@cycleguy202 I know it's a year ago since you posted this, but this is how old Anglo Saxon names work. Ham means a collective of houses, normally a farming community. News would have been the name of the man who was the head of the original village, hence; News-ham. As the name aged through the years they had a tendancy to change along with local dialect. Where the name was originally News - ham, it often would have developed into being pronounced after it's latin spelling, i.e. New-sh-am.
