I agree we should avoid Deeds and paying the bills like adults, and quickly get back to Bushonomics with McDonnell. McDonnell's welfare-for-the-rich ideology sent everything it touched into a tailspin 2000-2008, so we need to get right back to that in Virginia.
Creigh Deeds wrote in an Op-Ed piece in the Washington Post that he would be willing to raise taxes in today's hard economic times. I pay more than enough in taxes. It is NOT my civic duty to pay exorbitant taxes - it IS my civic duty to oppose them!
Maybe so, but the Constitution has no line in which education is mentioned except for the 14th. The responcibiltiy of education is left up to the states by the constitution.
Dont give me the civic duty crap on taxes either. I live in England where the tax rate is out the roof. 35,000 pounds is 40% taxed and anything over adds on. You would think this place would be the Emerald City with all the Gov money. Yeah right. More taxes are the last thing we need in economic hard times.
I pay more than enough in taxes. I sick and tired of government greed. Why shouldn't a jackbooted government live within it's means like the rest of us?
Because in the traditional theory of democracy and the madisonian model (two ideas the Consitution was based on), it said to "socialize the young" and "provide for an enlightened public" AKA educate.
And do you realize how fucked up we would be if we had to provide our own education? I won't even go into that.
the gas tax didnt come soon enough, our schools are so underfunded that we are all stupid americans and are probably going to vote mcdonnell in

I'm sorry you're too selfish to fulfill your civic responsibility and pay taxes.

Unfortunately we're in tough economic times and everyone has to do their part and pay more taxes. There's no way around it.
If the government "lived within its own means" by your definition, then we wouldn't be able to enjoy our public education and other amenities in VA.

Since when is it the govs roll to provide education anyway?
Mr. Dollar would of sided with the English. Pity.
