  • straight out of high school?

    Liberal arts?

    Jesus H Christ woman!

  • I hope I'm never operated on in a room where that much germ-laden hair is exposed!

  • dont hesitate to ask potential employees for references. I learned the hard way.

  • @anthonymoore001 can you elaborate? do you know you need connections to get a job?

  • How did this fat chick get in?

  • Big assistant woman! operation ;(

  • This is a terribly done interview .

  • first you can't be just out of high school and get in a program... thats impossible then next who cares about what they call us !! WE KNOW OUR MEDINCINE AND GUESS WHAT.... once they are in front of me in pain well i make them feel better. thats all they care about

  • @marieclaudefrench There are some "3-3" programs that are possible to start right out of high school that entail both undergrad and grad school. Maybe that's what she was referring to.

  • For the record it is Physician Assistant.

  • thank you!!!

  • The S implies ownership. That's why the PA community is so up in arms about it. The term assistant doesn't do justice to the profession, either. I know it's the standard way to which they are referred, but it just doesn't cut it when accurately describing the job duties.

  • Please, please, please take the dang "S" out of Physician"S" Assistant...

  • Its Physician Assistant

  • Thanks walledp.

  • For the reporter; The correct terms are Physician Assistant. Not Physician's Assistant. Thanks.

  • LOL. It's kind of like the difference between Assistant Regional Manager or Assistant to the Regional Manager.

  • not really. physician assistants are healthcare professionals, most with masters degrees now. they train under an abbreviated medical school model, rotating through all the specialties like med students. alot of physician assistants had significant clinical experience before hand, whether it be paramedic or respiratory therapist. I will say the title physician assistant is very misleading on how much expertise the professionals actually have

  • @jamasama28 Hahaha, this is exactly what I tell people. It makes a difference!

  • still not physician

  • no one said they were

  • And most of them really don't care. They practice medicine, albeit under someone else's license and liability, though many of the PA's can kick the stuffing out of USMLE (and use USMLE exam prep materials to get ready for PANRE) and some PA's are even much more talented and know more than some MD's, depending on how experienced they are. Many seasoned PA's can make residents look like idiots in comparison. About 90 percent of the time, I'm more than satisfied to have a midlevel treat me.

  • To be clear, PAs practice under their own medical license.

  • That is correct. But they work under MD supervision. Sorry for the misstatement.
