I not sure why anyone would hunger for Llien or even Montoya to be back in F1, he was a good driver but nothing spectacular. There is a wealth of F1 talent at the moment: Hamilton, Alonso, Massa, Vettel, M Schumacher coming back, Button, Barrichello, Kubica, Rosberg, Raikkonen may come back for the 2011 season.
It's all very well putting nostalgia tinted glasses on, but sometimes you need to appreciate what's there now, and I think F1 is in a golden age of drivers, if not always overtaking fun
@JackRabbitSlim A year on now and we have the overtaking back. :) But I do still prefer the F1 back when they had less aerodynmics and bigger engines. Only a few drivers could really unlock their amazing cars full potential and there was a bigger reward for those who could get the most out of these cars. Today's cars are a bit too forgiving for my liking, but F1 is taking a positive step by banning the use of exhaust gasses ro create artificial downforce. Skill > Aero in my opinion.
Montoya changed at Mclaren, it was almost as if they neutered his personality to fit Mclaren's clinical and sterile attitude to racing. Montoya was a man of passion (so incidentaly is Alonso), Mclaren are a passionless team who are only interested in money and trophies. I think Montoya's time at Mclaren is to blame for him leaving F1.
@lukeCART1 thats true but then again that means he had the guts to go all out, instead of being afraid and settling back. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, but you can't deny it made for really good entertainment. Never a dull moment
@lukeCART1 What a bunch of nonsense. Every time Montoya sticks his nose in and Klien does close the door, Montoya backs off. He's just pestering Klien, trying to convince him he IS alongside. If Klien gives him room, he'll be able to pass. If not, he'll back off.
@lukeCART1 Yes, that is a big risk with this tactic he is employing, but Montoya is trying to disrupt Kliens driving. Doing what Montoya is doing in this video would be impossible most other places than F1 because you need to have ultimate trust in the driver you're fighting with.
the first couple of laps at Montreal were vintage Montoya...only, Rosberg didn't give the position away after short-cutting the chicane...eventually wrecking Montoya
good stuff. montoya forced the error. why doesn't he race like this anymore?! the Monster Montoya of Williams days seems a long way away from the sorry figure at mclaren this season :-(

thats good entertainment but really all he was doing for the most part was inviting klien to wipe his nose off at the apex of every corner.
