i lived in thorton heath in 93 and it was pathetic to watch rich white kids mimicing these guys. haha wicked raw thats all i heard for 2 years. but jungle wouldnt be what it is now without them. god bless them. now im back on the west coast of canada and llivershot your wrong. there are lots of musicians here doing all sorts of footwork creating scenes that will probably go nowhere but they are definatly arsed to do it. just ignorant to think otherwise.
anyone know the tune in the background at 4.01? the one that mikey de-underground speaks over. i know it but can't think, maybe on the E records label or ibiza records??
"totally new music" a point that I think was lost on a lot of people, this is dance music that marked a definitive break from all of the American post-disco EDM styles that came before it, and it could only have happened in London, Jungle was a completely new form of music, it wasn't simply a mash-up of rare groove, soul, and reggae, it's the product of all that, coming together in one unique package. Such a pity it became so formulaic, pity also that the dull 2 & 4 dNb took over.
that sounds about right, i just copy pasted the tracklist from the site (jungletekno) where i first saw the video, never tried to update it fromt he way it was ;)
ha ha, it's weird.... i keep coming across dickheads like yourself. who secretly LOVE black culture, don't want to loss face when they're 'dan the boozer' with their Boys...I surprised you can even write though. Congrats, sincerely!!!!! you learned more than I though in you 8 days a school. Good luck with the shelve stacking career by the way. You funny, funny guy, you!! ha ha.
dude i dont care if my job was to sort out rubbish at the dump coz u live in england and i lived there last year and no place or no job is worse than that depressing shit hole. I have been to third world countries that i would rather live in than england. Not to mention u filthy cunts only shower once a week.
ok.........blah, blah.....BLAAAH! I HAVEN'T GOT TIME TO BICKER WITH AN INTERNET GANGSTA. I HAVE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO TO OCCUPY MY TIME. HAVE A NICE LIFE...............
As it means sooo much to you to have the 'last word'. please feel free. Mommy may reward you with milk and cookies like the cute lil child you are. Good bye........
haha they'd kick yur ass. What do you think all that footwork and hand movement is for? I wish we had an anti racist action round here. I'd luv to stop some Nazis
Cheers for this H4NDCRAFTED, watched it so many times. I love how they talked about it being street music, so fucking true, I feel like it's that vibe thats missing now, it's turned DOA cocksniffs arguing over something being "neurofunk" or "techstep". Tsk.
Maaaan, I have been searching for this since time! I used to have this one vid taped off ch4, i think it was during a season called 'black xmas', but this programme is the shit... Kenny Ken has got the wisdom, Navigator talking bout 'we are ie', wicked programme, nice one for posting... and i fucking love the bit where Navigator and i think the ragga boys are in a car and some guy goes 'are you Ratpack', hahahaha, funny shit! Right, time to roll some kush for this nostalgia trip, cheers
I shall elaborate on this vid in a moment - i am havin someting to eat! - bearing in mind....what u see here is not new - it all stems from Reggae music and soundsystems from back in da 80's - which one of you people remember when acid house reach london from chicago in 87?...its a natural progression in musicality! - it come and go,,,
I was bussing move to UNITY HI POWER in 85....who are unity hi power???? - this is where i met flinty badman and demon Rockers!..2 soundman - just like me:)
@avidmc1 Roni didn't start doing his live stuff till a couple of years after this, in the Reprazent days. At the point when this documentary was made, Roni had only really done a couple of tunes - Music Box and Timestretch. He hit ther big time in a slightly later period.
@CoolPizzaTown Yeah I was thinking of 'Radio 1 Night' on BBC2 which was on a Saturday night in 1997. They showed Roni Size live at Maida Vale and Westwood's show too.
Watched this when it originally aired on tv, got a copy on video under lock & key. Best documentary about the original jungle scene. Peace, Love & Unity- a London sumting dis!
Saw this when it was 1st broadcast & got this on video myself under lock & key. Nice one for the upload, this is THE documentary to watch about original jungle- a London sumting dis! All about peace love & unity.
