  • you guys are pretty good. i'm gonna be playing this song in a couple days for a concert so i hope our band does good!

  • my favorite part of this song is the trombone soli... but they don't play it as loud as our band and i prefer the dominance of the trombones there but it still sounds great

  • what age are the members???

  • DON'T TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY

Was this in japan or something cuz all I saw was Japanese(I think) players so of course this piece was played 5/5!

Compared to this school my school sucks... really.

    Anyway that was great!

  • this piece is played by our school band, muSSIco... also my favorite! ^^

  • yoh cno 2

  • wahaha..

  • i played this lyk a week ago. it wasnt this fast. i play the bass clarinet. n im only n high skewll so i got a while.

  • my band just played that song about 30 minutes ago ;)

  • I love this song. My band teacher told me (a Choir nerd) he needed me in band so he could have a percussionist who could read music (LOL). This was the first song I had to do, and I had all four mallet parts to myself!!! Intense.

  • thats really sad if there werent any percussionist that could read music. but thats still awesome that ur in choir and get to play percussion parts in band. I am the ultimate band nerd. (not kidding) my brother thinks that choir, band and orchestra is for retwaded people.

  • this song is one of the overtures my band have played for our concert

  • the song is good and all i'm playine it in by band but it's so easy.

The one really good play is:

    First suite in Eb flat.

That's the best piece in the world

  • I'm (trying to) play this song in my band class and im in grade 9.. Its pretty hard..

  • .....hard????? -.-

    Easy ;D

  • YO dallas dis is kwaku

if ur not dallas then forget me

  • hey kwaku whats up

  • I played this my seventh grade year. it was slightly challenging then, but I had only been playing my instrument for a year.

    it's pretty easy. =D

    what instrument/part do you play?

  • I play trombone

But now I can play it decently

It was hard when I first started XD

  • You know what. I play this song on competition. and win. but my band are only the band that send on competition on my area. Lol second round I was lose.

  • hehe, i just played this piece today :D

i can onli play from bar 20 to 51 T_T

    just learned :D

  • Comment removed

  • If I can play only that like you. I must run around the band for punishment.

    For beginner that good.

    keep Practice.

  • I luv this song, played it in 8th grade as a tuba(James Swearingen was a tuba as well) and i love it. The slow part is just sooo cool!! :)

  • TUBA!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • yup. we have 2 tubas. i am 1st chair so.... i play high school stuff..but i am in 7th grade playing with the 8th grade band

  • the speed is aright. its normal if i'm not mistaken. nice band

  • 我地隊band都有奏~

    好好聽xd!

  • Espetacular...Estão de Parabéns...

  • Go Flutes!!!!!!!!!!!! im a flutist my self :D

  • One thing instruments up not in stands other than that awesome

  • Overall Gd sound and balance but a bit too fast at the 2/4 part..its 144 but try goin slower a bit.

  • how come the beginning is that fast? it's supposed to be maestoso ain't it?

  • "Maestoso" doesn't effect the speed of the song? Isn't it? And I think the song is quite beautiful when it's more fast. Should the player always rule by the rules? They can change it!

  • we played this piece. And we did quite well

    "muSSIco" Statefields School band. :D

  • Really? Statefields Philippines?

  • yes. ^^ why ?

  • our middle school band sight read this piece its pretty challenging but very kool

  • our qyo band had to join with a high school band and we had to sight read the song for the concert we were pretty gud but ur version is way better

  • ,,wow.. awesome!!,,,i love playing this piece,,,i really enjoy it,, CLARINETS,thumbs up!!

  • hehehe easy piece to play... unfortunately my high school concert band doesnt sound as good... we dont have as many people as you guys

  • music- the wonderful universal language...

  • yes.You?

  • we played this song at festival and got superior

  • Good one! Tuned nicely, The best performance of centuria i've ever heard... Well done! The slow part for trumpet at bar 112 with pick up note should be out nicely...

  • i love this song! it is so nice!

  • we did this song for our middle school band

  • My band is playing this at Central District festival in NC...and basically yall need a cymbal player in the fast part...

and accents...Don't hear them. everything else was perfect.

  • Who here is from SPSMB??

  • mi n r u geradusrino?

  • i remember playing this when i was in advanced cncert band!!!! everyone LOVED this song,....

  • My highschool is going to play this in Hawaii! Yay Tuba!

  • haha, i remember playing this! it was one of my favorites cuz i could actually get the ryhthms and notes right! =] GO CLARINETS!

  • @ranger2613 TRUMPET CAN KICK YOUR ARSE!!!!!!=]

  • @ranger2613 yay clarinets! :D

  • i see alot of asians XD

  • it is a asian band

    HKSB

    Hong Kong Symphonic Band

    HK is in China

    Anc china is in Asia...

  • BEAUTIFUL

    wonderfully done.

  • how i missed the brassband.. hey! check out the part of the clarinet..maybe clar is not that popular but i'm proud i can play it well. sax is easy than clarinet..if u dunno..

  • Overall I think it's really good. Just I don't think the baseline (trombones) is playing loud enough, or accenting enough.

  • dude i love this song my band does it this year

  • I love the flute part for this song! We're playing it in Wind Ensemble!

  • their Timpani Player rocks!!

and she seems pretty too ;]

  • i like the flute part =]

  • my only critic is that they at some places didn't "vertically line up" [as my band director puts it]...meaning...they got a little off in the rhythms

  • dcij47...I don't think that the upper woodwinds were very out of tune...they really wern't out of yune at all...

  • wind band

  • No cymbals?

  • next year my sch use this piece to SYF

  • i played that when im 10 years old.

its abit hard, but we played well, my mom is really proud of me!!

  • Gosh...tis is piece we playd was all way back in sec sch!9yrs back!!age of 13!

  • Owh god, i didn't play this song for more than 2 years. i love the intro man.

  • What i like about this band is that everyone has the same tempo, while in other bands, certain sections *cough* percussion, are demanding a different tempo

  • haha 8th grade level tune:P

  • upper winds very out of tune...

rhythms and melody consistently not syncronised.

    hmm....

  • we playin this

  • muito foda centuria

  • Also, I don't know if the music is off but the director is going too fast or the band is missing all of his downbeats.

  • Why is James Swearingen's songs' pattern are almost the same ? (Like Celebration and Dance or Novena Overture For Band)

  • That must be his style

  • Well, hes kinda the same person so it kinda makes sense.

Its like your handwriting, it doesnt change much even if it does.

btw this band did a pretty good job.

    Mine did better.

  • great job!

  • Great piece of music. I conducted this song some 10 years ago in a music camp for youth. Very inspirational.... Thanks for sharing.

  • めっちゃ懐かしい!

    ティンパやったな~昔

  • honkida!

  • lol great job! you guys played it beautifully

  • ooh. very nice. my band played this song this year [freshman] and we got straight ones. i played snare. this song is amazing!

  • We got 2s when we played this back in 1995. We were excited because we usually got 3s.

  • wahhh i playing first horn for this...

  • Is this in HK? That snare drummer girl is beastly lol.

  • this song is great our band played this but i was in a lower band so i couldnt but i can play it just as good as symphonic band.

  • コンクール曲がこの曲です

    トロンボーンなので途中ソロがあります

  • my Jr. High plays this every graduation =D

    Ah the good old days

  • there's this once my school band plays this particular song, and i looooved it so much! i can't believe i can find it here! it's amazing!

  • Our school band played this but we got rated a 3 (=C) but i like it though.

  • Thankfully, my freshman year, we got a 2 playing this (from a band that usually gets 3s).

  • 8th grade year. . .B/2 rating.

i'm trying to conduct this for the end of the year concert. . .

which is 2 days from now. . .i found out 2 days ago. . .

    never conducted before. xD *dead*

  • I'm sure you will do fine! Come back and let me know how you do! Good luck!

  • haha conduct lol just memorize what is this dude doing here hahahahaha

  • damn that was a long time ago. . .

i didn't bother looking at youtube comments. D:

anyway. . .i copied mostly what he did and it worked out fine. . .

i want a chance to conduct again though.

i kept flipping my fucking bangs and i could have been a little more enthusiastic with my conducting. =/

    oh well. . .

  • we played this in band.. and i LOVE swearingen. we also played Exaltation which was great =]

  • I've played them both... Exaltation and Centuria... I can't believe I actually found it on youtube! I was practicing my oboe and I looked far an accompianment to play with. =P

  • We are playing this in my band.

I can't get it right even on 3rd trumpet and 1st is WAY to high.

  • dude i know EXACTLY where your comming from; as in i'm in the exact same place as you. Just keep bookin' though, i'm sure we'll get it eventually lol.

  • I play this in my band xD

  • The melody sounds like it should be played at Tomorrowland at Disneyland.

  • i love the timpani girl.. sexyyy lol. One of the best centuria song ive heard being played by a school band.

  • I don't think that it is a school band

look at the tubas and baritones, they look a little older, so do some of the trumpets

  • this is really good. i'm learning to play this on the flute right now, but it sounds so much more plain without the band.

  • i agree im trying to play it on the saxaphone it sounds so dumb because its just harmony.

  • yeah, i have, like, 1,000,000 measures of rest!!!!

  • This is by far the best performance of Centuria on YouTube. That being said, there is one issue. You guys play the song WAY too fast. Keep up the good work!

  • oh my.

  • Oh.....................my.

  • For 8th grade promotion, we played this song at that speed, too. In my opinion, it sounds better that way :P. But that's just my opinion.

    Still, great video!!

  • actually, we play the very beginning at normal tempo. Forgot to mention that
