I have had thoughts of removing everything from the Apexi forward to the block, but don't want to because I have a a Honda Del Sol Si that has had the entire exhaust system replaced and it is VERY loud. The del sol has a 120mm exhaust muffler much like the Apexi, but the Apexi is 90mm. The del sol also has had a replaced header and 2.5" exhaust pipes all the way. Sounds good, but it is a bit loud for daily driving. For DD I prefer a bit less noise.
85 is quite a few less than the 108 I am currently at. I don't know how much your car weighs, but mine stock weighs about 3200 pounds. I've dropped a few pounds with the intake and exhaust, but not much. I bet the Vega is probably pretty heavy being built in the 70's, but I don't know anything about them. Anyway... unless it is very light I'd say that being about 28 horsepower down from the Aveo there would not be much contest there.
Ya i love Apexi to death. i guess I would go with Apexi for what ever i could get it for. i just got a 01 ford focus ST and ive been lookin at buyin a muffler. i was on the website and i could only get either the N1 like you got or some other one. Would this be a good muffler to get. like i want somthing deep but not to loud so the cops won't be after me
If you JUST remove the factory rear muffler and put this on you have nothing to worry about at all. Now.. if you were to put 2.5" or 3" pipe all the way back including removing all the cats and resonators I am sure it will be much louder. Since I bought this for the Aveo I bought a used Honda Del Sol with a header and 2.5" exhaust with a 120 mm straight through muffler and that car is much louder. If you do a full cat back you might need the plunger style silencer or the manual one.
I gained 5hp over stock. Between the intake and muffler only... keeping in mind from the rear muffler to the engine is still stock.. Within the next few months I'm gonna likely have the rest of the piping up to the cat enlarged and either get a high flow cat or just delete the cat all together. I am sure that will result in just as much if not more gains. Unfortunately being a 2005 it has a few less HP to start with compared to the current one starting at 106. I'm at 108 modded up from 103.
Wow dude, the moment i saw this video i expected it to sound like a ricer, but i was pleasantly suprized. That actually sounds really good for an engine that small, good choice man.
Yea... no kidding.. I did my research through message boards and other youtube videos of cars that had 4 cylinder engines with this muffler on it before I bought it. It really does sound like a beast when I'm running laps at my SCCA meets... all I need is a turbo now. :) I also have no doubt that this exhaust would sound KILLER on a WRX... STI or not.. it would give it that AWESOME "warble" those engines have to them. :) Thanks man.. Go get you one.
u got the part about it bein LOUD with no resonators right. i have to keep my silencers in 24/7 just to keep it drivable on a daily basis lol. but come track time...
Unless you have a turbo Apex strongly suggests NOT getting the bigger KA003 muffler. If you have too large of a muffler and don't have proper back pressure you can lose performance and mileage depending on what else you have in your exhaust system. Since I added this and my cone intake my mileage improved by 3-4 MPG!!! I've checked it now over 3 tanks. From the muffler forward it is still stock to the block
do a resonator delete and get a bigger muffler apexi really isnt that good i have an aerospeed and sounds great.

Possibly, but dunno what they weigh.. I figure a yugo, sprint, and geo are all in kind of that same range.

I have a 1974 Chevy Vega with a stock 2.3 Sohc Inline 4 Cyl it has 85 hp and 122 ft of Tq you think it could compete with a Stock Chevy Aveo?

so to install these muffler is the same as replacing a factory one right?
darkflame64 3 years ago
The N1 Universal went right where the original factory rear muffler used to be. Nothing else on the exhaust was replaced.

yeah man, i plan on getting one. Now, i'm not familiar with the Aveo, does it come stock with dual exhaust, or did you do that?
TreachourusJdogg 3 years ago
The tip on the right side of the car is just a fake Hooker tip that is the same size as the real muffler which is on the left.

nice sound, have you more videos, or photos?

The part number on the muffler is:
156-A008 Tip: 60mm(2.36") inlet and 90mm(3.54")
