I miss the 70's when you could buy an EJ album and not only get great music and great lyrics but you also got awsome album cover art, a poster and a lyrics booklet with awesome pictures. He loves us as much as we love him. I'm sure of it.
Nice job with the video, I love the old images of Elton John. It was funny because when I was in High School my nickname was "E.J." because I mainly listened to Elton John, and because of that, I became a Professional Musician because of his influence. It's funny in some ways, my Step-Father thought I was gay because I listened to Elton John, and, wanted a piano for Christmas. I treasure every song of his that I learned, and the influence to pursue music. greydog0417@yahoo.com
@shadowfax0417 I too treasured every note of E.J's music back then. But was I the only one who didn't know he was gay until the 90's? It certainly never mattered, but to think someone was gay just because they loved this music is totally crazy. Not that there's anything wrong with that lol.
Elton WAS a genius with Bernie Taupin. The whole band, just wonderful. After he went solo, I quit liking his music and never bought any of his stuff. Makes me wonder who the real genius was.
Great pics. What a blast buying this album when it first came out. I remember opening the shrink wrap and having what seemed like tons of goodies tumbling out.
Scrapbook, Lyric book, Poster. All so visually dazzling, right down to the label on the album. Then the music by Elton and Bernie, executed flawlessly by Davey, Dee, Nigel, and Ray. Imagine getting something brand new with all of that NOW...for just $5 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For me it's always been Elvis and Elton then Bruce and Billy but this album I put right up there with "Born To Run" by the Boss. I liked it so much that I bought the Bally pinball machine named after this tune. : ) Thanks guys for all the great tunes and shows!
@CurtisHalfHalf That's it? That's your comment? A hit and run with no reason, no examples that would prompt you to say that? Hummm I guess a 1 digit IQ causes that. Come back when you grow up and you're not sucking on your mothers tit.
@Coolrockndad You got alot of nerve mister, I wasnt talking about you personally, why the hell should you be offended anyway?....I dont appreciate you mentioning the bullshit 'Boss' in the same paragraph as Elvis and Elton John, he's nowhere near them....I wasnt vulgar towards you in my comment, you didnt have to mention my mother....youre the one who needs to grow up.....punk.
@CurtisHalfHalf Hey you dropped the "F" bomb first not me.That's being vulgar! My oringinal post was very nice to all.
It's great music from all of these guys. Bruce has proved himself over and over to be on top of anyones list.
You still didn't say why you got all upset over me mentioning Bruce. Just a hit and run wasn't nice either.; now was it? By the way I thought you were a kid .. I see on your channel you're 72, I'm close to that age as well. Sorry about the mom reference.
@Coolrockndad Look, Im apologizing for the whole thing, I was inappropriate, please excuse me. I just dont care for Bruce Springsteen but I was out of line with what I said. Im not exactly 72, Im younger but we probably like alot of the same music. I really didnt mean to cause trouble like this. Once again, Im sorry sir.
@CurtisHalfHalf I grew up on Elvis and no one came close in the early years. Same with Bruce he's one of the biggest Elvis fans around. He alway would finish his shows with Elvis's "Can't Help Falling In Love". I saw Elvis in 72 at the graden and yes Bruce was there just like any other fan and yes it's true Bruce jumped the gate at Graceland to try and meet Elvis. Anyway the point I guess I wanted to make is Bruce keeps the real rock&roll alive and I thank him for it. ; )
@Blewline67 I cant agree more. The 70s was the best decade in music and in life (at least for me) Where there was no genres and no record companies dictating what gets airplay. Anyone with talent had their chance to be heard and 70s radio was just like a form of euphoria.
Mainstream music these days only wish they had 1/10th the talent of artists like Elton John.
I think I went thru 2 eight tracks and 4 cassettes of this Elton John Album....Bernie and Elton Kick Ass on this album....Thank for sharing...Stay Gold
Very good, but replace Philadelphia Freedom cover with Long John Bawdry cover...when he sings to hot for the band, that is the band he is referring to.
BRAVO! I love the pics you chose, especially of Bernie and Elton. What a cool picture disc of the album, I didn't know it existed. I have one for A Single Man. Great video for a great song. Thanks for posting this.
Great video, thanks very much. This album was the first of all my EJ collection, as a 14 year old it really opened my eyes to great songwriting , lyrics etc. Later in life I became a pro Elton John impersonator!! I even doubled for Elton on one of his videos, then got fat and alas I do a Meat Loaf show now!!!
VERY nice video! Very well done, and a special tribute to a "fantastic" artist and LP, gosh I still remember mine, but I don't know where it's gotton to after all these years...anyway, thanks for posting this!! : )
Hey I want to thank the kids of the graduating class of 2009 for getting me a cd of this record (as it was in my day). I know I was only Bob the Janitor but you guys made my day at graduation. Yall didnt believe there was an album by Elton John by this title and the Lion King was his claim to fame in your eyes. Also thanks fer hookin me up with the computer, Ill get the hang of it I think. Oh yeah great prank with my cart and the flag pole I owe ya Ben ya sneakey shit ya.
Very impressive slideshow. One that totally fits the song, a lot of slideshows are just random pictures of the artist. This one fits this classic song
Many thanks 4 posting this gr8 song. Big fan of J,E but & Bernie but don't understand these lyrics, can anyone advise, tried everything but can't come up with anything. Soz Bernie the lyrics suck ths time, or I'v e lost the plot.lmusic is gr8
This album was a biographical look on bernie and elton way back when. This was their album. It was telling their story. Elton is Captian Fantastic and bernie is the brown dirt cowboy. This song is their beggining. Thats why I love it.
Great song. . . . .although I've understood why he felt the need to mock Jesus' return in the lyrics . . . . . such a shame. Like putting a skunk in a rose garden.

"I quite agree. His phrasing is so fluid, and his dynamics are a beautiful finish coat to a wonderful arrangement."
please explain dynamics, it seems broad
In other words do the dynamics make the song ? and what makes the song for u ?
lyrics?
melody?
I like the tempo change
its like a cold showa
