Thomas is incredibly talented and I love his riff style. I've always had a very similar style and I usually tend to just make crazy complex riffs, but I wouldn't call him a guitar god. I'd call him more of a artistic genious in the sense of what he is doing and a great riff composer. The thing that puts him on the next level is the fact that he can sing and play the things he plays at the same time. Either way, love his work and can't wait to see what he does next.

If you think Stef of Deftones is a horrible guitarist, than I guess you don't know what music is all about. Just because he is not some gay shredder, doesn't make him a bad guitarist. He's developed his own sound and this is incredibly hard to achieve, especially without the use of many effects, he's not even using a wah-pedal. Still, he's brilliant in terms of structure, riffs and harmony and has a very distinguished sound. Thomas is far far behind Stef in terms of what I just said.

Yeah that is a dumb thing to say really. Everyone just about is connected to there music. But I prefer the Deftones because of the melanchalic soft drfity tone to spastic shrills and scathing screams poor out so much emotion. Either hard or soft Deftones have the most vulnerable feel but aswell as a awesome level of power in the music. The crptic lyrics add to their level of that mysty ghostly feel they have.
yea i like the 'tones way better but TFOT isnt a bad band at all though....they're cool, i just like the Deftones more and since i have been listening to them for more than 10 years(since i was about 12) it'd be hard for me to like TFOT more though
I like TFOT aswell. For young guys they show good experimentation, and the ever changing melodies they pump out are energetic and great. But Deftones just offer more mature emotion and the high pitched screaming sends shivers. Chino fucks up a lot live but when they sound good live they really give off a powerful feel. And they matured with time since 1988. TFOT are great but the rocords aren't as well formulated or unique.
TFOT relies heavily on polyrythmic guitar work. Deftones are far more invloved in layered atmospheriec music where everything plays a evident role. Minimalism is also present in there music. It's more merticulous as a whole. Troy has the sickest riffs though. The melodies TFOT dish out grab you within seconds. They are much more fun oriented then Deftones uless you consider the earlier Tones stuff. I still like Doppleganger the best out of there stuff but the new album is a best 2nd for me.

Hes not even using a wah pedal? what the fuck does that even mean in this context? When they do this song without Thomas he plays the absolute bare minimum of the song, it seems eh. All I've read about Stef is that he smokes alot of weed. Thomas isn't brilliant in terms of riffs, harmony, and doesn't have a distinguished sound? I love Deftones.. I just love the fall of troy so much more. Stef just has a great rig and an incredibly low tuning to get his oh so unique sound..

Actually you are wrong my friend. Thomas Erak uses harmony with his chords and riffs. Yes structure too. They are both good. but erak is better. NO doubt. Yes in terms of making music too. Erak writes fucking bomb ass music all his own. He shreds a groovy fuckin riff and sings at the same time. Usually theres only chords going on while singing. so...fyi

Yeah i got into them BECAUSE OF THE FALL OF TROY. Erak and the other band members are influenced mainly by at the drive in. This is why the fall of troy are so good. his lyrics can be just as great as chino's too. Im sure everyone of the fall of troy would definitely agree with me on that one. theyre probably sexier than chino's.

the fall of troy is way better than this band by far. and dont get mad at me for saying that. its lame how people get all worked up because of things like that. and also dont try to sound sophisticated by putting things like " oh the deftones are better than fall of troy because they connect to there music" because by the way every good band connects to there music.

Yeah that is a dumb thing to say really. Everyone just about is connected to there music. But I prefer the Deftones because of the melanchalic soft drfity tone to spastic shrills and scathing screams poor out so much emotion. Either hard or soft Deftones have the most vulnerable feel but aswell as a awesome level of power in the music. The crptic lyrics add to their level of that mysty ghostly feel they have.

yea i like the 'tones way better but TFOT isnt a bad band at all though....they're cool, i just like the Deftones more and since i have been listening to them for more than 10 years(since i was about 12) it'd be hard for me to like TFOT more though

I like TFOT aswell. For young guys they show good experimentation, and the ever changing melodies they pump out are energetic and great. But Deftones just offer more mature emotion and the high pitched screaming sends shivers. Chino fucks up a lot live but when they sound good live they really give off a powerful feel. And they matured with time since 1988. TFOT are great but the rocords aren't as well formulated or unique.

TFOT relies heavily on polyrythmic guitar work. Deftones are far more invloved in layered atmospheriec music where everything plays a evident role. Minimalism is also present in there music. It's more merticulous as a whole. Troy has the sickest riffs though. The melodies TFOT dish out grab you within seconds. They are much more fun oriented then Deftones uless you consider the earlier Tones stuff. I still like Doppleganger the best out of there stuff but the new album is a best 2nd for me.

what a bunch of asslickers. the guitarist (and no i am not doubting his prowess) isnt doing anything unusual or extraordinary for all of you to fellate him the way you are. i love deftones but this version of one of my favorite weezer songs blows bloody chunks, and the guitarist does nothing to save it regardless of what a bunch of fanboys think.

uhm, dude, i dont actually consider him a god, but he really is pretty good at both playing guitar and singing. Obviously you can't tell in this video, 'cause the guitar is really slow, but check The Fall of Troy (Its his band).

TFOT has nothing to do with the whole false term of emo today. Try listening to them before you judge. The Fall Of Tory is a pretty good band. And will only get better with time.
