  • This track would be hard even in NFS, respect :O

  • Lol, rightish doesn't sound to me like it means "a little bit right" but rather "awesome". Yeah, rightish jump.

Also, I love how it sounds sometimes "five right, maybe". Yeah, you never know, could be a left!

  • i wish him next to me would shut up trying to watch the road here ha

  • Clutchless gearshifts like a boss.... Legend!

  • @Ajhayter it's a DSG(direct shift gearbox) which is paddle shifters. And they have a dogbox set of gears which is short ratios for quick acceleration. It's standard on most rally cars

  • @lilmarine So it is. Some interesting reading on the DSG. Didn't know anything about those until now. I'm guessing the stick in the middle that twitches with the shift is a backup in case of the paddles failing?

From my understanding the dual clutch system speeds up shifts dramatically, although in WRC they are used in manual sequential mode rather than automatic.

  • @Ajhayter I have read a little bit about them. I also understand that dogbox gears can handle much more torque. And the humming you hear in rally videos is the dogbox winding. And i think you are right, it's used as a backup. That or when they go for the ebrake its right there.

  • this just made me realize that i dont have the balls to do that

  • u just have a new subscriber :)

  • Awsome drive.. rip RB

  • i drive like that when i have to poop..

  • Sadly missed was capable of so much more. RIP

  • I have no doubt in my mind, that if I were to drive that or any car in the woods that fast, I would kill myself.

  • 206?

  • I was scared watching them only! These guys are the real deal, forget about F1 and their laboratory-like races!

And too bad for Richard. Was my favorite driver on the circuit. Ever since he and McRae went the championship lost its intrigue big time

  • Wow, it's so extremal

  • tractions over-rated

  • Sadly miss his presence in the WRC

  • 0:37 WRC-Dubstep

  • i don't really know rally, but what do the commands mean that the passenger is saying?

  • @hijacker520 basically sharpness of turns, crests, narrowing or widening, distance, things like that. severity if turns is indicated by number. usually 1 being the sharpest

  • this guy can seriously drive...

the way he controls his car is epic... its like he has so much control yet he's not really doing much... perfect

  • Rightish jump, maybe

  • @dujedcv1 the maybe means maybe tightens.

  • Why does that car have a cell phone holder with a cell phone in it !? xD

  • @selick121 walkie talkie for emergencies maybe

  • @selick121 Its an emergency phone because if you wreck in the middle of a stage you dial *12 on the phone and an emergency team will drive to your wreck. I race Group N in vermont for a hobby and we have one in the 02' rallyteam Impreza; I havn't driven yet but I know that's what it's for.

  • @selick121 easy access to call 9-1-1 if they crash I'd just, but there would never need it

  • @selick121 they get phone calls from the team about if there is a car behind them or if they crashed and cant continue. its for emergencies.

  • @selick121 its to keep in touch with team base on all of the road sections and as a back up if the radio packs up. or calling a fire engine and ambulance. Its a standard in all rally cars

  • @selick121 If there car crashed they can call for help, sheeszasasdasdsa

  • @selick121 That's so they can phone the pit crew if they run into any trouble during a stage.

  • @selick121 Most likely a satellite phone maybe for emergency backup contact with the crew or something??

  • @selick121 It;s his daily driver aswell^^

  • @selick121 to make phone calls with !? xD

  • @selick121 To call people on....

  • 5.25 was tricky...

  • RIP Richard Burns

  • Fare well Richard, wherever you are, what ever you do.

  • My jaw was open the whole time.

  • it would suck to not be able to turn pages in time

  • The first time the audio distorted i thought Agent Smith was taking over him body lmao

  • wow!!!! this is boring :D

  • That lags on camera... it has orgasm.

  • Richard Burns enoorme! perfecta conducción

  • Comment removed

  • He's so damn good his copilot merely "narrating" what he's just done. Respect.

  • I can do it!

  • Absolutely amazing! Bravo my dude! You inspire me!

  • WTF!!! the shifter moves by self!

  • @irisnokaori he controls it on is steering wheel

  • @irisnokaori The gear changes are done by the computer using the paddles on the steering wheel, which usually changes the gears faster and also controls the clutch. The shifter knob is usually just a back up for if the paddle system fails.

  • he is more in air than on the ground!

  • The music, the text font, the voices (duh) is straight out of the Richard Burns Rally game. Or, I guess it's the other way around, but still awesome. Miss you, Richard!

  • How can the co-driver people pay attention to their papers while riding in a car being driven in such a fashion? I sure couldn't.

  • just unbelievable that the driver can even go this fast. rally is king.

  • good place to stand on the left at 3.17.....hhhmm???

  • @JBLAZE999 much safer than standing on the outside of the corner.

  • @bltnxkrw yes i never thought of that, could still be nasty though!

  • The matrix glitched at 0:37.

  • @ASirensSoliloquy awww damn that fucked me up haha total glitch

  • Nokia 6210 <3

  • So smooth steering

  • one question, is that the gear shifter beside the ebrake? it moves when the car shifts, yet you never see the dude moving it. What is going one????

  • @0825Jesusfreak He's using a paddle shifter, watch his hands. I have no idea why they'd have that and also have the normal shifter as well, but meh

  • @0825Jesusfreak It's for back up, if gearbox hydraulics fails and paddle shifter stops working.

  • hes shifting the gear stick with his mind! lol

  • lol he sounds like the oldschool mac voices. the one where you type and it says what you type. also that must be hard as hell to read that shit while going like that. surprised he doesnt puke

  • Richard Burns was the man with Subaru....much respect>

  • this is a real rally I missed this camera onboard in 2011

How he changed the gear ????

  • @MrDjalalwrc he has a steering clutch

  • Its just a gigantic rollercoaster ride

  • Am I the only one who thinks that the 206 WRC suited Richard better than the Impreza? Those onboards from Burns driving the 206 are the best I have seen of him.

  • MAYBE?!?!

  • Is he flying or driving? Is this a videogame or real?....

  • Anyone else noticed that his peace notes sucks?

  • @thewitcher1990 sounds like they're not synced with the video properly, too.

  • there is nothing best about it ,,,just like any other

  • This is the first stage of Playstation1 Colin mcrae rally 2.0 !Thumbs up! :]

  • It made me a little nervous to occasionally hear the co-driver say "maybe" about some of the turns.

  • Nokia on the dashboard, just in case your wife calls...

  • you could recoginze that this the 1000 lakes rally (Finland) from the 1000 jumps !

  • I missed my calling. Wow. Thank you for that. Flat out 110% all of the time.

  • id love to give this ago

  • Comment removed

  • if he did a robbery, and he already sat in his car, the cops had a problem

  • 6:30 of perfection. Ken Block, watch and learn. Richard Burns died the same day as George Best. Most of the media made news of the man who was not only a great footballer, but an alcoholic who was given a second chance, rather than the kind, honest and humble man Richard was. Both made their mark in history, but it just shows how much the media are interested in money rather than the peope it reports upon.

  • One of the only guys to ever challenge Marcus and Tommi in Finland, Loeb can now yes, but against who? Burns got closer than anyone, Colin, Carlos or Didier. Fair play me lad, RIP

  • The best driving I have ever seen!

  • I like to play movies like these on my phone when I'm in the car and pretend like I'm driving. I sounds stupid, but it is A LOT of fun!

  • Just reminds me of my wife doing the school run.

  • @chriskeenan1 LMFAo

  • rewind at 37 what a cheater!! everyone knows your not aloud to use rewind on leaderboard runs!!

  • paddle shifting..... must i say any more???? hhahaha be a man

  • @GreenMagic89 Nope, you dont have to say anything more. This is enough to know that you're a complete retard.

  • M M MM MAX MM M MM MAA MAA MAX HEA HE HE HEAADROOOM

  • peugeot 206 is a very hard rally car. It's a crap load harder than a usual long base

  • Imagine having this guy as your navigation system? I'd kick his ass out after the first 100 feet of driving.

  • 0:37 i think my computer reset ;d

  • Finland is more about flying than driving, what a shame we cannot enjoy his talent anymore. Great onboard video!

  • The balls! Amazing driving.

  • Incredible car control, Richard Burns was one the most talented drivers of his era

  • very nice mr smooth

  • awesome driving skill.

  • its a good job there was no clock tower near by, cos that MOFO would have been GOING BACK TO THE FUTUREEEEEEEEE

  • nothing tops Rally !

  • @dohderbert82 as much as i love time attack and drifting and know nothing of rally except for what the copilot says you are absolutely right... can someone tell me what kind of engines these guys use? and whats the specs on a high rpm engine they use like the group b?

  • @xraidedlok

They were 4 cylinder 2.0 litre Turbo develop 300+HP but 2011 onwards they are 4 cylinder 1.6 litre

  • @k33fy why did they make them so much weaker? all motor too

    ?

  • @dohderbert82 True. True.

  • A britain will never drive that fast again!!!!!

  • Amazing skills .

  • Love the jumps at the begining

  • Thats how u know rally racers are the best in the world

  • Is his co-driver Scottish?

  • : 0

  • Listen @ .037.....they r Transformers! They have to be.

  • did the co pilot do the voice of davy jones in pirates of the caribbean?

  • Photographer on the inside of the corner at 3:17 must have shat himself quite severely, amazing control from RB, a great loss to rallying

  • between the lafts and roights, epic driving

  • shit, i wouldnt never manage to follow the speaking dude... let alone focusing on road

  • WTF

  • Oh yea, that look hilarious when gear stick moves without touching it, Richard burns has mindfuked that gearstick i think : o

  • @TnRxMw2 the car had both paddles and a sequential stick in case the paddles failed. so he's using the paddles and not the stick, the stick moves on it's own when the gear changes.

  • Im from Finland. I drive routes like that with my moped.. Not with that much style ofc : DDD

  • My favorite Burns story was about the journalist who was in a really hot sports car at the Nurburgring and Burns was in front of him in something like front wheel drive turbo diesel Peugeot doing some PR, the reporter thought great, I can follow Burns and watch him drive; Burns was out sight within a few turns. While he had fantastic cars, he made them last and he beat some great champions. RIP.

  • i did see him shift once

  • ya the whine is not from the electrical its from the gearbox, it uses straight cut gears to transmit the power more directly as compared to helical cut gears you see in street cars to cut down on that "blender sound" lol

  • wow, so good it looks fake...

  • he was the precise ying to mcraes flamboyant yang

  • Pro.

  • That whining/whistling noise is neither turbo nor transmission noise - it's electrical interference as the camera is run on the car's electrics.

    Smooooth driving, great stuff.

  • at 2:10 ......presision driving at the white house...........great vid

  • @SuperSpetnaz yea man!! Fuck yea!

  • Sebastien Loeb is the best.

    R.I.P. Sir Richard Burns.

  • Those are skills i could only ever dream of, RIP Burns

  • madre mia qe forma de pilotar es impresionante qe FACIL lo hace nice!

  • I swear I dont this guy, 1st time hearing about him and i watched only till 2:27. HE is such so good. and just srcolling down i hear that this guy is dead. i feel very very bad. damm

    RIP awesome guy. R.B.

  • when does he shift?

  • @soulchain247 he uses the paddle shift on the steering wheel. the gear knob is there incase that breaks and you can see the gearstick move when he shifts

  • its a Ferrari 402 dti .

  • incredibly smooth driving

and this is prob the first co pilot that i can understand and can see what hes talking about lol

    really good job :O

  • indestructable balls of steel.

  • Siiick

    cheers for the video

  • oh man what a dude eh?

  • look at the symboll on his helmet

  • R,I.P richard burns..............

  • That is not Richard Burns.

That's me on my way to work. :)

  • crazy towords tht final 30 secs :O

  • Is this the peugeot or the suburu?

  • peugeot 206

  • cant u see its a 206?

  • its a peugeot. just look at the dash board.

  • Yea and at another glance you can see the peugeot logo on the side of the helmets

  • citroen c3

  • The sound your all talking about I can 100% guarantee that it is the sequential gearbox and the Straight cut gears which build up the gearbox. It's these gears which gives the gearbox / transmission that whine sound. I have exactly the same on my ex 1997 WRC Car.

  • Hit the nail on the head :)

  • its the transmission, you wouldnt hear a tubo THAT loud on a rally stage inside, otherwise you would hear the turbo chatter.

    Transmission for sure.

  • @MRSALADDODGER im guessing that the gears are spur gears within the tranny. This type of gear cut is flat and flush with the drive/driven gears. This give good strength yet a loud noise. Helical cut gears would be alot quieter, thus they are put into commercial vehicle's transmissions like your everyday Civic etc...

  • @MRSALADDODGER

If You're talking about this squeaky sound it definetely isn't a transmittion. Pay attention that You can hear it on wrc onboards even when car isn't moving. I think that is the turbo. it's not the sound of it hearable inside of car but high rpm of turbo fan (don't know if it's right translation) transmits vibrates to mic. I could be wrong but I think that's most possible.

PS. Sorry i'm not genius in English language ;)

  • @MRSALADDODGER

even then, the ALS system in the car would stop the turbo from spinning down and engaging the BOV forcing air outside giving the turbo noise

  • @MRSALADDODGER its actually the flywheel for the anti-lag turbo system. its not the actual turbo itself but its not the transmission. you can hear when he down changes it spikes in sound from the anti lag.

  • @kartingbeast93 It's actually the turbo fan spinning at up to 200k RPM :) You can hear how the anti-lag system spins it up in advance when he presses the throttle, before the engine revs go up.

  • @hristoitchov That is definitely the transmission. Do you have any idea how loud straight-cut racing gear boxes are?

  • its the fucking transmission.

  • it also might be the fuel pump ;-)

  • That sound is actually the turbo

You must not know anything about rally to not know what a turbo sounds like

  • Jazda na krawędzi możliwości (amazing)

  • could someone tell me what's that ZZZZZZZ sound ?

  • its feedback from the electrical system, the camera must be hard wired so you're hearing the frequencies the alternator is giving off

  • Ahhh, thx man

I always wondered what it could be :p

  • Turbo
