Thank you for this video. I recently started to trace my family tree. My family was Quaker in Pennsylvania almost 200 yrs ago. One of my ggggggg-grandfathers was a Quaker minister and he was kicked out of England more than 350 yrs ago. The family somehow became separated from Quakerism after the moved westward. (We're now Baptists.) This video was very educational and helpful for me to understand Quaker beliefs. I'm trying to learn more about my family origins.
Thank you for this. I am a Quaker of 55 years. I came to it as an Anglican. What a person believes is important only to the believer. What is important to the rest of the world is how this belief translates into action. Christ's philosophy has never been improved upon and, when practiced, never found wanting. The most noble thing we can do, as human beings, is to be kind to each other.
Seems like the term "Christian Quakerism" is kind of redundant. True Quakers are Christian. But I know why the term is being used nowadays. It's a shame that so many Quakers have to emphasize they're Christians due to the number of professed Quakers who don't accept Christ as the Word of God or the Savior of the world.
I was not able to make it to the gathering and have enjoyed this video. I am always looking for conservative and Christ centered friends to fellowship with.
Has the role of doctrine on "substitutionary atonement" changed in modern Quakerism to that from George Fox and if it has how?
