She screamed at me when I told her I didn't believe in anything in particular, she cried when I told her I thought gays had the right to be gay, and began praying out loud when I told her that I had put a lot of thought into my beliefs (not religion, beliefs) and came to my conclusion.

We read a book called Unchristian, I suggest you read it, don't let the title scare you, its all about how people perceive Christianity and how we are trying to change that perception. I personally am working on letting people know that we are here not to judge but to show God's love and tell his word, I am also a Christ Follower.

Actually' we see that Jesus words throughout the scriptures extend forgiveness to all people despite the type of sin that beset them. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son' that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life.
Talk with God and then listen. You'll be amazed.

I'm not sure I would want god to listen to me even if he was there and could. There are so many innocent people dying out there. I hardly have use for god.
