yeah its a great piece of german engineering! normal driving 100% rear wheel drive, if it detects just a little wheelspin it engages 65% rear and 35% front, but if there´s still more wheelspin it engages 50-50.. just amazing!
@coolakiIlen007 It didn´t work in reality, only in theory. You can still read it in newsarchives how Mercedes-engineers laughed at quattro first in 1981. But then they had to come up with something because the marketingguys demanded it. I once compared the W124 4matic with a quattro on and off the road, and the Merc failed utterly.
@HarbiOverdrive well to be honest, Mercedes isnt really made for offroading, but still do fine with rear wheel drive in my opinion. ;) ive got a w123 240D -83 goes fine in snow here in Sweden, when most people stay at home cus they cant use their koreans.
