Takk for sharing with us about your bunad. It's gorgeous! wish I had one. I live in the U.S.A. but I'm 100% Norwegian--my ancestors came from Ostfold, Hedmark & Telemark--so I'm not sure which bunad I would pick! Your solje is lovely, too. (I love solje and collect it.) You mentioned the 'everyday bunad.' Do you know if they wore any solje with the everyday bunad? Again, thank you for your video. It was really interesting.

@seminolePP You can have different variations, but they have to be authorised by some official people in norway to be considered as a bunad. There are more than 100 different ones in norway
@rixtmix Thanks for helping me out. It is actually really hard to find any reference material regarding bunads. Lucky I found this video, looks great on you!
it's a lovely bunad and especially nice because it was your grandmothers! i would like to get a bunad (for man) one day, but i would have to buy one, and i know a good one is very expensive. my family is from buskerud and sogn og fjordane, but unfortunately i have not seen any bunader from those counties that i like for myself! is it acceptable to wear a bunad from another county or is that not really done?
Hi Rixt, your Bunad is beautiful! Yes we call it confirmation here in the states, too. Your English is so good....I only speak English. My Grandmother was born in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden and immigrated to the States when she was 3 or 4. Unfortunately, she forgot the Swedish language and only spoke English. I told Becka I want to buy some polkagris....we had it at Christmas every year. We live in Alaska now and I would love to visit Sweden & Norway!
It's unfortunate that you can't speak Swedish because it is great to be able to talk more than 1 language. I so want to visit Alaska because my father lived there for a 1/2 year in 1986. And I love Polkagris =)
Yeah, there are some special shoes as well, but they are not specific to any of the dresses. Off course it is an apron, but I could not remember the name :)

can you have different variation of bunads from the same region, or do they have to be completely standardized to remain 'authentic'?

So pretty! Are there special shoes that are worn with the outfit too or just the dress?
I hope you post some vid or pics of the parade this year if you can.
I think the part you were showing with the embroidery is an apron. :)
Thanks again for sharing this with us, so cool!
