I saw coney Hatch open for judas priest in Long Beach around 1980. I never forgot them.Fuckin powerful timeless music. How did these guys not become legends.
What a band! All four of these guys could really rock! I caught them playing a little club in Cobourg back in '83. Talk about loud! Carl and Steve were playing through two Marshall stacks each. TWO STACKS EACH! My ears are still ringing!
@jackiethehutt Seen them same year...Peterborough ( Jokers ) ...said it then..say it now...Best Bar Band..I have ever seen...Should of been Rock Stars !
Coney Hatch should have been a helluva lot bigger than what they were. They were just too damned good all the way around. I wore out several recordings of their stuff on the car stereo! Thank God for Maxell!
Back in the day, Shelski's solo on this one made me want to break my guitar... Agressive (yet very clean) picking hand, killer left hand vibrato, and a very melodic use of both classical modes/motifs and "left field" jazz chromatic lines. The fact that the album was produced by another rather formidable Canadian axe-slinger (Kim Mitchell) obviously helped get Steve's "message" right up in yer face...
good band, i met the singer carl, around 97, around there, he had a band called joe cool, they did lots of covers, super tight band, saw them in a bar in thunder bay, they were so tight they didn't sound right playing alot of the music which was popular then, like stp, nirvana, but what a super band, not a good crowd, sad to say, but i introduced myself to carl, he was so cool, just a great normal person, one hell of a singer and rythm guitar player,
The old Younge street the way I remember it from the early eighties. In the days of "The Gasworks", which had hard rock or metal bands playing seven nights a week. How times have changed.
All these great Canadian bands-April Wine/Coney Hatch/Loverboy/Honeymoon Suite/Triumph, etc, whats in the water up there??
Devilsdeck3-you're right Steve Shelski smoked, saw them live in Syracuse in the early/mid 80's, we wanted to BE that band, and I brought in the album with 4 of them on the back to my hairdresser, told her to make my hair like Carl Dixon's, lol.
Great tune, from a great underrated band!!! I wish I would've discovered these guys back in the day...would have way more of their material in my collection. Thanks a bunch for putting on this video man!!!
Top Tune had this on tape (yeh dya remember tape) first 2 albums back to back fantastic then got chewed up in sum car stereo ........ gonna order from amazon now!!
Saw them many times back in the day. Bar circuits and arenas. Wicked live band.

I always thought that Steve Shelski had one of the cleanest/ clearest guitar sounds going
