I loved this movie when it first came out. To me I felt this movie had a lot of heart in it. The way they stuck together even when it got rough for them at the end of the film People aren't this way any more. It's every person for themselves now a days. If only people were still this way.

I don' think of it as a goofy or curious movie at all. There are a lot very touching emotional moments. Yes, it's great,  in the comedic sense, but the underlying story is about men trying to figure out what's important to them and discovering how they want to live their lives. And the music is fantastic.

The movie was quite entertaining, with many comic moments, especially when Jack Palance was involved. I saw this flick on video; I was quite pleasantly surprised by how well the movie hung together.  The biggest laugh was a section that had no score: two of the main characters are on the trail, driving the herd of cattle, and discussing how to program a VCR to get it to stop flashing 12:00.

Trust me, it's better than a lot of people give it credit for.

@deancook652 That was a funny scene but they were actually discussing how to record with a vcr and not needing a TV to do it! It is a lot better than people give it credit for!
