biofuel from food? butenol? hydrocarbons shouldnt be burned (fossil fuels my ass)what happened to coskata and geothermal energy promises. i am so sick of big money phoquing up our 'progress'. THE INDUSTRY IS SKITZOOPHRENIC!! you need to make up your minds, after 40 years plus of flinging bullshot,we could have used the tonnage to burn by now.
i know i'm stemming away from the alternative fuel tlk but..if u look..the video of the A380 in flight and other clips have the shell engine on the left wing and on other clips it is on the right wing.
The problem is a lack of cheap oil, it is becoming vastly more expensive to find and develop fields, in the deep oceans, as oilshale or tarsands etc. Gas isn't expected to reach peak production until decades after oil. Natural gas, methane, CH4, can be reformulated into various liquid fuels using various processes including Fischer-Tropsch. It is not liquifying the gas, that is LNG. The basic methane molecule is taken apart and put back together as C12H26 or higher chains that make up jet fuel.
I sure hope they use this GTL ( Gas To Liquid) fuel not bio fuel as one said this is when you compress the gas into a liquid (well to my understanding at least) and produces less emissions. For Airbus sake they better use it since this plane holds key to the company's future due to high cost of fuel these days and if they don't use it expect sales of this plane to fall which would be a shame to all those who put all their hard work on this plane because Airbus surpass Boeing in my opinion now.
This GTL fuel technology is currently being used in normal cars, and there are a lot of gas stations here in Europa to refuel this kind of cars: UK, Italy, Portugal are some examples where the introduction of GTL is been SUCCESFUL.
Actualy GTL is 30% cheaper in the Gas Stations I had the opportunity to check its availability.
Yes, but the more important is that it's an alternative to oil, and even the oil companies themselves start to recognize that oil production is reaching a peak.
Enshallah after 1 year I will be Aircraft fuel opretor in saudi aramco ^_^
It's my dream to refuel this plane hahaahhaahhahaahhah

It don't have to be Natural from crude. It can be near anything. This tech is 70-80 yrs old. Look up "Fischer-Tropsch"

natural gas is a byproduct of crude oil

what are the advantages of this fuel

Cleaner, safer and more environmental friendly because it does not contain sulphur.

So, this mean Airbus A380 could fly with Bio-fuel in future!

Extremely interesting. Thanks very much for showing this.
