  • I discovered John just a month or so ago at East Coast Contact. I can't believe I'd never heard of him before. This is a great song and, when I asked about it, he told me he'd written it for his friend whose son went to Afghanistan. It started out happy but changed drastically when the young man was killed in action less than a month into his tour. I've put it on my FB page as a tribute for Remembrance Day.

  • Looking forward to hearing him in an intimate setting in Tampa, Florida next Wednesday after seeing this video and these comments. Thanks!

  • This is one of my favorite John Wort Hannam songs. Ever since I first heard his music while staying in Pincher Creek, I haven't been able to hear enough of him. Touching song John, I hope you continue to make more like it, we can never have enough musical talents like yourself in Alberta.

  • I saw John at FarmFest in Manitoba (2010) and loved him!

Thank you John for a beautiful song

  • First time I heard this said that if you are not crying by the end of this song, you probably are a sociopath. A great song no matter how you feel about the war.

  • @RouseHouseConcerts Too bloody right - I cry every time I hear it. WE need stuff ike this on the radio, not lady GaGa to remind us of what it means to be Canadian. We have an international reputation as peacekeepers, and as brave soldiers in wartime, too, but that reputation has been paid for in Canadian lives. Kudos to JWH for having written such a poignant song.

  • i saw him live like 3 days ago he was amazing!

  • Listening to this with dry eyes is impossible!

  • Indeed he is the man!

  • This video is amazing, unfortunately I accidentally gave it a three star rating because I am an idiot. It really should be 5 stars but like i said, i'm an idiot. John Wort Hannam is the man!
