  • oh nm lol

  • what race and year?

  • He is so lucky he rolled. Had he not rolled that would have been the end for him for sure.

  • DO A BARREL ROLL!

  • Oh my. I did not like the looks of that.

  • what did jerry punch do? i'm confused

  • @ACDCsuperfan91 Punch used to work at the care center and revived him

  • @88ownsnascar - Not the way I heard it in the press room. Punch has always been a reporter first.

  • I was sitting directly above that section of the track and heard Raymond's car pop a tire and hit the wall. I was looking down the straightaway and turned back to the pop and saw the dust flying up along the wall and saw Raymond's car come off it. I was looking right at the car when Don's car ran into Raymond's and then hit the end of pit wall. It literally took my breath away because Don was a neighbor of mine and I thought the worst had just happened. So good to read he is doing well now!

  • WOW

  • holy shit!! damm... this is the worst crash i ever seen someone survive.

  • I was there and still remember this. My mom still has the photos from this crash, To this day it is still surreal that he made it. He is a really nice guy from what I remember

  • I worked on Dons team and we actually discussed this pit wall. We walked the track the year before this crash and he told me how much he dislike the configuration of that corner. It was spooky to watch this happen. I spoke with his wife recently and she said he is doing ok.

  • oh my goodness. thats a huge crash. Thanks God that both survived.

  • That big a hit and they both survived?! For a second I had a flashback of that one driver who was killed in a similar impact with the wall during a NASCAR Mexico Series race. Good thing this one had a happier ending.

  • @amokachi31 oh my goodness

  • I can't believe i found this. Don is my father- in- law.

I saw an old VHS tape of the wreck years ago.

I've been looking for it to show to his grandkids. My wife suggested you tube. I scoffed.

He lived and is now pushing 60. still working on cars, though now with a limp and with some fucked up shrapnel type scars.

    Thank you Jerry Punch.

  • holy shit

  • That has got to be one of the worst "survived" wrecks there is. Unreal...

  • did anyone die?

  • Did he survive that?

  • holy cow talk about bad timeing

  • dam that was a big hit!

  • Lee Raymond wasn't hurt. However, Don Marmor had no pulse at the scene, but medical workers managed to revive him. By the time Marmor was airlifted from the track he had a pulse, stable blood pressure, and was breathing on his own.

I assume he recovered fully also.

  • you mean jerry punch managed to revive him

  • OMFG! Did he make it thru that one?

  • i sit with lee raymond every friday at kil kare in xenia...he's a great guy

  • sweet

  • HUGE!!!

  • Well then next time you have a drink. Cheers to Dr. Jerry Punch lol.

  • Holy Shit!

  • wow, that looks like rockingham

  • It does look like Rockingham in some ways, but this was actually Atlanta years before the reconfiguration.

  • yes u are right

  • glad hes ok, i raced against him at

santa fe speedway in the old days.

    rik smithberg

  • fatal?

  • It almost was, but he survived. Dr. Jerry Punch played a huge role in saving his life.

  • is that why they call him Dr.? Is he a doctor or did he save his life so they call him that

  • He is a real life doctor, he saved two drivers lives in Nascar, one of which was Rusty Wallace.

  • How?

  • When Rusty had his flip on top of the pit wall at Bristol his breathing was very shallow and he was resuscitated by Jerry Punch.

  • how do you resuscitat some one who is still breathing

  • he was fine actually i'm pretty sure he was the first person at the track the next day.

  • how do u find this?

  • ....damn

  • OH MY FUCKIN GOD!!!

  • That one is soo lucky...

  • He had no pulse after crash, so medics in fact pulled him out of death.

  • jerry punch pulled hi outta death

  • o dang.

  • What a crash!

  • Holy Shit

  • i dont see how anyone can survive that.

  • dang that was a wicked crash

  • Thank God he survived!

  • Dr. Jerry Punch saved his life, along with Rusty wallaces at bristol a few years later. i dont care if he's not the best on ESPN, he's a lifesaver

  • punch saved both mamur and wallace in 1988

  • @burtonfan2 He also saved Ernie Irvan too

  • @AutoRockinRacing94 - Uh, no. "One of the first people to reach the car was speedway doctor John Maino, whom Irvan credits with saving his life."

I can find no record of Jerry Punch being a part of the initial care team.

  • @geek49203 It mentioned something, that's why I brought it up

  • No you're way wrong, sorry. You definitely are not an expert. You're the same asshole that posted on the video of Alexander's crash calling it fake and photoshopped.

  • lmao way to be fucking stupid, you're deffinately wrong bud.

  • ...Blaise Alexander died in 2001, LOL. Nice "research" there buddy.

  • Oh my goodness, where to begin? Your writing style screams Nigerian bank deal, as pointed out B.Alexander died in 2001, and that was at Charlotte from a 45* angle crash into the frontstretch outside wall, no horror flames in either incident, and Alexander was from Pennsylvania.

  • Also DAVID Purley attempted to save the life of Roger Williamson in a fiery F1 crash in 1973. Other than all that you're right on target :-p

  • OK I've seen some of your comments on some other videos, and now realize you're just a turd posting all sorts of grossly inaccurate responses, presumably to get a rise out of everyone. Whatever. Sorry I gave you the satisfaction of my first 2 posts (and, for that matter, this one).

  • You're such an idiot... I just went through fixing ALL your mistakes on the Mickey Hudspeth crash...

Blaise Alexander died in 2001 at Charlotte. Dan Purley stopped his vehicle in an attempt to save the life of Roger Williamson during an F1 crash back in 1973 at Zandvoort where Williamson's car burst into flames.

  • alexanders car didnt go on fire im pretty sure it was earnhardts car and it was 2001

  • both cars caught on fire

  • It is crazy that this video made it onto Youtube. It is even more crazy that my mother found it. Don Marmor is my father and I am happy to report that he his happy and healthy. Thank you Dr. Jerry Punch!!!

  • awesome, good to hear he made it outta this one!

  • Hello marmor50!

Im so glad your dad survived that horrible accident. I love building nascar models and over the past month, have become very interested in ARCA (but only from 1981 to 1994). The reason I only like ARCA, NASCAR etc from this era is because I don't like the cars from '95 onwards. I prefer the old "boxy" stockcars! Anyway, do you have a pictures of your dad's car because I am interested in building a model of it! I will have to make my own decals since none exist. Let me know!

  • Glad to hear that. That was one viscous hit he took into the pit wall. How long did your dad race ARCA?

  • Nice to hear that he's okay. It's strange that in some Nascar videos, or any other videos, a family member or someone who knows the person uses youtube.

  • This is Don Marmor and Lee Raymond at Atlanta in 1988. Marmor suffered numerous injuries in the crash, including many broken and lost teeth, facial injuries, and a closed head injury. He never raced again, but did attend many ARCA races in 1989.

  • While my old man was messed up pretty good, all of his teeth were intact. Just to keep the record correct.

  • Good to hear...I thought I remembered from a SpeedWeek report shortly after that Don had lost or broken some teeth. I stand corrected. Nice to hear that your father is doing okay all these years later.

  • I believe I was at this race at Charlotte. He hit the water barells and I got some of hte water on my glasses.Wow.

  • Too bad this was at Atlanta.

  • holy shit :\

  • holy...

  • When was this?

  • 1988. It was the November ARCA race at Atlanta.

  • wow! i have never seen that crash before

    terrible impact

  • Damn!!!!!!!

That was just all of a sudden for that car that hit the pit wall

  • That looked unsurvivable. Is that a word? Not sure, but that was as bad as it gets.

  • It's been a long time since I saw a wreck that actually made me go "Holy SHIT!" out loud, but this one did. I love seeing old ARCA stuff like this! Glad the drivers were fine.

  • OMG, hard impact!

  • That's bad!

    What happened to the driver?

  • Dr Jerry Punch saved his life, along with the lives of Rusty Wallace & Ernie Irvan.

  • The Busch Series commentator?

  • Dr Jerry Punch, trackside paramedic & announcer... Absolutely.

  • How did Jerry save Ernie? The only thing I can think of would be Michigan 1994 practice, but the track guys would of got to him way before Jerry could of.

  • 1st part: You are correct sir. The whole crew did a tremendous job. In the infield/medical center.

  • jerry did a tremendous job
