Gigbyte. I've built hundreds. And Gigabyte is by far more stable with respect to bios, features are better as well. However Asus is more for the extreme builder, and someone who doesn't mind tweaking every now and then. Trust me if want a durable, drama free PC gigaybte, even for gaming.

This means he's probably paid to advertise the Gigabyte board as the better product or is at least biased towards the company he works for.
Yes, Gigabyte boards are increasing in quality. My old socket A/462 board was fairly good at the time I got it, lasted me 7 years. I'm using Asus now though just to see what the hype is, so far I've had few/no problems.
gigabyte has completly come out of the hole they were in long ago i put gigabyte boards in everything i built wouldnt have it any other way all boards have been great to me from the ep45ud3p i gave my wife to the x58aud3r im on now never had a prob what so ever gotta say though my ep45ud3p is my fav board just cuz its old fast as hell overclocked for 4 years now still running perfect tech support is great
Asus is garbage. so is there teck support, ill never buy another board ever again. i have been buying asus boards for the last 10 years, but when i called for teck support i had to give the agent a lesson in mannors and rudeness shame this company cant afford to imploy agents with customer service skills. shame
my Gigabyte vs my Asus ........Winner is Gigabtye. is best. it still going 5 years BUT ASUS is crapped, It was blew up about 2 years, I threw it in bin.
@MajorisGaming Ever tried installing a modern Asus board in anything? Admittedly my case isn't the best but that foam layer on the shield makes force much required to get the damn thing in there properly. Performance wise, the board does everything I need it to, no complaints there.
I've owned Gigabtye boards, nForce3 and 570 SLI they both still work and I gave them to family members who use them everyday. My Asus board had the PCI-E slot die. I also have a six year old MSI board I used for my wifes computer, works fine. My mobo I'm using right now is a MSI K9N2 Diamond, it works great everyday. My next mobo will be a MSI or a Gigabyte... I might even go with a DFI if they use a nvidia chipset I like.
GIGABYTE and ASUS put out some dam good boards really cant say a bad thing about the two. if i had to pick one. i guess i whould take gigabyte. the dam thing just looks better.
@madzane94 in each one of your charts your wrong...gigabyte has the slowest chipset on the market, and the more unstable one, gibabite has HUGE driver problems, gibabyte has very few gaming mobo.
Asus and Evga , Msi are the best motherboards producers with the highest high end boards...so before posting a comment read some forums and get informed..
gigabyte components have been maybe slightly better than asus but the Phoenix bios has had and still has some issues which are not in the ami bios. slower boot with raid/ahci enabled, hangs or long post pauses with some hdd.
so while in theory they can cold boot quick in practise if the extra features are used they're anywhere from 4 to 10x slower to boot than ami bios.
if phoenix has re-designed their bios to overcome there limit feel free to comment, haven't seen latest model.
I liked GB and just got an ep45-ds3. Initially the board failed to POST when memory was present in slot 1. After a few boots it started failing no matter where the memory is installed. I traced the problem by removing components leaving only the cpu - with the same result - no POST amd the board power-cycles every 5 or so secs. With the cpu out of the board it does not power cycle. Resetting the cmos didn,t help, and the board does this when out of the case too (so there is no short underneath).
how can u compare the to 2 without switching the other parts from one to the other???? the Asus could have a hoter cpu in it (one that like high voltage) 2 many differents one water cooling setup mit not b run as great
should have tested with using all same part and changing out the mobo ASUS Maximus II Formula P45 way better
to replace the darn capacitors, about 11 of them leaked and swollen with 1 actually fully blown of the pc, that's the second time the Motherboard being the weakest link.
now i can see you tackled this annoying issue with marketing the "durability" boards.
Im looking for a new board and was disappointed that some of the more expensive high end boards (like The DQ6) dont com with wi-fi on board or an error Display.
Although u may feel disappointed with the old generation, but the current Ultra Durable 2 Series will not let u down. The quality components helps overclocking much better than any competitors, but extend the lifespan of the board. There will be 2 models launching in Americas based on Intel X38 in late Sep. So stay tuned.
Since the problems with the last generation of your motherboard, I won't buy a Gigabyte that soon. I'll first wait and see how this new generation that just came out handles and maybe with a X38 chipset...

I've tried with two PSUs one 420W the other 700W with the same result. The cpu is c2 duo e8400.
After searching on the net I found the problem with this boards is fairly common. I hope I can return it to the reseller and get an Asus.

I didn't think you were flaming. Sorry if it came across like that.
Generally the high end asus boards have more features and better overclocking features than high end gigabyte boards.
Although it is kinda funny that the board i have (the gigabyte P35-DS3R) has the highest possible FSB of any board. :)
