  • What's to stop the attacker from punching him in the face?

  • very cool!

  • painful if u get hit properly by these tecniques

  • very painful, my friend went into shock after getting hit on the knee by a big guy.

  • @nidangerijodan i bet your friend is a fag lol

  • i like this style!

  • awesome...tnx for share...

  • RIP?r u confused or something?Tatsuo Suzuki Sensei is not dead!

  • Is amazing, never expected to watch a video showing technics that Susuki sensei (RIP) taught me more than 30 years ago!

  • I see that in his style, you stop the kick. In Ohtsuka's organisation, in other words as Shiomitsu teaches here in Europe, the attacker completes his kick while the defender avoids it while counter-attacking.

  • That's interesting. A bit like Kihon Kumite 7? JKF Wadokai teaches this kumite in the same way as Suzuki. I know he does some things differently, though. I think he also claims to teach everything as Ohtsuka taught him, while the other organizations make small modifications over time.

  • Yeah, your body should be completely off from the line of the kick but otherwise the position is the same as Suzuki does here.

  • These small differences depends on the teacher, but they also depend if you train Wado Kai or Wado Ryu. Some years after the founding os Wado Kai, Hironori Otsuka sensei withdrew himself from it and left it for the ones he called "the ones in suit" and began the Wado Ryu, where he would be concerned only in teaching and improving karate, and not with so much politics as was happening in Wado kai.

  • Yes, I've heard that training in the Wadokai organization is quite different from ours and that their administration is going haywire here in Finland. What I've wondered for a while now is how there is such a huge difference between members (at least in Finland). The number of members in just their club is in the same scale as the number of Wado-Ryu senior members in all of Finland.

  • Many factors may contribute to that difference. For example, here in Brazil we had a major division in the Wado Ryu dojos some years ago. There where 2 japanese senseis responsible for teaching and forming students, but they had a disagreement and almost ALL dojos had to "chose" a side. So, even in my town (we have about 36.000 habitants) we have 2 dojos, one from each school.

  • But I tell you this, do not worry about which has more seniors or more members, if you like your dojo, just train your own karate and improve yourself. We have so much to learn about ki, zanchin, the forms, kumite,... If we start worrying about number of members as well, it'll be much more dificult. After all, this is the reason why Hironori Otsuka sensei left Wado Kai, so let's follow his steps and honor his choice.

  • I wasn't worrying, only wondering. I've come to have the impression that our organization is superior, but that's mostly just caused by being used to our atmosphere. And I am very satisfied with my club and, in fact, quite sad at having to leave my club for university studies (although there is a club in that city also).

  • These are really informative. Thanks.
