Well, for the Oscars, just because you submit your name for one category doesnt mean you will be placed in that category. Oscar voters can but an actor into any category they want. So it is possible that she was submitted as supporting in The Reader and leading in Revolutionary Road, and the voters placed her in the leading category for both. And since at the Oscars an actor cant be nominated twice in the same category, maybe the performance that got the most votes was nominated.
