The software is only for windows 98 users. Anything over that OS and its plug and play. Charges off the charger or on the usb port of the pc as well. I use mine to record flights with my rc plane. Its taken a beating to put it lightly. Its also stayed in my plane in a tree overnight while being rained on. Got a huh on my lens now, but still looks cool. As for recording, turn it on ones holding it till orange, wait 10 sec, hit button again, wait just 10 secs and it turns blue, when done do again.

Meaning you dont click click hold hold, you just click and hold till on, wait 10 seconds. Then click one time only and wait ten seconds and it will turn blue and start recording. When done, press button again and let go, and after about 10 seconds again it goes off back to orange. HOLD button in till off, no light on at all. Took me a bit to figure this out 4 the instructions are a joke, but the video is not to bad. 15 fps, & it doesnt like low light. I did a flight at dusk and got green hue..
