Extraordinaire! Extaordinaire au sens premier du terme.... Mais où va-t-il chercher tout cela? Qui est David Lynch?, qu'est-ce qu'il y a dans un David Lynch?, de quoi est-ce composé un David Lynch? Its the syntax and the subtext...it's what's NOT being said...it's that silence in between the dialouge...therein lies the real story and the TRUTH..........INLAND is the best i've ever seen from Lynch
DUDE,SERIOUSLY?...THE LAUGH TRACK IS LIKE THE BEST PART..DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE AINT SHIT FUNNY GOIN' ON..THERE'S A HUGE DARK SECRET LOOMING OVER EVERYTHING,AND THERE AINT NOTHIN' FUNNY ABOUT IT..THATS Y IT'S SO BRILLIANT..THE LAUGHTER MOCKS THE CONFUSION AND THE PAIN..IT'S LIKE SOME HELLISH NIGHTMARE...INLAND EMPIRE IS THE TRUTH...TOO DEEP FOR MOST...AND VERY,VERY DISTURBING.."WHEN WILL U TELL IT?"..TELL WHAT?..whose hiding something?..."I AM GOING TO FIND OUT 1 DAY"....TOTALLY.....SINISTER
I find absolutely NOTHING scary/creepy/frightening, etc. about this, nor did I when I saw it at Svetozor kino. To me, it was overtly self-indulgent, inexplicable, and completely distracting from the film. Then again, horror movies never, ever scare me, while others are terrified by some schmuck running around with a knife and some stupid mask on. Or silly stuff like Saw or The House On Haunted Hill.
Perhaps the things they say aren't in order, and it's up to us to put them in order? Or the rabbits are just saying random things. I don't know. It wasn't entertaining, somewhat boring, and somewhat creepy.
i know people think this is disturbing....i'd say creepy at best. but mostly boring. reminds me of a bad film school project to be honest. "hey, what if the actors wore rabbit masks, and they said random lines...but CREEPY. oh! and i'll throw in some random applause and laugh tracks, THATS totes creepy!..AND i'll have a creepy voice say things over the color red! because red is creepy right? right?!" i know its Lynch, so its supposed to be a big deal or whatever, but i think its just silly
@ninjakitty21 I am not trying to defend Lynch or anything, but you could say that kind of comment basically to any work of modern art. This is not criticism, you just bring out some details of the film and pick on them. Might as well comment for example Pollock's work like 'Yo, whats the point of dripping all this paint randomly to the canvas, this is meaningless bs'. Like Dylan said: 'Don't criticise what you can't understand'.
@xNotCool I was with you until that last little comment you had to throw in. I'm not trying to get nasty, but don't take someone's disliking of something as "they just don't understand." Anyone can fully understand a piece of work and still dislike it. I actually have a BFA in arts, I've studied this stuff. I'm merely pointing out that I think people think this is a lot deeper than what it is because of who made it. If this was posted by a "nobody" would it get the same acclaim?
@xNotCool Also,I have a snarky attitude. Please don't confuse that with lack of intelligence.I stand by my "silly" assessment. If you find deeper meaning in it,that's great.Talking about modern art,I like Koons, which many others don't.Do I think he's a genius artist? No.Don't criticize others because they have a different ascetic. To use your own Dylan quote"Don't criticize what you can't understand." You don't know me, nor I you,so by definition, you don't understand me.So dial it back,k?
@KageegeeDJ Name calling,or in this case, making fun of someone's name (less imaginative) is not an argument.Rather it's a plea for attention from someone who has nothing to contribute to a conversation.I'm sorry that my childhood nickname is not up to your very high youtube username standards.Next time I'll pick something that, instead of being dear to my heart, expresses to the anonymous public how educated I am.or maybe its a known fact that both ninjas and kitties are effin awesome
@ninjakitty21 Just by continuing this shallow argument only further proves that you are the attention whore here. But please, explain to me in depth how calling out a YouTube user name is a "Plea for attention".
@KageegeeDJ You're right, consider this my last response, which I'm doing only because you asked. Also, you started this "shallow argument". Explanation? 1.It's stupid. 2.It doesn't have anything to do with the argument points. 3.If my having a stupid named mattered, what's your point? Because you don't like my name my point of view means nothing? 4.You starting this exchange with me, you are the "attention whore" here. I would much rather not have ever spoken to you. The end.
@ninjakitty21 You DO take up the majority of the comments with barely thought out responses and you come to a David Lynch video, to what? Watch the movie? Surely you jest! Because by the looks of it you ARE striving for attention. then again Arguing on the internet might bring you a false sense of superiority when you berate others opinions for the sole purpose of feeling good about yourself. I bid you adieu
@KageegeeDJ, you're doing the exact same thing. So either you're wrong, or you're both doing something wrong. Either way you're getting over defensive over a video on the internet because someone voiced an opinion you don't like. Also attacking a username, then trying to make yourself the mature one is pretty shameful. I don't agree with ninjakitty21's opinion, but s/he's not trolling or whoring for attention, and it's making you look like the dick here... just saying.
@ninjakitty21 how? weird, yes. maybe a little directionless, but I don't understand how pretentious would apply to these videos. I'm not trying to insult, I'm genuinely curious about why you would think pretentious is the word for these. I don't get that.
@montblanc1 It just reminds me of some art student, purposefully inserting strange or deliberately questionable content, purely to get the reaction from the audience of "what does that mean?". And when someone "doesn't get it", Lynch's response would be "well, it IS very deep..." instead of giving some actual answer. Whether this is the case, I don't know. That's just how I experienced it. I'm not saying someone is stupid for liking it, I personally don't like it.
@montblanc1 Also, thanks for not being a jerk :). Like I've said, I'm a student of art, and I love to have contrasting conversations on critiques of artworks. Just because someone has a different opinion, definitely doesn't mean one person is "right" and the other "wrong". Thanks for speaking to me like adults should speak to each other, I had no idea that my little opinion would cause such waves. So yeah, I appreciate it lots :)
@ninjakitty21, no problem. I don't see reason to criticize your view because it's yours, some people instantly get defensive, I don't know why, it's not like they created the film. Anyway, I get what you're saying. Knowing who David Lynch is, I wouldn't be surprised if there actually wasn't a deeper meaning, but who knows. Even if there isn't, I find it disturbing anyway, and ultimately, in that respect, it succeeds (for me anyway).
I still don't think pretentiousness is the word though, maybe simple, or transparent, in the same way a jump scare is. It's just there for that reason, it's just one is for subtle horror, as opposed to shock. If this were a college students side project, then I'd probably say you're right, the fact that it's David Lynch makes me think it's not trying to be deep, just disturbing.
I can't watch this. I'm intimidated by it, it somehow makes me feel empty inside while it merely does nothing. I have to keep looking away from the screen, not because I think there is a pop up or some shit but because it's staring right through me, waiting until I break.
This is the creepiest film I have ever watched. Oh My God, what is this?! This is the strange film with inappropriate laughter and disturbing music. I never seen something like that.
