Very good rhythm and that´s what Irish Music is all about. A lot of people forget this and think it´s about fitting as many notes as possible with as much ornamentation as possible in as little time as possible. The end result has thus one important factor missing - music.
hey, I've repeatedly heard things about the alba being tough to push into the high B and above range. Is that true, or is only a minor thing? (because I will be pushing it up there frequently in my playing)
How does the breath requirement in the upper range compare to the susato low D? (what I have now)
I've got a susato low D too, and I had the chance to compare it with several metal whistles, and I've never found a whistle that requires more air than the susato whistle. Metal whistles are easier to play, require less air, and respond better. So I don't think there is any difference between all these metal whistles and the alba whistle.
Susato whistles require more air, because of their material. It is harder to get a tone out of plastic than out of metal, no matter what kind of shape.
Lovely, great rythm. Are you self taught? I've never seen someone playing the low whistle with their finger pads not being on the holes before, but it obviously works well for you!
thanks. That's becuause I'm six foot seven inches tall and have huge hands. Also, play the bansuri with the hariprasad chaurasia grip and am used to holding large flutes that way. Nice observation!
Smashing bit of playing - love the whistle! I'm getting an Alba low D myself and its in my house but its a birthday present so have a few weeks to wait arg.
Is this ALBA VIBE ???
