  • The Fox sisters admitted that they tricked the world. This guy is a nut.

  • @jazzyazz Well, Maggie Fox confessed and Kate went along with it, but didn't "expose" it as Maggie did. She also retracted what she said a year later saying that what she had claimed against Spiritualism was "false in every particular". She had been paid by the New York Herald to make a signed confession and being in need of money, people speculate that the confession wasn't honest. A year later, when she said she had did an injustice to the cause of Spiritualism, she had not received any money.

  • @jazzyazz You see, at the time of the alleged "confession" in 1888, Maggie and Katherine had become very bad alcoholics. The eldest sister, Leah, had tried to get Kate separated from her children, so this could've been a way for Kate to "get back at Leah", since she was very involved in Spiritualism and made a living off it. Also, Maggie had come under a strong Roman Catholic influence. For these reasons and more, many people think that the Fox sisters were made a false confession to the press.

  • @jazzyazz Further more, what is striking to me is that at the original cottage in Hydesville the alleged spirit claimed that it had been murdered in the house and was a peddler named Charles B. Rosna. The spirit claimed to have been buried in the cellar. As the man says in this documentary, people immediately dug looking for the remains, but it wasn't until the early 1900's, after all of the sisters were dead, that a full skeleton was found -along with a peddlers tin box.

  • @jazzyazz The sisters and no one else had any knowledge of this man prior to the "rapping sessions" in 1848. They had no obvious way of knowing the man had been murdered, allegedly by the previous occupants of the house for his money. Where the skeleton was found was totally inaccesible; that is until the section containing it collapsed in 1904. Many skeptics question the authenticity of the box, but it is very interesting evidence. Whether the sisters were genuine or not, we don't really know.

  • @429Cage "Whether the sisters were genuine or not, we don't really know." But wait! We do know! I read what you've written and you seem knowledgeable and articulate, however, with all do respect, we do know that every claim thats been investigated to date has been falsified. The real world is exciting enough without having to believe myths and con jobs. Have a nice day.

  • @jazzyazz Well thanks for your compliments. You seem like a nice and knowledgeable person yourself. If you're talking about the Fox sisters, then you're more than likely right. Some mediums have not been adaquatley explained or ever detected in fraud (Leonora Piper, Gladys Osborne Leonard, Eileen Garrett, Daniel Dunglas Home, William Stainton Moses, Stella C, George Anderson, etc;). So yes there is widespread fraud in these things; but there are also many, many gray areas.

  • @jazzyazz I agree! But I have always been of the opinion that we should investigate every aspect of human experience, to see what truth lies there. Just because there is widespread fraud, doesn't mean that we should stop studying the claims; if anything, the few shimmers of light, such as Piper, should prompt us to investigate further. There is still much we have yet to comprehend about the real world! The idea is to be open minded, yet discerning. Willing to learn, yet not willing to be fooled.

  • @jazzyazz "And therefore as a stranger give it welcome.

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,

than are dreamt of in your philosophy." -Shakespeare

It must be noted that anyone who thinks they understand everything is fooling themselves. Any aspect of human experience that is as prominent as the many claims of experiences in the "paranormal", should be taken seriously and investigated as vigorously as any other field. Authentic or not, we need to understand what is going on.

  • This is another form of deception by athiest to reject the creator its evil

The philosophy appears to be they are aliens or extraterrestrials

    Starship enterprise nonsense LOL

  • I had a friend who committed suicide. As a form of closure I went to a graveyard one night and called upon him. Nothing happened. No apparition or voice. I later printed out a photo of the deceased and spoke to it. One of things I said related to the fact that he owed me for the pack of cigarettes I bought him in a joking matter. Next time I went to the same place in the graveyard I found five dollars - exactly where I'd called him (the price of the smokes). I asked for two knocks. I heard them

  • How can you talk about spiritualism and dont mention Allan Kardec ? Chico Xavier ? Brazil ? ...lol you have alot to learn brother.

  • @horamerda2 I think this chasm between the history of Spiritualism emerging from the Fox sisters, and the school of Spiritism begun by Allan Kardec, is a long-standing one. As far as I can tell, there's no animosity between these two similar-but-different traditions, but there doesn't seem to be much of an active relationship between them either.

  • Its not not shocking ppl turn to spiritulism, and mediums extra, as ppl have lost faith in so called christianty, the hypocrisy of the modern day church.and Its natural for ppl to want to satisfy they spiritual hunger else where.I have an open mind, but know it is very easy to be decieved, one argument Ive heard is that the satan can possess and impersonate ones loved ones through ppl. Who knows and there is alot unexplained things that happen I know that from personal expierance

  • spiritualism = very interesting.

  • This may well be the beginning of western spiritualism, however it eastern spiritualism has explained this phenomena for thousands of years.

  • Hi everyone, firstly I would like to point out that I am a scientist and I have completed my BSc (hons) degree and PhD in the UK. I understand the scepticism of many people and agree there are clearly people who fraudulently pretend to have mediumship abilities at the expense of others. However, I have personally had a few unexplained experiences in my life where I have seen people that I know are dead (because I went to their funeral) and no one else was present in some cases, to fabricate it!

  • just me, or the sound has gone?

  • @durringtonatlive it seems to be mono

  • The bloke giving the talk looks as slimy as an eel in a bucket of snot.

  • See "Spiritualism Fakery"

  • What kind of mother "forgets" how many children she has had? One could not make this stupid shit up!

  • @TheMoonMatrix You are doing better at name-calling. Why not write an instructional book? You can buy the only copy sold.

  • @TheMoonMatrix My, what a professional name-caller you are. Maybe you should write a book and call lots of people names. Maybe we can get Mr Splitfoot to kiss your backside. The 'exposure' could not explain the phenomena.

  • In my experience having seen hundreds of communications, no harm is done. If the "evil spirit" was communicating then you would expect an intent of harm. NEVER have I seen that happen. For those of us who do understand the process it is also a matter of trusting God, the Great Spirit and the integrity of the medium working. It is not blind faith, it is faith with knowledge.

  • How do you know if a spirit comes through claiming to be your dead grandma, telling you things knowone else coud know...How do you know it is your grandma an not some evil spirit deceiving you ??You dont!

  • @MrVforvendetta10 You sure give an 'evil spirit' a lot of credit. How is that 'evil spirit' going to get the information? That is why spirits give a lot of unimportant facts; to prove to the listener it is who the spirit claims it is.

  • @k0smon well im not given an evil spirit credit, i am pointing out evil spirits are masters of deception, and can pretend to be whatever they need to be in order to

  • @MrVforvendetta10 I think you give them more credit than they deserve. Where did you learn about these 'evil spirits'?

  • Loved the Enigma series on the Fox Sisters. Great to see how modern Spiritualism came to be. Loved the part in the church, the Open Door Sanctuary in Victoria, B.C. where the people got a message from loved ones who had passed. Check it out

One thing for certain, we will all be glad for the gift of mediumship when we want to get a message to our loved ones after we have passed to spirit. I know I love to hear from my loved ones just one more time.

  • the fox sisters admitted in the 1880s that they fake the noises by rapping their knees.

  • @danwanthankyouman Their admission was what was fake.

  • @k0smon wat do u mean??

  • @danwanthankyouman The Fox sisters claiming faking by cracking their toes was fake. The phenomena was real.

  • @k0smon haha. Are you braindead. Psychic and spiritual phenomena is all fake and purely imaginary. There is no hard evidence to support any of it and it can all be explained somehow (like all magic tricks).

  • @danwanthankyouman Who crowned you such a know it all? You are deaf, blind, and dumb, and wouldn't recognize a ghost if he threw a book at you. There is so much evidence for the continuation of life you really have to be a major nincompoop to ignore it. I can't think of any more names to call you, so you can go back to sleep.

  • @k0smon Get fucked. I'm not saying there isn't a continuation of life after we die, but there is no such thing as spiritual phenomena. Its all hocum. The Ouija board for instance is scientifically proven to be down to ideomotor (unconscious) movements and all psychics use techniques like cold reading to get a reaction (from morons like you as it happens) which they can dress as genuine contact with the dead. Haha, how old are you, like 7?

  • @k0smon The Fox sisters admitted that "Modern Spiritualism" was all a fraud from start to finish !

  • @MegaGayjesus They admitted to faking the raps, but their 'admission' was also found to be not credible. There was and is a lot more to 'modern spiritualism' than the Fox sisters. See victorzammit, com.

  • @k0smon The Fox sisters did fake the "rappings" I trust this will give some idea what frauds and low life cheats "Spiritualists" really are. And they also said Spiritualism was a fraud too.

  • @MegaGayjesus You give way too much credibility to a family of alcoholics.

  • @k0smon I would describe the Fox sisters as liars, frauds and cheats. Is that giving them credibility?

  • Spiritualism should never be classified legally as a religion. The spiritulist movement, doesn't need the politics, the rules and regulations of people who think they are gods gift!

  • The events of that Day remain uncertain no one has ever proved dead people communicate with anyone

  • Not for those who communicate with the dead. They KNOW the truth. I have received communications from the other side. It comes as a telepathic impression upon the mind (For me, at least). It's unmistakable, and beyond doubt.

  • Thanks for this concise history of Spiritualism

  • Great educational video. Thank you.

  • I am a medium and I have just started to go to Spiritualist Church XD

    It is awesome.

  • Thank you very much for these. I really hope more are made. I attend spiritualist church weekly and I feel I would like more information and teachings.

    Blessed be.

  • Is there a prayer that Spiritualist say to ward off evil spirits and other harmful forces? If so, what is it?

  • @auqarian1

You need not fear those in spirit coming to do harm, it is the living who are "evil spirits and harmful forces". Our loved ones come to communicate because they love us. It is not any different than a loved one who moves away to another city or country. They call to say I love you, I miss you and remember the moments we shared. That is all. No need to pray that away.

  • @auqarian1 ;;;There is no set prayer, it is a free-form prayer by whoever is doing the praying.

  • It's great that the SNU are producing short films. Tinaturner the Fox sisters events were proved true when the body of the pedlar was found in 1904, there is a museum which you can go and visit in America where you can see for yourself where the remains were found. Whilst we know that spirit communication is nothing new, the events which happened in Hydesville are believed by many to be the start of modern Spiritualism, everything has a beginning. I look forward to more films Love & Light G

  • Please make more. This was fantastic.

  • Good to see well presented and clear explainations about the philosophy of Spiritualism. Well done. More please.
