TR1 ftw. I'm only half done with Anniversary and I'm so disappointed I might not even finish it. All the levels are cut in half.. and the T-Rex fight is AWFUL. =/

@LinnieCorpsicle Yes, the T rex fight is so awful because it doesn't involve running in a few circles and firing a paltry amount of bullets to do the job. It actually requires positioning and timing.

Give Anniv. enough to try the new St Francis Folly. Top notch stuff.

I tell you this, the first time you walked into that valley in 1996 & the frantic music starts playing, then out of nowhere some big t-rex is bounding towards you.....its an epic moment in video gaming history.

Limited graphics + amazing atmospheric music makes your brain fill in the technical gaps which is what makes it so damn good.

In modern games, your given everything on a plate. Everything is realistic, draw distance is miles ahead. Atmospheric music seems to take a back seat :-(

I think it was much more effective not having a cut scene, you're a bit more like 'WOAH!! RUNN!!'

TR1 has more of an open feel. You're forced to battle it in TRA, which sucks.

Original game hands down.

its was 1998 we'd just bought a pc with win98 n dad bought tomb raider gold he played i watched i was 8 or 9 he got stuck on lost valley couldnt find where to get the cogs so one day when he went work i thought id give it a go n i found the slightly hidden bit to the raptor then holy shit a t-rex outa nowhere hell of a surprise for an 8 yr old when all you had seen so far was ur dad killin bats n at worse a bear, killed it 1st go n got upto the thor room in lvl5 n he got home ah i bragged to him

TRA might have better graphics and the fight is harder, but the sudden appearance of T-rex and the music of TR1 surely beats it in my book.

@adekaiwamisou the T-rex from the 3rd secret on the Great Wall in TR2 is the one that made me jump out of my skin. I understand this one is a favourite because it had the idea first, but the TR2 one is especially sudden!

I was disappointed they made the T-Rex a boss in TRA. I like the T-Rex better in TR1, he was free to roam around the valley. I like that you didn't have to kill him, you can keep the T-Rex alive and have him chase you around the valley which made it more fun. plus the TR1 Lost Valley was much darker and closed off which i liked as compared to TRA which was bright and wide open.

If you watch developer's documentary, they didn't have means to render sky in TR1 due to short draw distance and because they decided with black fog of "war" - that's why all outdoors look darker and look much like a cave.

tr1 t-rex fight- the t-rex still scarys me but it is a really good fight against lara and the t-rex

tra t-rex fight- it is fun with all of the interactive cutscenes but also you don't fight in the whole of the lost valley like in the first one

I liked both versions of this apart from the restriction in TRA, you can't move around the whole area, it blocks you in! And a liked that freedom to move around that you have in TR1 during the battle :) still the graphics have definitely improved! No doubt! :P

Exactly. TR: Underworld is a glitched mess... Legend was probably better although I can't say for sure since I have not completed that yet..

As for Crash, that ended when Crash Team Racing was released... Now, it all sucks. Crash Bash was alright ish.. But not a classic!

On the commentary for the lost Valley they mentioned that in TR1 many of the test players thought it took place in a cave - simply because you couldn't see the sky.

Personally I prefer TRA - I grew up with high spec graphics :)

I remember the first time I fought this one in TRA and I hadn't figured how to seadshot yet... And I only had the dual pistols, took like 25 min to kill the bastard! i felt the dinosaur killing in TR1 are a lil too easy. the t-rex dies too easily. in TRA its more hardcore & realistic. the t-rex is kinda bigger than the actual size of a t-rex. plus the music in TRA made it a thriller! nevertheless, Lost Valley is my most favourite level in the game

its a rage meter. u shoot it till that bar is completly full, n then the enemy like flips out n charges at you, u do an adrenaline dodge n shoot it in the head, which kills then straight away, unless its a boss

same here, i had a phobia of dinosours from this for 11 years until i heard anniversary was coming out, i played all the tombraider games with dinos in.

it was horrible. tr3 was the worst on the crfash site levels.

this still scared the shit out of me, but phobia cured.

p.s. why is laras back to uber dino when the scene opens, but in the cutscene she is looking at it with ther guns (i mean her eyes, not guns)

tomb raider anniversary's 'the trex' would be much better. It takes much longer than it did than the first one which means more fun ^^ althoughhhh.. for some reason when i play the trex in tomb raider 1 the moment seems more scary somehow... thanks for uploading.
