Someone answer this...Why cant they play it? So long as they actually bought the CD or song....I someone has a house party, do they need to get permission from the band to play their music? If not, whats the difference...100 people or 5000 hearing music I bought and paid for...its not like they're selling the music. Anyone?
There is a difference in the way the RNC used the song.
A presidential political convention is a national production, and for the USA, the worlds superpower, an international production.
The RNC didn't merely just "play" the song, they used it as a theme, tying it directly to Sarah Palin.
No they are not selling the music, but in using Barracuda as an integral part of a stage production, they ARE selling Sarah Palin.
If I were Ann and Nancy Wilson, I too would demand a stop to it.
