Re: mention that McLaughlin is NOT in this. Saxist Dick Heckstall-Smith replaced McLaughlin in the band, which further confirms walterkolosky1's comment. And I believe this is available on DVD.
avs002 - Always have been impressed with your JM contributions - but, finally after meaning many times to, I remembered to ask John M. about this video. He says that "100%" he is not in it..
Great to see that video and to hear such a great tune. I'm just in the middle of putting a Duffy Power and Graham Bond tune (Farewell Baby) on here if anyone is interested.

Wow, that's an unusual version of Spanish Blues! Some different chord choices in there - interesting. Thanks for posting this! Brings back some great memories of covering many GBO numbers in my band years ago.
RIP Graham - and RIP Dick H-S, a personal friend as well as a fantastic guy and brilliant musician. I'm so lucky to have known him, and so unlucky to be too young ever to have seen the band play live (I was born in '65, appropriately enough).
There's not a lot of Graham Bond out there featuring McLaughlin. I don't think there's anything recorded except for the Duffy Power stuff. Anybody know of anything else?
@rondolce There is a Bond double LP set that features (off the top of my head) 3 or 4 tunes live from Klook's Kleek (1963) with McLaughlin, Baker and Bruce. Bond plays sax on it instead of KBs. It is as interesting as it is good.
Thanks for posting this- That's a lot of talent in that video...I even notice a young Dick Heckstall-Smith as well. Would have been great to be in London during the emerging blues scene in those years.

@proferic This passage is from The incredible marquis by Herbert Gorman entitled the soldier of fortune(chapter six) It was natural that Dumas believed implicitly in the magic of somnambulism, in animal magnetism and in chiromancy. No Haitian dancing before his Voodoo altar was more superstitious than Dumas. Home, to Dumas, therefore, was an authentically inspired adept in communicating with unseen world.
@proferic Between 1555 and 1931 the Jesuit Order was expelled from at least 83 countries, city states and cities, for engaging in political intrigue and subversion plots against the welfare of the state, according to the records of a Jesuit priest of repute(Thomas J. Campbell).-J.E.C. Shepard
@proferic "The public is practically unaware of the over wheming responsibility carried by the Vatican and its Jesuits in the starting of the two world wars-m a situation which may be explained in part by the gigantic finances at the disposition of vatican and its jesuits."---Edmond paris, The secret history of the Jesuits

Thanks for your response - much appreciated! Just to be informative (pedantic)...
After just checking these out, Klooks Kleek has Heckstall-Smith, but not McLaughlin. And there are 3 tracks with John on the 1971 Solid Bond release. Took about a half-hour to find them both.
But it's fun digging these things out. I'm currently toying with putting up some Danny Thompson Trio (BBC broadcast) and/or 2008 Juan Les Pins festival material (a great concert).
TV at it's best ! funny show ! GBO is absolutely smashing ! Cheerio old chaps !

This has the wrong soundtrack of course, the original film had The Graham Bond ORGANisation playing "Harmonica" and it is a shame we can't see that.

It looks like John McLaughlin, without his guitar, beside Jack Bruce, whom is going crazy on the harmonica.

You didn't mention Dick Heckstall-Smith on sax... and try as I might, I could not spot McLaughlin in any of the scenes...

@horowizard : I have probably seen '200 Motels' more than is good for you.

it's so horrible. Recording quality has come a long way since 1963. That's for damn sure....

Such a carefree era compared to now.

The soundtrack might be 1963, but the footage is undoubtedly later (1966 or so)

I want a close-up of the ever photogenic Mr. Baker.
Sounds good. One step away from Art Blakey's hard-bop period.
