  • why does the quality on these damn videos suck!

  • Sorry but this suck! He plays with no emotion.. :/

  • who is this?

  • im playing this peice!!!!!!!! its so hard

  • @jekaroxssss I am too.. :) I can never get the dynamics right, the way he played it was so brilliant.

  • I like it this fast actually :D

  • This piano sounds way too sharp.. it needs a more mellow sound

  • Pardon me, but some comments are purely dumb. A Chopin waltz is not meant to be danced, and so speed can be exaggerated , its a piano piece. The performance here is very expressive with A LOT of emotion. So again, I am surprised how many thumbs up some of the stupidest comments get. I guess stupidity is never scarce, I wish cash was like that!

  • @shilloshillos So true my friend and thanks for clarifying that. He is an excellent expressionist and I love the way he explodes in his tempo then pulls it back at the same time. Exactly how the rubato technique was developed. My wording is probably a little odd but I think you know what I am getting at. ; )

  • too fast !!!!!!

  • I think, respectfully, although he has a great skill, he played this piece like a robot with a midi sheet in his brain, without emotion.

  • It's sad to know that if you don't have a great pianist to teach you, you won't make it through the world of music. And you can only afford to study with great pianists if you have lots of money, otherwise you'll just be playing easy pieces, with no feeling, no technic

  • Why play this waltz so fast? When dancing a waltz, it does not run... A correct panist must play this waltz with his heart and not with his stopwatch!...

*I'm French and my English is very bad =/

  • I think it sounds kinda cool when played fast; but good slow too. Either way it sounds beautiful :)

  • way to fast. not cool

  • My piano teacher would hate this: always telling me to slow down!

  • Im 6 months old and I learnt it in 2 hours and it was extremely easy.

  • @TheChosenOne1ful haha, good one :)

  • @TheChosenOne1ful

easy? whats your definition of learnt?

Sure you may be able to play this song after practising for only 2 hours, but you may not be able to play it nicely.

Like what Beethoven had said to a bridge engineer " You built bridges to connect pieces of land while i create music to connect peoples' souls"

If you cant "connect peoples' souls" when you play the song, you haven't truely learnt it...

  • @superxinyang Jesus Christ I was just joking mate, how could be able to learn such a hard song after only 2 hours, and being only 6 months old, I mean for real people u are starting to lose the planet u are on to.

  • Beautiful!

  • i love it.. wow

  • Very interesting how some people here judge a brilliant player like Sergio.

The art is to develope his own version, put your own emotions the way you are into the piece, that is playing piano and not trying to copi something you cant understand.

  • Very, very technically proficient. I wish that he'd slow down though. There's nothing I can say about his technique, but he plays this song not much to my preference.

I suppose it's nice to mix it up though. Who's to say?

  • I like the tempo during the slower parts, but he does play too fast during the fast parts....... But he's still amazing!

  • I love it

  • very great!! I can't believe how people can play this fast and amazing...*_*

  • Great

  • Great pianist. TY.

  • he def powers through it; tad too fast as aforementioned

  • lmao he comes back like a million times at the end

  • ech, too stuccatto. idil biret did a better job. it was smoother...

  • @ tharwpoop: Haha, I was thinking exactly the same!! ='p

  • You ask why he plays so fast? Because he's a virtuoso and can do as damn well pleases.

  • @pupusman That's like saying it's okay for a ballet dancer to spin on their head and do a couple back flips just because they can. Performing classical piano shouldn't be about showing off; it should be about preserving a piece of artwork.

  • @amazingsierra

I disagree, playing any instrument is all about showing off. The problem comes in when you substitute emotion or feeling with technique. Since he maintained stability and tone through the fast passages, it makes the fast parts sound exciting and invigorating.

  • a little bit too fast ...

  • Amazing performances

  • The old man doesn't know how to read a sheet...

  • @hellboyreloaded as if you're better than him. :p

  • @hellboyreloaded obviously he does, being a musician you don't have to follow the sheet for every little thing. You are your own person, you can interpret things the way you please. There is no right or wrong way to play anything, that's just dumb.

  • that was good. but way too fast, slow down.

  • wtf...? stop clapping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SUX LIKE HELL

this piece is supposed to be played slowly

this old fag fucked this song

    FUCKED IT!

  • He's really good but no one has beaten the Rubinstein yet! They all have been too slow or in hurry to something.

  • In my opinion, this is a wonderful interpretation.

  • i wonder why so many of the pianists play the ending boom-cha left hand as boom-[rest]=cha?

  • This interpretation is radically different from many I've heard. It's still great though. Yeah, I think the tempo is a bit fast for my liking.

  • For far,it's the best version I appreciate : )

  • I LIKE HE PKAYS FASTER AND FASTER... BUT HE FASTENS TOO FAST...sorry... my caps lock was on

  • i like this. this waltz is often 'twisted' into all kinds of shapes and sizes. in this performance there is just the right amount of rubato and artistic freedom. the middle section is expressive without being indulgent. the fast sections are not too fast - fingerwork is clear, and it is exciting to listen to

  • tempo T.T

  • maestro mi inchino

  • i say the whole piece was played too fast. Tho the piece is supposed to be fast, but not that fast.

  • I don't agree with his style of playing on the fast parts. He plays way too fast and it gets rid of any emotion and expression. You could get a robot to do that...

  • so well played

  • Chopín isn't meant to be played correct, it's meant to be interpreted. This is another interpretation of the undying classic. Sure, for those that has heard the original tune, it's a bit fast. I have as well, but I think this is a really good performance.

  • grazie!!

  • too fast, but hey, the guy played it correclty, this is a high tempo waltz song, strange though... howa waltz can be this fast

  • @tharwpoop

Chopin wrote many of these "stylized" dances - they are not supposed to be physically danced to

  • @tharwpoop yknow... your right. but its so clean, if he can pull it off, good for him, yknow?

  • @tharwpoop Don't all the other masters play this waltz just as fast if not faster?

  • @tharwpoop To my ear, this sounds more of a serenade a la Schubert than a classical waltz a la Strauss or Shostakovich. (if you pardon my using only composers that start with the "Sh" sound: Chopin, Schubert, Strauss, Shostakovich).

  • @tharwpoop it's fine

  • Very Cool! Bravo! =)

  • @SergioMarcioBR very cool? ASOME!!!!!!

  • E' semplicemente FANTASTICO!

  • Comment removed

  • omg, this is the best recording i've ever heard by a mile.

  • good work, r.i.p. sergio

  • hard to dance in this waltz due to the tempo

great player with great technique though....

  • interesting to see someone play this fast for performance. I reckon it still sounds great!

  • TOO FAST!!!

  • too fast in my opinion :/

  • yes!

  • chopin himself didn't set the tempo, can't really say that's too fast. however i do think slower will be better =] still great performance

  • the awesomness of that incredible piano will stay with me till i die .... you old fucker how do you do it

  • i played this song for probably over a year and is still stuck at that midle part xP I can't believe he's your teacher-you must be really good

  • Excellent performance. It is a personal fast interpretation. Very very good.

  • 0:59~ 1:10 this part is too fast, I think.

  • I thought excatly the same

  • I personaly think it's WAY too fast ! Anyway, great music...

  • I can´t believe you are fighting listening this wonderful Chopin's composition!

  • wow he was ur teacher O.o

  • 2 general performers composers, they are all baby makers and lovers, they do compose but are mostly into hip hop. So long to composers like Chopin, you won't see that anytime soon. Bring on the baby makers.

  • Yeah I don't like the speed in the B section.

Although it shows him off well, it ruins the melody.

Weird how some people interpret a piece compared to others. End of the day, its just how somebody wants to play it.

  • I'm not against anykind of music if you like good for them. However, I cannot relate, it seems whtever sounds are made, in one fashion or another they have been derived from Bach or Beethoven. Chopin was just original, but I do hear his work in the fastest grundge and metal too.

  • people cant compose like this taody because they are mentally stupid and fuvking make babies instead.

  • I think when it is played too fast the melody and it abeuty disappears.

  • I agree

  • you know nothing, you cant compose worth shit, try composing something like this.

  • Chopin's awesome. I have to correct your claim that I "know nothing". I am the world foremost authority on my opinion. In my opinion it's played too fast.

  • I agree, it's too fast. I was going to play this song for my piano exams last year, but had to choose another instead.

  • dont swear or curse anyone for making hiphop or making babies, if they cant compose songs like this then so what?i have a suggestion, instead of telling people to try composing something like this song, why dont u urself compose a song like this? yeaa then if u think contemporary composers are babymakers or whatever, why dont u urself then continue chopin's work by composing classic songs now? not telling others those contemporary composers to compose classic?

  • Mind your own business and get busy making babies. You probably one of those pushing a baby cart around on sunday Afternoon. No offense, but we have enough people in this world already. Your just setting up "Natural Selection" so more babies can pop out.

  • just so u know: A loser is someone who curse, swear, and belittle other people but he,himself, can do nothing. ure telling that me and those contemporary composers are babymakers and tell them to compose classic. Well some people love classics, some people dont, thats why they dont compose classic. its similar like telling chopin to compose hiphop. if u tell today's composers are babymakers/rubbish why dont u make your own classic songs then?i will STOP here.

  • "Its" is not "its" it is it's, get your grammar right before you go preaching.

  • ...

    jerk.

  • you contemporary fuck stfu, classical was the best bitch

  • it is great playing, however the waltz is'nt supposed to be played in 16ths and 32's :P I do believe the tempo is 3/4 and 16ths in the chorus but still, it's a great interpretation. To pull it off this fast takes a hell of alot of skill, believe me I tried :P 10/10 :) nice piece

  • très peu pour moi... la façon d'éteindre le son en fin de partie "più mosso" est ...heuu très frappante ^^ pour pa dire horrible ^^

  • Comment removed

  • i like the phrase where "piu mosso"- his right hand is agile and lively, quite different to other performers playing like. but it's that a little bit fast coz waltz is for ppl dancing in the past, and i think that ppl in the period of time would play it a little slower for dancing.

  • idk... i like this speed.

  • Why does he play it so fast? I don't think Chopin intended it to be prestissimo

  • SO GOOD

  • He's so good he has to come back to the stage to bow three times before the crowd stops applauding, and that's only because the video was fading out.

    Pro.

  • my last name is fiorentino, maybe hes related to me.

  • It's incomprehensible. It's like fast- fowarding a speech and abruptly slowing it down. Terrible interpretation...but excellent technique.

  • couldnt have summed it up any better myself

    toooooo fast

  • Great!! I wanna tell to those people who say he plays too fast that he plays Chopin!! What do you expect? It's not a praeludium, it's a walse! And the walses are all fast...IT WAS JUST GREAT!!!!

  • I agree most waltzes of Chopin are fast, but this one is supposed to be beautiful and romantic in the beginning (which I congratulate him for doing so), but in the arpeggios, I would suggest he do them a little slower so that the listener can easily feel the music. All in all, this man has a spectacular technique!!!

  • No need to do that, when you have your notes you have especific instructions to play the song wright. In this case he was interpretatin the song on to his own way, not Frederic's way.

    BAM!

  • Ahah, and who says that Fryderick played his music slowly?? Have you ever heard Chopin playing his music while he was alive?? NO!!! Unless you were born 200 years ago, and I suppose you weren't born 200 years ago, you can't know the personal opinion of the composer. Anyway, a personal technique and a personal way to play is the right way to feel the music...in my opinion, of course

  • There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

    -- Johann Sebastian Bach

You know the personal interpretation of Frederic Chopin's pice because HE WROTE IT! F-Y-I In general, when a pice is published, all instructions on how to play it come on the music sheet. This pice has instructions of playing it "pui lento" and "pui mosso" with "tiempo guisso". But anyways, what would you know?

    BAM!

  • Imagine if someone were to loudly exclaim "BAM!" each time he utters a comeback. Now take that person, and replace his face with yours. Yes. You are a douche-bag.

  • umm yeah ill igrnore that comment cus it made no scence O: love Chopin lol

    BAM!

  • Simply put, you're a douchebag.

  • um no im a pianist :)

    OOOOOO!!!!!!! O:

    BAM!!

  • I guess you're both.

  • now u cant prove your ridiculous answer, ur just guessing.

    BAAAAAAMMM!!!!!

  • One look at your profile picture and anyone can tell that you're a douchebag.

  • its called a sexy piano player ;)

    yours is better lol

    BBAAAAMMMM!!

  • no it's called a douche. period.

  • what?

    Is it your period?

  • no. it's the period to the sentence. it signifies finality.

  • Well it is setteled that you are an ignorant.

    Period = Finality

    BBAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!

  • yes, that's what i said. you just repeated it. either you're really stupid or you're a dirty Mexican...oh wait, i just looked at your profile...

  • lol ummm i will ignore that comment because it made no sence, no point :)

    Mexican hot spicy pianist ;)

    BAM!!!!!!

  • k, I'm sure I represent almost EVERY SINGLE PERSON who has EVER read ANY of your stupid comments.

    SHUT UP WITH THE BAM!

  • And anyway it's his way to feel the music he plays, and he play it clearly, fastly, and I think that for these reasons his technique is spectacular..

  • Bello ma...veloce!

  • woah.

    obviously amazing technique.

    but too fast!!

  • hey hey!!! what's the rush??

  • heyy i thought so especially in the first part... i guess he has some work to do after the concert so finish it up and go :D

  • io lo so suoanre meglio!!:p

  • Where can I find the lyrics to this?

  • yes, I agree, it's a bit too fast, but he can AFFORD to play this way...probably he wants to underline the contrast between the three themes in the composition...

  • im not an expert, but this seems to be played way too fast, like his fingers are vomiting the notes onto the piano.

  • why don't you put your mouth to my ass and have at it, pretty boy.

  • Simply beautiful.. thank you for putting this up.

  • "a copy of horowitz" what a nonsense lol

  • I agree, sounds virtually the same like Horowitz', except the second part this guy played double the speed of Horowitz.

  • I like this performance, this one sounds very similar to that of Horowitz'.

The only different is that the B part was played fast right away, yet Horowitz started slow. Otherwise, it is just a copy of Horowitz'. Anyway, I really like this style.

  • excellent!

  • Wow, how nice to discover this great pianist! I very much love his interpretations, and though I'm a big fan of Pollini for chopin interpretations, this talentuous pianist is really growing on me! Thanks for the post!

  • ok ty.

    =) now trying op34 no2

  • nice! any advise for the pedaling?

    ty

  • re-pedal when the underlying chord changes (c,e,g to g, c, e is not a change, those are both I chords, while ceg to c, f, a is etc.)

  • nice.. but sadly i dun have this piano score.

  • I have the score, although I just realized I only have the first page. I'm going to check the website I got it from to see if they have the rest.

  • He was a very great pianist but not known well enough. Fortunately, he recorded many things. I only recently discovered him. I wish someone would post his arrangement of the Rosenkavalier waltzes which I think are marvelous. Actually it is his arrangement of the Otto Singer transcription of the waltzes, and he adds so much to them. Do you know if Fiorentino's arrangement is published? I would like to get a copy if that is possible.

  • :) che bello :') il maestro del mio maestro....

  • questa è la musica più bella di tutti i tempi...quella che ti dà i brividi e ti travolge in un'altra dimensione

  • very nice overall, but way too fast in the b section in my opinion.. it sort of kills the melody, but yes, you can surdently hear the experience of the man.. ♪

  • ...Such a gem to find on Youtube! I'm a great admirer of Fiorentino's pianism, and I don't think Italy has had so many great pianists who could feel totally at ease and show their full genius playing the most charming miniatures (or Transcriptions) and the monumental works, too. His artistic vocabulary was simply unreal.
