your confused... lol xD. Where's the turbo??? cam's move the powerband up, lol you need some help down low what were you thinking hahaha. Leave the cam for the v8's they have enough torque to handle the losses of a cam, but the i4... imo.
I have a bisimoto stage 2 on my ej8 and it has been running untuned on the stock ecu since october,2010. runs fine no problems with it. im just probably not getting all the power i could out of it. I'm going to get an aem ems soon though
After all of that money and time, you're still pushing under (190ish?). When I saved up 6k, I was thinking of dumping it in the good ol' EM2, but I bought a LS1 240 and kept the civic as a daily. Best decision ever.

did you get your hondata before or after the cam cus i've got an ex just wondering how good the gains are gonna be on mine once i get the hondata s100 if you answer thanks...
I would suggest getting a tune as soon as possible. Maybe disable the IAC, or change the duty cycle of it if you are able to change any of those parameters for the time being.
hey man im doing the exact same engine setup this summer : In atm: Magnaflow cat back (w/ stock cat) K&N COI Ebay 4-2-1 headers Whatt im going to do : Crower stg2 cqm vavle springs (either crower or supertech) and a chip of some sort can you PM me or email me @kevin_hayes656@hotmail.com with tips on mostly the electronics side of the build hope forward to hearing from you .. Thanks man kev
@tchanthakho91 - Just one cam :) And yes, timing must be set at TDC prior to removing everything, and timing must be checked with a timing gun once everything is installed.
@cvcrcr99 damn i dont think mine are timed. if i dont keep my foot on the gas pedal it will shut off . but the guy that put them in said i just need to get it tuned he timed the cam gears though
i say fuck the haters. everyone has there own preference on motors and wat they can do. but this is a nice sohc. i think it would sound better with a test pipe or high flow cat tho. my opinion.
@PrettyC10241209 - Yea, a test pipe/hi flow cat would probably sound better... However, I believe it is a Federal offense for removing the cat from a vehicle. I don't think it is a good idea telling everyone you removed the cat from the vehicle and producing additional emissions. ;)
@cvcrcr99 The on/off sound while you step on the gas reminds me of the same problem i had with my very same 99civic. It has idle air control valve problem that's common to civic. It cost a fortune to fix it. :))
SOUND AMAZING BRO!....i got a question did you have to get your head machined or did you jus put everything in no problems?? and did u change valves to??i got a y8 head im thinking about building, and this video just makes me want to do it MORE!
@TheOombop - I have been walking by N/a B series daily. With the money for a N/a B series swap, I have done this to my D series. Which is something not everyone else does. Let's stay away from negativity here. The car is nowhere near complete of course.
@cvcrcr99 Agreed. I've been working with my d16z6 and it's been my pride and joy. Only reason I'm moving to B series is I found a cheap gsr and all it needs is some block work. Nice setup btw.
@TheOombop the K series is a money pit when you swap..and B series is done all the time..the D series is an under estimated motor that actually has potential
I have a 2000 civic ex with a d16y8 I have a megan 4-2-1 header, aem cai, bisimoto stage 2 cam and valve springs, and aem trutime cam gear, with magnaflow exhaust. I havent swapped back to 0bd1 yet but im going to put a p28 in it and get it chipped and tuned. my question is how big a difference hp wise does a tuned ecu do compared to the stock ecu?
how did u get it to do that at 1:22 ?? would love to make my ep2 do that. is it the stock rev limiter or a variation of things that cause it to do that?
@delluser121 - It is called a Launch Control. It is embedded in the Hondata, or K-pro for the K series etc. You can also just buy a launch control/2-step controller, but I don't have any info on them since I have only used launch control thru the ECU.
im running wid stage 2 blox cams..and skunk 2 intake manifolds..aem cold air..after market headers...street tuned p28..redline 8500...i smoke h22 accords and gsr and LS and b16 in eg or em1 all day...
@23kingme - I am not sure why people keep posting in this video thread. The car is now supercharged with no upgraded internals (yet). Check out my other video if you are interested.
A D16 with a camshaft/bolt ons and mild tuning will have not chance against a GSR and might keep up with a B18b.
Supercharged, I walk away from B18b's, but have yet to race someone with the GSR motor.
@geiner66 - I no longer have the camshaft. I don't know the part number. It was a y8 Stage 2 N/A cam. I don't Crower made too many variations of the cam to be honest. Finding it should be pretty easy.
What's wrong with you people? If you don't like the video, don't post. Don't waste your time posting something negative. As soon as I get the E-mail, I will just delete it.
BTW, the car is no longer N/A. That crower camshaft is no longer installed as well.

whoop! just pick up the same car, same color, hopefully mine will be that slammed later this week. im liken it on them hubcaps i gotta say. i might keep mine on for a bit
i like your civic, it has a good sound , i've reading all these comments about b16s and d series and well i agree with you d16's engines are good if you use all the right parts , i had a d16y8 with turbo and it runs very good , made about 220hp with stock internals 8psi , now im going with a b16 engine that i haven't finished yet , srp pistons eagle rods . and well more and more i can't remember all the stuff but i hope i can make good hp at the dyno.. nice video
All I'm going to say is, if you have a negative comment, just hit the back button...it will be removed. If you are a American Muscle fan, or just hate on imports/Hondas in general, why the hell did you click the link to bring you here?
I would assume you can still get launch control. Although, I have no clue what a power fc is. I think the term used for launch control would be 2-step. I bet if you searched around, you could find a 2-step/launch control set-up for your car.
@bp1800 If you have a TYPE R? Why would you need a launch control? Your car should have LSD? If you want that sound like his exhaust go get a tune with a Hondata s200 or s300. No point of a tune, if your not gonna make more power with parts.
I am a huge fan of the Apex-i WS2. I'll check out the vibrant exhaust you are talking about. The Skunk2 IM is now gone (sold it), along with some other things I had laying around.
I spent all the money I earned from selling stuff on a full jrsc kit. I will definitely post up more videos once that has been installed.
word d-series just not put out enough power? my buddy spencer has a ek with y8 and crower stage 2 cam intake header exhaust puts out bout 125 wheel still not quick enough i guess!
Yup, WS2 is where it is at. Almost any oval/bigger muffler exhausts will tend to be quieter, while the coffee can look-a-likes will be that raspy, ear-piercing noise.
Wait, that's a WS2? Actually sounds pretty good. I thought for a while about getting a WS2 for the modest look. But because of the typical high pitch I hear from it, and quietness, I decided against it. Sounds pretty modest on this for some reason. Still way too quiet for my taste though.
Well, before tuning, no, there wasn't a huge gain that I could feel. However, I bet a dyno would have shown at least 8-9 hp more. Now tuned, I would make a low guess and say everything added 15 hp, high guess would be about 25 hp. I just don't that kind of money right now to dyno it to get the exact number
But remember, a camshaft will also shift your powerband up into the higher RPMs. I don't "feel" extra power until after 4k and I am basically at WOT.
yo i need some help. if i install a stage 2 cam on my d16y8, will i need to add any other aftermarket parts inside the engine? i been told that i can mess up my internals adding only a stage 2 cam?????
You can physically install a stg 2 camshaft w/o anything else, however, you run the risk of damaging internals. It is recommended that you at least get upgraded valve springs and retainers. I am running Supertech Valve Springs and Titanium retainers. Also, I have heard it is recommended to replace titanium retainers every 15,000 miles or so.
hmm man, I kind of want this exhaust but my only worry is that it might be too soft. I hate raspy exhausts but I want it to have some tone to it also. have you tried any other exhausts that had a nice smooth tone that you liked?
I absolutely love this exhaust. The only other exhausts I have had experience with is the Megan racing cat back (kinda has a slight slant at the end), and an Ebay cat-back. The Megan racing exhaust sounded nice at first, but within about 6 months, it really started to sound like crap. The eBay exhaust was junk right from the start.
I would suggest to check out a Greddy Sp2, or the Apex-i Noir (although this is for hatchbacks only I believe) if the WS2 is too soft
A friend of mine has a lot of the parts you described on the d16, just not installed yet. He wants to know what kind of times (1/4 mile) can be expected. What are you running?
was this ever dynoed or ran on the quarter mile? i have a y8 just like urs with everything but the head work, hondata, and suspension... got a few videos on my channel lol... but i need numbers to see if the headwork is worth the money lol any response is appreciated... nice sounding idle btw

Thanks for the feedback! I had a coffee can exhaust on a previous car... when I was younger. Now, I can't stand that noise.

Sounds good.....I like the quite exhaust instead of the loud ass coffee can exhaust that sounds like a large bumble bee coming down the road!

A friend of mine has a lot of the parts you described on the d16, just not installed yet. He wants to know what kind of times (1/4 mile) can be expected. What are you running?

Haven't taken it to a track or dyno'd it yet. I need a new clutch and an A/F gauge+wideband set up. Re-tune and then off to the track!
