  • good work!

  • Okay I made a mistake! :-) distance=velocity * time well if we have time and velocity we CAN solve and get distance.

Here is my mistake: You can not measure sound because the soundwaves are traveling around and getting deflected, there is too much noise in air and echoes. Like in a soccer game, the arena you hear a vuvuzela but you can't record anything because too many noise around. So we need to make a machine that can detect the exact sound we want omitting the one we don't want.

  • @RockeraLoca That is why I like YouTube we can share ideas and learn from each other!

    Keep it up guys!

  • Knowing the speed of sound only tells you what kind of medium soundwaves propagate:air, water, wood but not where the sound is coming from. That's all. A microphone would only pick up the sound and converte into electrical energy so that it can go into a computer or such, but we still need a sensor to analyze the soundwave maybe using deflection similar to RADAR for electromagneticwaves, and tell you exactly where it is. For that we need to experiment in nonecho room like this to focus on 1 sound.

  • wtf isnt the same result achieved by placing 2 or more microphones next to eachother comparing the exact time the sound reaches each microphone, thus calculating the source? maybe not distance, but direction?

  • @LilleGrisen No. The whole point of this room is so that is extremely quiet almost near to no sound, so that 'sensible' sensors can be made that can help to locate sound and different frequencies can be examined, similar to "SONAR" but in air not water and very sensible to soundwaves. Putting two microphones next to each other doesn't help in anything.

  • @RockeraLoca What am i missing? placing 2 or more microphones next to eachother will tell the direction of the soundsource by comparing each microphones recorded soundwaves - all you need to know is the speed of sound.

  • @RockeraLoca Can you send me Private message I am very limited to how much I can write in here. Has word limits. Thanks! :-)

  • IRCAM did it a will ago

  • That's pretty damn cool! I wonder how a CD would sound if a band recorded in it? Keep up the great work guys!

  • @Chrvl88 it would sound pretty damn dry and weird lol
