I was sitting directly above that section of the track and heard Raymond's car pop a tire and hit the wall. I was looking down the straightaway and turned back to the pop and saw the dust flying up along the wall and saw Raymond's car come off it. I was looking right at the car when Don's car ran into Raymond's and then hit the end of pit wall. It literally took my breath away because Don was a neighbor of mine and I thought the worst had just happened. So good to read he is doing well now!
I was there and still remember this. My mom still has the photos from this crash, To this day it is still surreal that he made it. He is a really nice guy from what I remember
I worked on Dons team and we actually discussed this pit wall. We walked the track the year before this crash and he told me how much he dislike the configuration of that corner. It was spooky to watch this happen. I spoke with his wife recently and she said he is doing ok.
That big a hit and they both survived?! For a second I had a flashback of that one driver who was killed in a similar impact with the wall during a NASCAR Mexico Series race. Good thing this one had a happier ending.
Lee Raymond wasn't hurt. However, Don Marmor had no pulse at the scene, but medical workers managed to revive him. By the time Marmor was airlifted from the track he had a pulse, stable blood pressure, and was breathing on his own.
While details remain fuzzy about this American stock car circuit horror crash, this much I have found; the driver striking the autosport rubber insolation devices, is Blaise Alexander. The young Brit lost his life tragically here, but kudos to autosport competitor Dan Purley, for stopping race vehicle, in attempt to save Alexander from the horror flames, that consumed this race car, moments after video's end. Godpseed to the Alexander.
No you're way wrong, sorry. You definitely are not an expert. You're the same asshole that posted on the video of Alexander's crash calling it fake and photoshopped.
Oh my goodness, where to begin? Your writing style screams Nigerian bank deal, as pointed out B.Alexander died in 2001, and that was at Charlotte from a 45* angle crash into the frontstretch outside wall, no horror flames in either incident, and Alexander was from Pennsylvania.
OK I've seen some of your comments on some other videos, and now realize you're just a turd posting all sorts of grossly inaccurate responses, presumably to get a rise out of everyone. Whatever. Sorry I gave you the satisfaction of my first 2 posts (and, for that matter, this one).
You're such an idiot... I just went through fixing ALL your mistakes on the Mickey Hudspeth crash...
Blaise Alexander died in 2001 at Charlotte. Dan Purley stopped his vehicle in an attempt to save the life of Roger Williamson during an F1 crash back in 1973 at Zandvoort where Williamson's car burst into flames.
It is crazy that this video made it onto Youtube. It is even more crazy that my mother found it. Don Marmor is my father and I am happy to report that he his happy and healthy. Thank you Dr. Jerry Punch!!!
Im so glad your dad survived that horrible accident. I love building nascar models and over the past month, have become very interested in ARCA (but only from 1981 to 1994). The reason I only like ARCA, NASCAR etc from this era is because I don't like the cars from '95 onwards. I prefer the old "boxy" stockcars! Anyway, do you have a pictures of your dad's car because I am interested in building a model of it! I will have to make my own decals since none exist. Let me know!
Nice to hear that he's okay. It's strange that in some Nascar videos, or any other videos, a family member or someone who knows the person uses youtube.
This is Don Marmor and Lee Raymond at Atlanta in 1988. Marmor suffered numerous injuries in the crash, including many broken and lost teeth, facial injuries, and a closed head injury. He never raced again, but did attend many ARCA races in 1989.
Good to hear...I thought I remembered from a SpeedWeek report shortly after that Don had lost or broken some teeth. I stand corrected. Nice to hear that your father is doing okay all these years later.
It's been a long time since I saw a wreck that actually made me go "Holy SHIT!" out loud, but this one did. I love seeing old ARCA stuff like this! Glad the drivers were fine.
How did Jerry save Ernie? The only thing I can think of would be Michigan 1994 practice, but the track guys would of got to him way before Jerry could of.

I can't believe i found this. Don is my father- in- law.
I saw an old VHS tape of the wreck years ago.
I've been looking for it to show to his grandkids. My wife suggested you tube. I scoffed.
He lived and is now pushing 60. still working on cars, though now with a limp and with some fucked up shrapnel type scars.
Thank you Jerry Punch.
