I am an overweight woman who has joined a bellydance troupe. I love it. These ladies are great! They inspire women like me who have tried to lose weight and lose interest in exercising because of how people look at them in the gym and comments made. The troupe I belong to are a wonderful bunch of women. Bellydancing has brought to my life a whole new outlook. I feel sexy. I am losing inches along with lbs. It is an inspiration to watch women who are not sticks bellydance. Learn the history of it
What gets me about all these videos which ridicule fat women is that most show them exercising, which is healthful. Jackasses who continue to film them with their cellphones and post the results with hateful comments will simply discourage fat people from taking any kind of exercise at all in public. So much for all the self-righteous "it's for their own good" comments.

The very cute Kira Lang has studied this art for years. She knows over 42 genres of it and has tons of Middle Eastern and African friends who appreciate her dedication. The other young lady with her has been a student of hers for several years and I've watched them perform in many shows with outstanding applause at the end. It would be nice if you could learn to appreciate the art and not worry so much about your western culture calling them fat...that's ignorant and silly!

Hey, that's me! Thanks for the positive feedback! I just found out about the video. The very sad fact is this person (using the term loosely) was at a recital for the community center classes & is probably the mother of a child in a program there. I like to be a positive role model for staying active whatever your size, age or disability (arthritis is mine). More exposure = acceptance. You did notice how the cute little girl in pink who wasn't concerned about our size, she was dancing with us!
As a belly dancer myself, I want to say that these women are not only beautiful, but are dancing very well. I've seen many smaller women who can't dance as well as these women. I say shake what you've got!
I love these women. I love to watch them dance and I know one of them and she is the kindest nicest person you will ever meet. Quite judging people by how they look. People come in all sizes and shapes and colors if you haven't noticed. There's no reason for someone to be so mean to be so judgmental of someone else.

Oh, my, Muchimama... you need some more hobbies. Here are two beautiful women, performing an art which is traditionally done by ladies of larger stature. Their movements are lovely and graceful. You want to know what's hideous and "gisgusting" about this video? Your comments on it. You've really shown your true colors here. Perhaps you should look at your own values before judging others. At least the children in the front row know and appreciate talent and beauty when they see it.

The very cute Kira Lang has studied this art for years. She knows over 42 genres of it and has tons of Middle Eastern and African friends who appreciate her dedication. The other young lady with her has been a student of hers for several years and I've watched them perform in many shows with outstanding applause at the end. It would be nice if you could learn to appreciate the art and not worry so much about your western culture calling them fat...that's ignorant and silly!

hey muchimama!!! if you go to the Middle East you will find people of all sizes doing this dance. It originated with healthy women, non-bone rat sized people. Hey, that's me! Thanks for the positive feedback! I just found out about the video. The very sad fact is this person (using the term loosely) was at a recital for the community center classes & is probably the mother of a child in a program there. I like to be a positive role model for staying active whatever your size, age or disability (arthritis is mine). More exposure = acceptance. You did notice how the cute little girl in pink who wasn't concerned about our size, she was dancing with us!

As a belly dancer myself, I want to say that these women are not only beautiful, but are dancing very well. I've seen many smaller women who can't dance as well as these women. I say shake what you've got!

I love these women. I love to watch them dance and I know one of them and she is the kindest nicest person you will ever meet. Quite judging people by how they look. People come in all sizes and shapes and colors if you haven't noticed. There's no reason for someone to be so mean to be so judgmental of someone else.

what's with all the negative comments?.if this video was showing them sitting on their asses, They'd get negative reactions. But they're dancing. They're active. Give them that much credit. I know it may look easy, but these ladies are getting a great workout. You can be overweight and healthier then a person who sits on their lazy ass and eats shit all day. I'd rather be a fat ass then a lazy ass. It take a lot to get up and dance like that. What's so disgusting? Their outfits are in very good taste. I'm a plus size belly dancer just like them. Most people admire my dancing above my thinner counterparts. They are beautiful and graceful. Belly dancing isn't just for thin people. Someone has a little hater-ism.
