Another big advantage of LiFePO4 batteries is the fact that they're a lot safer than lead-acid batteries if your electric car is ever involved in a (God forbid) crash.
@ccoasterdesigner Lithium Ion cells are not as safe as LiFePO4 cells (ie. if you overcharge them or they get too hot, or are punctured, lithium ion cells can explode).
Also, LiFePO4 cells have a better discharge curve and are able to prodive many times more amps then they are rated (some can provide upto 30x the amps they are rated at) - which is more suited to use in electric cars.
why not use capacitors in place of the batteries? there lighter and idk they would more less run out.. and they charge faster to use a ac motor and you can drive a lot further
Keerist, yer Sean Connery impression was killer, gave me a kick-ass chuckle! They were all great. Don't forget German, 'Diesen Batteries ist sehr gut, ja!' Vietnamese, 'Boom-Boom, Numba Ten!' Mexican, "El Grande batteries, mucho magnificat!' and so forth. Definitely killer. But, So, like how much did these babies COSTO, eh????
Muy expensiva, no?
Dig on your project, I love DIY electric-car conversions.
What did you total 144v pack cost you down under? A 144v pack of 90AHA LiFo4 batteries are $8,955.00 US Retail. Curious if there are large duties to importing good batteries into the US.
@RocketMaker10000 The price you quote is very high. 144v is 45 cells, and 45x Thundersky 90AHA cells is only $4,455 - about half the price you quoted. For $8,955 you can buy 72xr CALB (SkyEnergy) 100AH LiFePO4 cells for more travel distance per charge and more power from your motor :)

Also, why did you choose the batteries that you did? Even over the other type of lithium?

LiFePO4 as in Lithium Iron (not ion) Phosphate.
Fe is the symbol for iron.

They store much less coulomb. You could maybe build a drag racer with them but not a car to drive around with.

How well did they work in the electric give us some details

Capacitors are meant for a lot of electricity at one time not some spread out.
ccoasterdesigner 2 years ago
@ccoasterdesigner why cant you spread it out we have other components that could slow the discharge it can be done its just more a question of how
