Aww, this is so sad! I definitely agree with Nearer My God To Thee--such a beautiful song. Whenever I hear it, I am always reminded of the Titanic in the movie and I always have to stop and listen to it. I never thought about it before, but If I Die Young would be a good song, too.

The second song to the last one "if I die young by band Perry, was played at my cousins funeral.! I was taking care of her 2 year old son, he was hurt and lost not knowing where his mommy was at.! I miss my cousin.! She was only 20 years old, very well known, had a beautiful smile on 24/7.!

@20callenderslady I know. I said TOP ten. :) Meaning, the higher on the list it is, the more I want it to be played. For example, if my family can't/won't play the songs that are higher on the list, they could play one of the ones lower on the list. Or they could play any, really. It's more like, "Any of these songs could be played at my funeral and I would like it."

my couson who died last year had keep holding on cos i said to them she loved tht song and when she was dieing she said to he "Faye when i die please take my dog and look after him,please tell my mom and dad and rest oof are family that ill always be with you please make sure im buried to keep holding on" and her last  words were "i love you more than anything your like my sis not couson" then she died. i wish she didnt have to die though

There is only one song to play at a funeral. Jake Thackray singing 'Last Will and Testament'. My late partner asked for it to be played at his, and I would love it played at mine. If you are more traditional, try Ewan MacColl singing 'The Joy of Living'. It's beautiful.

I really like Lillium but that's 'cause I have seen the anime. Also I play the beginning part on marimba :) It's a gorgeous piece and I want to learn the full thing. One more thing, do some research on a song before you play it at your funeral 'cause some songs aren't talking about the departed.

I can understand that some songs aren't specifically about the departed, but they could be interpreted as such. I understand an artist usually has a specific idea in mind when writing or singing/playing a song, but the song also can be open to the interpretation of the audience. :)
