  • fuck i hate chevy asnd i own 1 its a bag of shit used as my winter driver . chevy = money pit

  • Hey man, very nice truck. I have a 95 ext. k2500ld which is basically stock except for glasspack, spectra stock replacement air-filter, and 4in trailmaster lift with 33''. My question is how long and/or hard was it to rebuilt the 350tbi. I would love to have the power you have, specially when I put 35s on my truck.

  • what size are the tires 285 75 r 16 or 305 75 r16?

  • Alright thanks haha the L05 is the same cylinder block as the LT1.

  • @Smokie420ish Identical?

  • @LonewolfG36C Yeah they are pretty much the same. The LT1 may have higher compression piston rings because the use the reverse cooling system.

  • @Smokie420ish I don't know man, where are you getting this info?

  • @Smokie420ish I honestly can't remember? You do know I am just talking about the block right. Not the heads and intake bs. The L05 was used from 85 till 95 or 96 until in 93 the LT1 pretty much replace tbi's because tbi's lack the fuel disbursement to each cylinder. (Equal amounts) That is why they made port injection

  • @Smokie420ish Yeah I know. You're right, the blocks are more or less the same. But I have to disagree with the TBI replacement. TPI was around before the LT1. And the TBI in the trucks got the Vortec V8 which is a gen 1 SBC similar to the LT1 but it definitely wasn't the same.

  • @LonewolfG36C What dp you mean the TPI was around b4 LT1. I know that buddy. The Tune Port injection was are fairly close to the LT1 SFI. I am not a whole lot familiar with tpi but I think the tpi's were ran off the pcm and had a fuel injector in each cylinder. The SFI was pretty much brought up the same, but the sent pulses threw the injectors. ( I am not a 100% sure why they did this, but I believe it was due to better fuel management).

  • @Smokie420ish The other things they might share are the crank and pistons I believe.

  • @Smokie420ish Alright dude alright. The SBC gen 1 and LT1 gen 2, are similar and some parts are interchangeable, you're right. Never doubted the interchangeability. Just doubted the identicality.

  • @LonewolfG36C Haha! Yeah it's a Chevy. I love how lots of parts are interchangeable.

  • @Smokie420ish It's the best!

  • I am located around the STL area. and thanks. Do you know anywhere that I can buy a lower rise cai for the TBI so I will have cowl clearance.

  • I like somethings about the 3rd gen F-bodies. One cool thing about the L05 350 you have they are the same cylinder block as the LT1

  • @Smokie420ish Same block? Eh idk on that one. My block is a casting from '79. I have a 2 piece rear main seal.

Low rise CAI...uh I'm not sure dude, I think that if you find something that'll work for a 3rd gen it'll work for you.

  • You know I really don't know about the auto parts recycler. I hope lol. I need a wiring harness and a ecm for my 350

  • Lol I wanna make this car a good reliable dd not a race car altough it would be nice but this is gonnabe way too costly. If I would do anything radical I would bore it out to a 383 stroker and carb it with an edlebrock carb, throw something like a T-rex cam in.

  • @Smokie420ish Yeah my camaro's going to be a full on track car I would avoid stroking and carbs in a DD

painless i think makes a harness, also you can find them on ebay haha...gl dude, let me know how it goes.

Also, where you located? My friend is looking for a 3.4 V6 for his fiero if you're selling.

  • I gotta find a 4L60-E 2wd bc my V6 has a 60 degree bell housing and it is not removable like the V8's is.

  • @Smokie420ish Yeah I've heard of them being diff...at one point i was going to get an early 4th gen and put my 5.3 in that, but had a greater affinity for the 3rd gens.

do you have a local auto recycler? I got alot of what i needed to do my 305->350 swap there.

  • For now it is my DD but i am gonnabe buying another car hopefully a saturn sc-2 just for the fuel efficency. Gas is way too expensive. $4 a gallon here D:. I am just gonna throw in the 350 tbi and when I am done with my automotive training I am gonna take her out and take her to a shop and vat and magnaflux it, rebuild the buttom end stock, put vortec heads on it edlebrock intake and a LT1 cam the extra 20 hp and tq also it has a higher lift for higher rmps :)

  • @Smokie420ish Gotcha, I might be buying myself a cavalier to put put around in...since this truck is on premium too...XP

Yeah you could build the 350 up real good with or without TBI...i personally once you've got the saturn would go balls to the wall with the Firebird and ditch the TBI unit...I've got a 5.3 LSX i'm throwing in a 3rd gen camaro :) but I'm going carb since it's cheaper.

  • Sounds pretty good. My dad has a 93 C1500 Z71. I also have a 350 TBI that I am gonna put in my 95 Firebird. I like the TBIs they are pretty easy to work on. The only problem that we have noticed with them is the ignition system.(distributor, igintion wires, spark plugs).

  • @Smokie420ish Thanks man. I checked out said firebird, looks good...people bash TBI but it's so simple and I got 22 mpg with my 305 so it's great for a daily. Yeah, the spark unit in my dizzy went out, had to replace that.

What do you plan on doing with the Firebird? Is it your daily driver?
