I don't care what it looks like,, I'd much rather have a diverse, multi functional aircraft (boat, car, cycle) than some pretty prissy looking cessna that has too many limitations as to where it can and can't land/takeoff. naaahh this isnt extreme short landing. this plane can do better and this runway isnt so hard the hill gives you great braking ability. i fly into a runway similar but at 5000 msl and its only about 800 ft and the hill makes it work both for takeoff and landing but if you dont decide soon enough for a go around youre dead. dont get me wrong these runways are for pros.

This plane is operated by A.M.A (Associated Mission Aviation, ama-papua (dot) com).

Their 5 PC-6's and 3 Cessna 185's, along with the planes that MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship) operates, supply about 90% of the air travel in Papua.

The types of trips AMA & MAF fly are mission and air taxi. Both organizations are mission orientated, non-profit, and non government.

To me the plane is gorgeous. This plane was created for one thing and one thing only, get in and out of small strips with the most amount of payload possible. The nose is long because the turboprop engine is small (relatively) and needs to be up front to balance the plane especially since its a tail dragger. This plane is the hummer of the skies...

Yes, you need to have your skills in order, but this aircraft also helps A LOT! It has unbelievable lift and power - very easy to set down in very small and tight spaces - it's almost like a helicopter. You would really have to mess up big to get into trouble with this beast!
