  • Please let us know your new configuration. Original was +NNN-NNN+. The new config is???

  • Hey make more hho watch my video finding the sweet spot.

  • Ford, looks great, just wondering what your new configuration is. And are you using KOH or NAOH? I'm looking for a good supplier. Thanks!

  • Ford, You started this video with +nnn-nnn+ nand then break in video and you mentioned reconfiguration, What was the new config? I currently have a dry cell I made and am going to test this weekend after finish coditioning plates. Please let me and others know what your configuration is second time, Thankd John

  • Hi Ford,

I have watched about a thousand videos and am in the process of TRYING to copy your sealed plate system. I am very impressed with it.

I have ordered my 316ss in .020" thickness, I don't know what yours are, so I am hoping that the size I ordered will work good.

Are you keeping the gasket suppliers name a secret? Do you like the results with what you used? It sure looks good.

Is their any info you could share with me to help mine be a success? I will be running it in a car

  • Hi,

The SS should work great just remember to seal your liquid and gas hole with either vinyl hose or gromettes. The gasket material is EDMS 1/8 in you can find it online through any rubber supplier. I hand cut mine. I love the results and I am in the process of replicating it for anyone who wants one. But that will be down the road a bit. Please let me know if you need any further help.

  • Please let us know Ford, when it's, "down the road". What will you power with your WFC?

What are your heat temps? Are those plates conditioned?

    thanks

  • Thanks for the vote of confidence; I hope to have a website with my cells within 2 weeks. I plan on offering the unit with a PWM and EFIE built into the unit electronics. I want to make sure my unit performs as advertised with everything needed to make it work in your car. Not mason jars or 4 2x2 plates producing 20 Liters a min. I have not documented the temps yet but will before offering the unit.

  • EPDM is conductive. I've been using 40 mil PVC shower pan liner. If you make this change you may get better results.

I'm still impressed. My best is only 5.76 mmw. Maybe you can help me get better results. Do you have any secrets you can share?

I'm getting that the leakage around the holes may be more important than I thought.

  • great stuff

but what happened to the helix design?

  • I think he means EPDM, not EDMS.

  • looking good.

  • hi fordenergy, nice design and great volume! i'm getting too much heat at 30 amps and half your production and you have fewer plates. why do you think dry is more efficient than wet? fizzy

  • Because: current has tendency to go thru your SHARP edges of your plates rather then plain surface. In other words some 50% of your current leaks out thru the very sharp edge of your plate instead of running flat-to-flat surface. "WET" design eliminates this problem almost completely by sealing all edges and leaving current no other way but between flat surfaces. This causes even current flow thru large surface area causing cell to be very efficient.

  • What is an EDMS Gasket, and where do you get them?

  • NICE STATS! This is soooo helpful when a guy like me is trying to decide what to build next. Another stat that would be helpful is temperature throughout the experiment, especially after a few hours of operation. For instance. How long did it take to level off the temp to where it didn't rise anymore? What was the temp at that time? Electrolyte is also important. Have you tried sodium hydroxide? Very clean with hardly any corrosion.

  • one last question... how much water are you using? Looks about 2 liters worth?

Again great job - I am looking forward to seeing vid on how you constructed your cell.

    :)

  • Oh yea forgot to ask, what is the thickness of your SS plates, and have you tried different thicknesses?

    AH

  • very nice setup - I just finished making my first cell, a smack booster, and am still testing & tweaking it.

I like the closed cell idea. BTW where do you get your edms gasket material? Just curious cause now you got me wanting to build a cell like yours.

    ;)

    Keep up the good work.

    AH

  • Nice job FE! Keep up the good work!

  • Thank you

  • How hot dose it get if ran for an hour?

  • After 1 hour I cannot feel any heat increase, I know I am producing heat but it is minumal. My next cell will be much larger so I am planning on a cooling system in the very near future.

  • Does that mean you're the top producer right now ? 6.6mmw is pretty high, I'd say.

  • Thank you for the comment but I have only done what has been done before. I have had alot of input from other doing the same thing and I wouldnt be where I'm at without their help. So currently I may have the highest efficiency but tomorrow or the next day there will be one higher

  • So please tell me if I'm right: The higher the numbers of the mmw are, the more efficient is the cell. (???) Is this right?

    Thanks for your time!

  • sweeeet !!!

a very efficient device that's pretty to look at as well ... well done ...
