In theory, sure, one side of the Earth would remain untouched; but the Earth would have an Atmosphere like Mars, if not thinner. I'd imagine an enormous wall of fire traveling that fast would eventually reach the rest of the planet before dissipating. Surely a solar flare like this would last 12 hours, and even less time would be required for it to hit everything. Not to mention the catastrophic effects this would have on the environment, the total erosion of the Ozone, and half of the world being destroyed putting an end to the global economy. To say that "one side of the earth would survive" is...cute, but stupid.
