In every video of Epica that I've seen, every body is always comparing Simone to another singer. Why so? Love Simone, love Epica, love Tarja, love Nightwish, love Floor, love After Forever, love everything, enjoy and to try to find who's the best. It's useless and tirying.

What's with the comparison between Simone and Tarja? Their voices are different. Tarja has a more powerful voice, and Simone has a more.. Kinda refined voice.

@kisaramercury wrong. Simone is a more natural voice. Her breathing isn`t as deep as Tarjas... but a refined voice is of course a voice that has more overtones to it... opera singers have more overtones because of a long story...:P

Its really not a fair comparison because there is no way to determine which voice is better. If better means more technical and trained then sure Tarja has a "better" voice. Its a matter of personal preference, but in the end both of them are great singers.  My personal top three voices in metal is Tarja, Simone, and Floor.

Wow her voice is so powerful. I love metal femmale singers. Why? because they really sings, not like pop singers.

OK - so people are claiming Simone was 'off form' at Pinkpop and even unwell. And its true some performances were definately off!

But then explain to me why this one is so much better (sure she's a bit faltering at start) and this song is horrendous to perform live too. What's going on? Anyone?

@BenjaTooooost I think you have it in one. There are many comments about inconsistency of her singing at Pinkpop. And maye be she was off colour (dont know - wasn't there!). But the common factor in better performances (as here) is ability to be able to clearly monitor mix or use decent pair of cans as in the Acoustic sets. I was asking if anybody could help me out on this and it seems you agree. No attitude intended just a desire to get to the bottom of it (no pun intended on puss-ass)

The wieght of Simone's hair, thrown backwards at 4.48 - 4.55 exerts a little bit too much strain on her Back. 'Ouch' - that hurt!

Please don't chop it off though Simone will you? (Has she got a personal trainer and physio? - she needs one)

Three minutes twenty seconds with an essentially siren-like 'solo'.Simone (with nowhere to hide) - before that power backing thumps in and socks you backwards (at 4.06) - followed by that slick , slippery guitar solo. That's true Style.

That's Structure and arranging Skill ..... That's Vision.

And that's why Epica is no ordinary band (never mind no ordinary 'Metal' band.

(However - not all their stuff is up to this quality).

NOBODY.

I'm getting the tingles just listening to this. Yes its cold outside - but that's not the reason.

One other thing;

The WHOLE band is FANTASTIC in this (especially that lead guiiar at 4.46 and the drumming ). And the arrangement is SUBLIME ...

This is one VERY SPECIAL NUMBER!

You nailed it! Or rather Simone did. She's totally relaxed on this performance before a 'home' crowd. Consequently she produces one of her 'top drawer' deliveries, particularly on those vulnerable high bits at.1.54, 2.36, 2.45, 2,58, 3.52, 4..06 I've sifted through the hundreds of live renderings of this where she goes out of tune and people shout over her and the sound's distorted. THIS IS THE BEST.. SIMONE IS AMAZING ON THIS >

she is not really a pop singer she has classic sound just for this song it is lighterin this song, besides other pop singrs don't usually have such a beautiful voice like this, and if they do they lip sync. illusive consensus is a good example of the classic side

That's what I like about Epica... they play almost extreme metal but Simone is somewhat a pop singer! I love this strange mix! I think a totally classical voice would be too anonymous...

One of my favourite songs of DYU. I don´t know what you think about, in my opinion, Simone looks really beautiful in the band´s live performances with the makeup she uses, those dresses and the hairdoing, but for me, it´s a very pop look for a metal singer, sometimes she even seems to be ready for a prom night. Guess she must change that look for a "darker" one, besides she don´t need all that make up, she is naturally beautiful.
