When I was growing up (1946 - 58) that was all farm, mostly onions, and diagonally across the street from Green Lake, the swimming pool, and Forest Preserve. I lived in the Jeannette Subdivision, 1 block in from Michigan City Road, on Virginia Street, about halfway between Burnham and Torrance. I've found my house on the net. The USGS topo map shows an entirely different neighborhood, and I found my original house on it. I also found the house I moved to in Lansing on the same map!
