  • @Venu337 I agree. Alicia Myers is real, and not fake like the three you just mentioned. This music was real too. It really is sad what music has become today. We miss this music, which is our music! Great jam!

  • I'M JAMMIN!!!!!!

  • I JUST WANTED TO SAY HELLO MS. ALICIA MYERS. YOU ARE THE BEST FEMELE VOCALIST IN MY BOOK. BUT YOU AND MY FATHER KEVIN MCCORD WERE A GREAT TEAM. EVEN THEM NEW SONG'S YOU ALL RECORDED SOUNDS MAGICAL. LOVE ALWAY'S JACQUAY

but when i saw this video it made tears form in my eyes...the memories... thanks

    Rooo

  • Alicia is one of the sweetest people in the world. She came here to N.Y. about 2 months ago & did her thing. She's still in the Detroit area & about a year ago she performed at Bert's Warehouse. Alicia would be more than happy to perform in Detroit & hopefully, someone will make in happen in Detroit. She really deserves to be on more stages.

  • I CANT FIND no FEMALE singer today dat can match her.......NOT EVEN ROBIN THICKE.........LOL!!!

  • REAL MUSIC

  • This was back in the day when how you looked and how much you weigh didnt matter what mattered was the music...i LOVE this song Alicia can sing her ass off i still get excited hearing this song cause of all the good memories connected to it i can never forget when this song first came out cause my whole family was together and it was a closer better time to be family unlike now everyone wants to do there own thing and stay there distance.

  • never knew there was a video to this, Ouch! Brings backs memories, Horizon, JFM, Solar, Ouch, Indeedy!!! 1984 the best year for meeeeee

  • o for real i hope she comes to detroit, she sounds so wonderful, you know when her next performance is?

  • This sister has a voice like I've never heard before.... and I never knew she was that fine.

  • You're my sugar darling baby

    You're my shining star..:-)

I loooove it! And still today I play it very frequently...

  • I love her . I love any song by Alicia and I am pleased to say that we share the same first name...

  • I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR THIS LIVE...

  • @MrBLAKICCE

you know she still performs...in fact she is going to be in new york this weekend. She is my friend's aunt.

  • @neecykisses wow you are lucky i love her she is so beautiful I have her songs me and her have the same first name I would love to have her autograph.

  • @neecykisses She's great..please tell her we still love her music.

  • Got that "Two Tons of Fun"/"Weather Girls"/"Sylvester" sound. Great song, beautiful FULL mature voice she has.

  • Hard to beat the soulfulness of this era. The videos were simplistic, but it didn't take flashy videos to sell music way back when. I surprised that there was even a video for this song. The long version of this song is in semi-regular rotation in my system.

  • Kind song

  • I love this song. For years I thought this was Anita Baker. duh! LOL

  • Turbo and Ozone!!!

  • This was the jam ... memories awh sweet memores. Empire skating ring, etc. etc.,

    Thanks for the post! Angie

  • Sounds like a Brooklyn head to me.... Good times off of Bedford...!!!

  • I love this woman's music. We have the same first name also.

  • Sounds Like Melisa Morgan So so much & A little of Vesta---i Love it----yesssss I Love Alica Myers Yesssss

  • She came out before both of them, btw.

  • This is a testament of how we respect other soul artists. Who do you think Faith Evans patterned her sound after;non other than Karen Clark-Sheard. Vesta and Melisa do sound like Alicia Myers;all 3 have great voices.

  • This is my jam. Thanks for posting. I didn't even remember a video.

  • this song is good

  • This song is amazing!! The intro is soooo sultry. I ran across this song while searching for something else. I want to sing this on karaoke!

  • The red shoes. Wow. Funny!

  • Sweet!!! I've been looking for this song EVERWHERE!!!

  • This brings back memories of the good ole days when I was litte. Now I feel old!

  • This song kicks butt!Pure singing!I love it!

I used to dance and "sing" in the mirror to this song when I was a youngin!Notice I put sing in quotes, because I sounded a hot mess!

  • you should make a video of you singing it in the mirror like you did as a youngin lol

  • she is pure soulmusic!

  • ... Song touches your soul, what a killer decade for all music, the 1980s. So Good!

  • My mom used to always play this song over and over when I was little!lol

But of course I love this song!!!=)

  • forgot about this classic this is what youtube is about

  • You know it's real when you don't care whether they can dance or not, because

    they can really really sing!

She, like Phyllis Hyman, tall, pretty

    and under-rated! RIP Phyliss :)

  • I heard this on my drive home tonight along the BQE, it made thinkk of boo, Adisa.

    Come on ladies...

Say it, say it, say it, say it,

Say it, say it, say it, saaaayyy.

You get the best of me!

    She does sound like Anita;

    big props to the originals!

  • does anyone know when this song came out?

  • The song came out 1984.

  • thx

  • I've been looking for this song forever.. Thanks!

  • me too!!! i just found out today who sung it. i love youtube!!!

  • When Music was Music and Singers were actually singers...

    Just pure Soul.

The sound that bounced off the walls in the PJ's.... ahhh the memories.

  • OMG! She's so tall but I love her and her songs anyway. Alisha

  • "OMG! She's so tall but I love her and her songs anyway. Alisha"

What a bizarre statement. Is tallness a flaw?

  • Me myself I love tall women!

  • this is the SHIT!!! i didn't know that they had a video!!! and to rich love...alisha meyers stay in southfield michigan...chillin...my friend's girlfriend is her niece

  • Sounds very similar to Anita Baker. Nice groove, thanx for the post.

  • Alicia Myers was a huge singer who it appears did not realize her true potential in the 1980s! This is song is so great sounding even today in 2008! Cheers

  • I heard Dilla sampled this, but I can't hear it just yet...

    Anyone know???

  • awsome=o]

  • I loved this song so much, so where is Alicia Myers now can someone explain to me please thanks for posting this video. Loved the beat to the song. It is also a dance tune too.

  • Alicia is in her hometown Detroit, MI. I saw her in concert last week, and she hasn't missed a beat. If you go to myspace she has a page on there.

  • MsBabe1 She is one of my favorite female musicians of all time. Has Alicia Myers released any more songs on her albums since she left the music business in the late eighties early nineties. So when is she going to release a greatest hits album with all of her hits songs on the album because it will sell big than ever. So when is that going to happen soon.

  • There is a write up about her in the Jet with Prince on the cover.

  • Never knew there was a video for this.

  • ditto

  • If you're looking for this song on itunes,it's under the group, One Way, along with a couple of her other songs. She was the female vocalist for the group.

  • Wasn't there another girl who sang with this group? If you search the song "If you play your cards right" There is one vid where it shows a pic of the band with two girls.

  • Wow.

    Thanks!

  • I miss the way music used to be. Real voice and instruments and no enhancements.

  • True that. I like how nothing in the video is about showing your ass, shooting up a club, or bling this weed that.

  • This is the SHIT!!!! Alicia's voice is phenominal!!! Music and a voice like this doesn't exist any more. Remember when.................

  • oops..."gifted singers" not signers is what I meant to say...

  • It is my opinion that this type of talent will never come back because the overall flavor of our culture has changed. The introduction of gangster rap brought a rawness to mainstream media and in many ways even changed the way "WE" even view relationships. That change has made both actual "singing"(or sangin") and good songwriting to compliment and showcase good vocal ability damn near pointless in r&b. That is not to take anything away from a few of the gifted signers that are out there today.

  • Great Observation!! But I do miss all the love songs of the 80's even the cheating songs were so honest and emotional!

  • Alicia Myers is so under rated. I miss good clean love songs such as this. Awesome vocals- BRING GOOD MUSIC BACK!!!!!!!!!

  • This is the jam! Havent heard this song in a very very long time. Reminds me when we had to clean up the house on sunday mornings.

  • omg!!! i havent heard this song in FOR EVERRRRR!!! where in tha world did u find this?! just wow! I loveeed this song!

  • i love thi ssong this is my best skate song I LOVE IT RAMONA LOVES THIS SONG

  • LOVE IT SAY NO MORE

  • Oh god, I love this song. My only question is why is this video cut [abbreviated]? I want to see the FULL video. Not just 3.5 minutes of a 6 minute song.

centralline14, what's the word? Can you replace this with the COMPLETE video for us?

  • This is the full video (the edited single version was the video).

  • Azone01,

So there was not a longer version of this song? I recall a lengthier version.

  • yes there is a 7.5 minute version and it is hottt!!!! i will email to you if you like

  • manmanisonfire,

is the 7.5 minute version a video OR is it just a picture of Alicia Myers. Because I want a video. Not a picture. Which one is it?

  • Alicia Myers released a 8 minute version of this song only on a 12 inch single (I think its also the album version). She never made the 8 minute version for a video (the video you are seeing is the radio edit which is a bit less than 4 minutes long and thats it).

  • I know this. i have looked all over the net for the 8 minute version and I have been so unsuccessful in finding it.

  • That 8 minute version your looking for is on (The Best of One Way :Al Hudson & Alicia Myers) You can purchase it from ITunes for 99 cents you have to get it, worth every penny. It's a must have. I hope this helps.

  • lefty1570,

Yes it does help but only slightly. It lets me know that I can only hear the entire song. I'll never get to see the entire video. That is actually what I was looking for. One goes hand in hand with the other. But at least now I know and for that I say thank you.

  • Say no more, you tube is my one stop shop for all my oldies but goodies. I never knew there was a video for this. I find something new everyday. Nice song Alicia!

  • Love This Song! Bless Her!

  • I would always hear this song on the Music Choice R&B channel....Now I can put a face with the voice! This is the jam!

  • Audio sunshine!

  • The intro brings tears to my eyes and I love it!

  • I can't stop dancing!

  • just one of the Best Old school jams.

  • what happened to her?

  • Check out her myspace page. She had a bout with breast cancer but she's still around and recorded a new offering....

  • I'm glad she's still singin.

    amazing voice.

  • sharonmadams,

Would you happen to know the address to Alicia Myers MySpace page? If so could you please pass it onto me? Thanks a lot.

  • Google it!

  • Delbizzie,

This is why I asked. I am not good with GOOGLE at all. Everytime someone says to google something and I do it I am never able to find what I am looking for.

  • Man. I miss those days before sisters hated any dude who wan't trying to be a baller.

I could just hang out and get to know a sister back then.

Now everybody either wanna be Puffy or a porno star.

  • I was born in the wrong generation.

  • Azone01,

If I may ask, what generation would you have preferred to have been born in AND what generation were you actually born in. Because when this song came out in 1984 I was in the middle of my college career on a campus 700 miles from home. I remember when Alicia and many other of what is now considered to be OLD SCHOOL artists first came out.

  • I wish I were at least a very late baby boomer or an early Gen X'er (born mid 60's to about 1976). I was born in 1983 and many people I know that are my age (or even a few years younger) don't know this song. It sucks to be a Gen. Y'er (born in 1981-1994).

  • Azone01,

Oh...ok. I got'cha now. Well I am proud to say that I was a part of the Baby Boom. I was born in the mid 60's. So I remember it all. So if there is anything about that era that you have any question about or that I can help you with please do not even hesitate to hit me up and ask. It can be music, culture, way of living, hairstyles, clothing fashion, etc. You can hit me on my YouTube page OR you can hit me on Ameica On Line at the address you see here.

  • I appreciate that very much. I feel like a late boomer/Gen X'er knowing all this stuff because I was brought up on old school R&B from my older sister as well as my parents.

  • i love dis song

  • Still A Party Song To This Day.

  • What I can say say say about this song is that Mrs.Myers out did herself on this one

    !!!!

  • After just finding the Curtis Hairston choon - 'I want your lovin' and now this.....god i miss this good old choons! Priceless....

  • hear hear .. i do too miss tha funking 60s choones .. curtis hairston.. this one..david joseph..gap band.. change ..the list goes onn n onnn

  • WHOOOO!!! Love this song! This shyt is still dope!

  • simply divine voice!

  • how depressing, no one can appreciate a simple and happy love songs anymore, with a decent woman and decent video, she would have to be half naked and talking about sex today to get airplay! otherwise this is such a jam and lovely video

  • 80's-'94..the last bastion of truly "great music"..

  • AGREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-)

  • I was 10 years old in 1984 groovin' to this. What happened to music like this nowadays??? I play this more now than ever!!!!

  • I wanna see her perform this on Soul Train. Mr T was also on that episode!

  • Always loved this song - a real 80s slow groove gem. Sort it out itunes!

Anyway thanks for posting centralline (...now there was a funky group!)
