  • just get both :D

  • @skimkid13 i use the ESX to sequence another synth, and i have pushed the envelope with that machine so there aren't any more of the original sounds on it. at best with my ESX and 1 extra synth, i could max out at a total of 6 synth patterns. the modulator is one the best features of the ESX because it makes gating anything simple.

  • i love my emx. might buy kp3 or maybe a synth like a microkorg or a mopho module to go with it.

  • Count the knobs! The EMX is better.

  • ofc, esx is better

  • We have an Enter Shikari fan here haha. Nice

  • Nice patterns. Just gotta say though mate, it's silly saying 'ESX is as good as EMX...' seeing as they are completely different bits of kit. One is a groovebox, the other is a sampler. It's like saying, 'wow, the GX1 is so much better than the KP3'.

  • @cazmo222 long story short, i get many shikari fans with no opinion of their own or prior knowledge on the subject telling me the emx is incredible and the esx is shit just cause rou chose the mx. Nice to see that someone's informed for a change though :)

  • @Fieldy63 Rou has both xD but I get your point.

  • thats not a Emx IT looks the same?

  • @Jokerdudmuffin lol no its an esx, emx is a synth esx is a sampler, basically

  • @Fieldy63 I have a Emx And kp3 should i buy a Esx

  • I prefer the ESX-1 to the EMX-1, I already have a load of synths to jam on so a machine capable of producing a great beat is what I needed. If I did need a certain sound to mix in I'd whip it up on my computer or my synths and just sample it in.

  • ok, i have a quesition about the elecrtibe and i see that you respond to comments, so here it goes, can you import your own songs into the elecribe, such as a recorded 4 beat bar loop?

  • there is a program out there that lets you open up the sx files and import .wav files. google import wav esx.

  • @TenThousandFeetTall you can put your own .wav loops on to the SD card without any extra programs... that's the whole point of the card I thought

  • @MrBrandonPeoples your own songs? as in audio files? yeah you just plug in the audio source to the esx audio input and record, then you can cut & trim it on the esx. you can also tempo slice it into segments, add fx etc

  • @Fieldy63 i was wondering if there is an alternate way rather than recording put literally transferring an audio file to the esx memory.

  • @MrBrandonPeoples well theres no usb connectoin available, just midi, which obviously you can't transfer audio across. the only real way would be to get a smart media memory card reader for the computer, put the files on there and plug the card into the esx. the new esx's all have SD card readers now, which is better considering smart media cards are out of production now.

  • @Fieldy63 i didn't plan on using it via usb, i was just wonder if there were any possibilities of external memory sources, which would clearly be an SD card

  • @MrBrandonPeoples ah yeah well mines the old version with smart media cards, the new ones use SD cards but are otherwise exactly the same.

  • Daft Punk part was sick.

  • nice one

  • SYNAW sounds really good, with better quality it could sound really good!

  • put on yer jacket cos here comes the lyric blizzerd!!lose that sample it takes up valuble sample time.....

  • yeah i'm thinking i might move all the preset samples & patterns to a memory card & wipe it clean for plenty of space to play with :)

  • why dos everyone do that same fucking tune on electribs

  • enter shikari have one, so most people with electribes are fans.

also its probably the funnest tune to sequence.

  • Did you sample the daft punk tune for those samples?

I also have a track up from my esx any feedback would be appreciated you obviously are a machine man

  • i'll have a look... and yes straight from harder, better

  • the shikari stuff sounds sick

    nice one

  • cheers

    i do love shikari ^^

  • there is no way you mde te trackswit this are misrepresentinng

  • dude this is sick

  • hello... its look u so easy make a mellody with esx... how to do that dude ??? can u teach me??? its hard for me to make mellody in esx

  • which is better EMX or ESX?

  • the esx is a better tool to use for sampling.

  • EMX - Synthesizer

    ESX - Sampler

  • Hey, did you recreate the Daft Punk cover, or did you sample it? and is there any chance I could get said samples? I'd like to mess around with it on my ESX, that I'm getting in like a week. Pls PM me. Thanks for your time :)

  • the vocal samples are jsut sampled straight off the track, since theres no instrumental while theyre singing.... the backing is sampled from the song intro, enjoi

  • I'm loving the ESX. I find it easy to get creative with the electribe. I already have the EMX but I'm just thinking what it would be like to use my own samples too. Might buy one!!

  • the sounds battery mx and sx they are the same?

  • as far as i can tell, yes

the factory drums sounds on emx & esx are the same

  • it could just be my setup, but i feel like the EsX has better kick when it comes to its drum parts whereas the EMx is a bit softer sounding. nice use of sampling in your vid btw, that was very cool : )

  • myspace com/chrisfieldmusic

  • where is the big difference between a electribe emx-1 ander esx-1? is it difficult to use? i just play the e-guitar and i don't have an idea how to use such an instrument but it's very interesting. please tell me

    nice job

  • well theyre both sequencers..... but the esx samples (records)audio sound for use & manipulation, the emx cant sample but has a built in synth engine. both have got drum machines as well.

  • is there a combination of the two?

  • Yeah, they are actually made to work together and can become a weapon of mass destruction if used properly. :D

  • fuck me i wish there was..... :)

  • so, can i use this sucker to record a phrase from an electric guitar then mess around with the slices?

  • yep can indeed... you'll need a DI box to put a guitar into a mic/line input though if you want a decent sound out of it

  • Ok i know you've been getting hassled about how to do everything in ur clip, but i have an esx and would really like to know HOW to load vocal samples like the daft punk ones you did. I'm only a beginner but i really wanna master the beast, plz reply x

    Peace....

  • just sampled them...

plugged an iPod to the input, pushed the button marked 'sample' then pushed shift+[rec] for sample-ready mode.... then play/pause button starts & stops sound recording. the start & end points can be adjusted as well.

  • what is going out in the front of your kp2? this is the mic in no?

  • yeah its the mic in

i just put a guitar lead from there to the esx output

  • Ok the comment i just left was meant to be a reply to your reply lol ^ ^. just for some reason it didnt go where it was supposed to..

    ~wanabetechno~

  • how mutch are korg emx's

  • £400ish

which probably works out to around $780 i think

  • I found a few emx's for five hundred dollars.

  • thats good actually, where from?

    i got mine for £400, about $800ish.

  • nice job :)

in terms of non drum sounds how would you rate the pretty loaded samples?

were all the sounds in your video already in the esx?

  • i'll assume you mean preloaded samples....

well the drums are great, but i've sampled my own ones as well from Reason 4.0 software anyway... other than drums, the samples are still great. stuff like vocal samples, fx, drum&synth rhythms & stuff like sitar.... yeah loads of variety

in my video, almost all the samples are preset, with exception to daft punk and my own song at 1.54.

  • Dude i got an esx for my birthday and stuff.

and i want to record some stuff onto it.

Do i need any different cables or anyhting to hook up to my Cd player system, cos i cant find were to put the lead except the phono socket??

would really appreciate the help :)

    ~wanabetechno~

  • ummm depends on the speaker outputs on the cd player. If theyre like just cables, then it's a bit more difficult.... otherwise, should be ok.

just plug the cd player into the audio in jack on the esx & push the audio through button next to the screen. to record, push shift+rec, then play if it isnt already playing.

  • what did u use to plug ur CD player into esx audio in jack?

    ~wanabetechno~

  • ok i worked out what i done wrong lol :p i wasnt plugging the leads back into the amp and stuff so no sound was going through it. Dude i was just wondering, for ok time for plan B and the chorus in SYNAW did u use the esx's internal stuff or sampling??

    ~wanabetechno~

  • all internal sounds =]

thing is about internal synth sounds on esx though, each note is based on pitch shifting a single sample..... so if its an evolving synth sound, it evolves faster on higher notes if you see what i mean... otherwise so, good quality.

  • wow awesome!! is there any chance u cud sorta write up the stuff and message it to me on how u got you got the sounds and what keys for Enter Shikari? especially SYNAW :P, just im like a mega fan of theirs and i wud love to be able to do some of their stuff without having to sample???

    ~wanabetechno~

  • lol emm

i sampled by plugging my iPod into the mic input/line/whatever was available

& the synth tabs are fairly easy to find on the internet... i use a program called guitar pro

you can download files for it from the ultimate guitar website, and it usually has all the synth, drums, guitars, bass etc

  • ESX power! i made one yesterday. check it out plz. -shujincell

  • Dude you should do the ES songs on seperate videos...that would be awesome!

    Check my ES covers!

    Are you seeing them tomorrow?

    x

  • who enter shikari?

    (i realise late reply)

  • so did you basically record the original song or did you play the original on something then recorded it to your esx

  • which? only samples used were harder better faster stronger, stand your ground "aahh"s, and some reason drumkits. everything else used esx's internal synth & drumkits, filters, fx etc

  • how does the esx work.....cos i know its s sampler do u basically take stuff off over tracks or somin???? wud appreciate help cos ive always wondered how they work??

    ~wanabetechno~

  • well yu can basically record any sound from any song or anything really.... cut & edit samples... and mess with it like add pitch shifts, fx, slicing etc then sequence samples.

theres also preset synth sounds based on samples that you can note sequence, loadsa drum samples, arpeggiator... and you can sample one note of a synth and play it across the esx keyboard.

  • thats, awesome......now i dont whether to get Emx or esx lol :S

    thx for the help though

    ~wanabetechno~

  • well main differences

emx has 5 keyboard parts & full synth engine (fairly limited tho)

esx doesnt have a synth engine, but presampled synth sounds (you can add your own) that you can add fx & filters to.

esx can record sounds & manipulate in so many ways, but you only get 2 keyboard parts

    emx doesnt record.

both have 9 drum parts with presampled sounds, esx you can put any of your own sounds onto them.

the Radias has a sequencer same as emx, inc. drums, but more synth possibilities

  • Lol, what's that riff I hear in SYNAW...

  • this is sweet bro

    nice work

tempted to get an esx now!

  • nice vid, you should try to record the audio by means of computer rather than a cell phone or camera, and then line it up with the video, it will have th ebest outcome
