hey I know your a gun guy I just want a good solid handgun to keep around the house just incase and I don't plan to conceal and carry very often I usually point them to check out a P95, unless they wanna carry then I say the SR9c. Taurus ain't bad eather but imo their guns are not as consistent and I've heard iffy stories on their customer service but I own afew Taurus to, just I tend to steer people to Rugers more.
@GunznPoker shit man, the 2nd? it usually takes me atleast 6-8 takes just to get my shit dialed in. keep it up man.
i know.. that .22 looks to be a whole lot of fun and utility should the shit hit the fan. is prepping more of a hobby for you or do you think we're gonna see an economic collapse here soon enough?
i had a couple of the p 85s over the ears and never cared for them and after bill ruger all but kissed clintons ass over the AWB i washed my hands of anything ruger but if you like them thats all that matters

rule of thumb dont break in a gun with hallow points. 2 slide relase shouldnt be used to chamber a round when new mag is loaded
dedone03 1 month ago
@dedone03 that frame is not made out of plastic. made out of aluminum. mag release are better than 1911 because they cant be accidently released.
