  • i love this song i don know who would not

  • Ni är absolut underbara!! älskar er!!

  • Praise God for The Vocal Band passed and present, and thank God I Believe In A Hill

  • Great In"st it nice God gives each one a difference voice, but the blend is just what he wanted

  • man speechless awesome singing God is Good thank you for the blessing :)

  • What is important is the message ... faith...love ... hope...and most important the Lord...

  • On Sept 12, 2011, I had a cardiac arrest and was put on a ventilator until 9/14 in the afternoon. I do not remember any of the events leading up to the cardiac arrest....after I woke up, I was told what a miracle I was, and was not expected to survive. This is the song that got me through my hospital stay and continues to minister to my weak heart. Praise God, we all can believe in a hill called Mt. Calvary.

Waiting for my voice to be completely healed in order to sing. God Bless

  • @Janicekrikorian I, too was rushed to the hospital for the same. I, too was a miracle. Twice in 2011. This song, and many others kept me focused on my mighty Saviour. Much self rehab, and faith, and my voice is back, so hang in there! HE will do it for you if you want it for His glory!

  • Actually Mark`s a baritone- but so much for semantics

  • Don't get much better than these four men together on a stage!! Most definately the best Gaither Vocal Band line up of them all!!

  • Nice song. . .

  • The content is much more important than the way they are singing it....listen to the words and let God move/ that's what worship music is for!

  • @Lizfootball read your Bible better. God never used "a drunk called Noah." God used Noah, who then later, after being used, got drunk once. I'm kinda tired of this whole "don't judge" thing some believers think is part of the Bible. Stop lifting a verse to suit your needs. Take the Bible as a whole. The Bible clearly tells us to judge multiple times. Try the spirits, Judge righteous judgement... Never forget where we came from, but don't let it be an excuse to brush a sin under the carpet.

  • I still perfer Jonathan. I have nothing against David Phelps he is a good singer, You can really hear the four part harmony blend well in this video.

  • Michael is still the best. For me at least... His voice is special. I can feel it! :-) God bless and keep him!

  • all the singers are good... Praise God for mt calvary

  • favorite part... when Jon Pierce come in at around 255... that part just makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up everytime :D

  • Guy Penrod has a beautiful voice

  • I love David, but don't compare him to Pavarotti. Two totally different voices. If you listen to the old recordings of Pavarotti from the early to late 1970's, he's about as good as I've ever heard.

  • Hate it for everybody...it don't get no better than Guy Penrod!!

  • @Lizfootball Amen!!!!!!! And lest we forget Saul (later Paul of course) who persecuted the church and went on to be used to spread the Gospel of our Lord

  • @Lizfootball I agree......there, but for the grace of God, go I. Isn't that true for EVERYONE as there has been, in all of history, only 2 men who were sinless...the first Adam, who fell, the 2nd Adam (Jesus, the sinless Son of God), who died to set us free from sin and death. All I can think is that @mjwalker1973 must not be reading the same Bible I do??

  • great song i loue the words to ht

  • love thats songs!

  • God Bless The Gaither Vocal!

  • Those 8 people who disliked the song don't have speakers on their computers

  • Gaither knows how to surround himself with God-Gifted singers, whether Phelps, Pierce, Lowry....Penrod...doesn't matter. God gave Bill a gift for finding amazing voices. I'm a minister's kid and grew up hearing Gaither's kids' tunes ("I wonder how it felt...to wake up in the belly of a whale?"). That stuff. So, I'm classically trained and thinkin' about how I used to hear "negative constructive critique" at all my playing exams.ps: Mr. Luciano P. was God-Blessed with power AND clarity. Bello!!!

  • Amazing Song! <3<3

  • Maybe he was nervousm,I gave a cd where they sing this and Jonathan does a great job, stop comparing one singer against another, but since its a topic, there are songs that have been done that i prefer Jonathan's or wes version of it,there are songs where i like Marshall Halls way of singing it.You wouldn't listen if everybody sang it the same way, they each have their on style,Go listen to the cds jonathan put out and they tell me he can't sing,he is very verstile with his music

  • Thank you Hoover for the OLD Vocal Band. They are the best! OneKewpie

  • how do i get people to respond to me? who is that guy on the left?

  • @mikesr7 the tenor? jonathan pierce

  • @hoover4000 Jonathan Pierce -and I believe he's a kid from Mississippi.....funny hou we've given the world so many darn fine singers (Elvis.....for one!), and players (BB King). He and Phelps are AMAZING. Guy raises the hairs on the back of my neck. Mark has a powerful tenor and Bill's just Bill--he has a very cool range. I <3 this tune and I think it's a fave.

  • @mikesr7 Jonathan Pierce

  • after listening to a great tenor like phelps sing the tenor for this song jonathan sounds like he can't even sing

  • Does this sound like heaven or what??

  • I love this song. I have a video of me singing this too. Check it out sometime. May God Bless you

  • What is the Long Haired Man's Name???Forgive my ignorance

  • @mblosser1

    Guy Penrod ?

  • @mblosser1 - guy penrod

  • @mblosser1 His name is Guy Penrod.

  • when you come to indonesia ?

  • I miss Jon Pierce... when he sang John the Revelator.. the spirit would move so much!

  • Marvelous! Praise God!

  • 187, 133 people viewing this video can't be wrong. Guy Penrod does a great job on this and really shows his wonderful voice. PTL

  • Soooooooooooooo BEAUTIFUL

  • thank you for this gr8 blessed song it really touched my soul!

  • thank you for this gr8 blessed song it really touched my soul!

  • Guy Penrod!!!! i love his voice!

  • AMEN and AMEN. It is finished

  • this song is really a blessing

  • This is an awesome song

  • What an awesome God we serve and what a stirring song. It touched my heart

  • i think this was the best formula for GVB. their voices blend really good

  • Absolutly beautiful and touching my heart so much , bring tears out remember God's love for me.

  • I,love you god .Pse help me

  • What a spiritual lift! Thank you for posting these wonderful songs.

  • So touching. Thank you! I am blessed. God bless you as you sing more songs for His glory and honor. More power!

  • So Blessed to hear this song.GodBless

  • thanks hover and lgp 1987. Maybe it got thumbs down because they are anti Jonathan Pierce. lol

    He has a beautiful voice

  • Thanks God.

  • Praise God! Love so much is song!!!!

  • I think I have been listening to just about every video on here.....they are amazing....and what a gift they have....I can only imagine praising our lord with that kind of a voice....wow.

  • why is my comment a poor comment? Thank you all. I love people who claim to be Christians but they are so critical to others. God Bless you.

  • i dont understand why it got thumbs down either

  • @hoover4000 someone just hit the wrong button

  • We'll fix it!! Even if I have to come in and give thumbs up everyday :D

  • @shortgal100

Was that a hint of sarcasm there????

    @hoover4000

Thank you for the videos! I love to listen to gospel so to see exactly who sings my favorite parts if very nice!

  • @shortgal100 yeah..

  • @shortgal100 this is world is full of all kinds of people. No one knows what makes them tick......God Bless You, too.!

  • Thank You God! Thank You for this group for spreading your word through song. Thank you Lord. By the cross i would stay!!

  • I absolutely love these songs of praise. Bless everyone who listens for it has blessed my family.

  • This is one of my favorite songs. I love the voice of Guy Penrod. He is so annoited. I also love to hear Jonathon Pierce.

  • @shortgal100 Me too! I'm sad that they both as well as Mark Lowry are not still present in the group today. This is such a classic!

  • this is when the gaithers sounded there best it was like one perfect voice the harmonies bar none

  • this is so great...Ilove this song.

  • I like this song///it so great.

  • Praise God!!!!!!!!! uncontrolled tears. The best tears ever shed.

  • praise God!

  • The Holy Ghost is ALL OVER this!!!

  • I have no doubt that when the Gaithers have passed on.... GOD will look at the 10,000 angels who are singing His praises and say "You can rest now, The Gaithers will be handling the music from now on!"

  • you know. when we get to heaven. the songs up there will not be anyone songs we know. the songs will be heavenly songs. if you ask me, it will be songs of all praise songs put together, it will go in harmony. and that is what we will sing to praise our Lord Jesus.. but yea im sure the gaither songs will be in the mix. :-)

  • I love this song....I love all the songs these guys sing, but this one is special....I especially love that second verse -" I believe that the Christ who was slain on the Cross has the power to change lives today, for He changed me completely......' wonderful words sung beautifully by Guy Penrod!

  • This was so beautiful We need to be reminded of that Old Rugged Cross that held our dear Saviour. Thank you Jesus

  • When Guy goes to that high note "...for He changed me completely..." I about get resurrected out!!!

  • Consigo sentir a presença do Espírito Santo nas músicas cantadas por eles. Que muuuuitas pessoas possam ouvir da Palavra de DEUS através desse canal.

  • I believe in a place called calvary...

    I was saved there

  • This is so great! I love this song! Guy is my favorite.. But I like all of them. :D

  • the greatest music is none other than gospel music; whether it be bluegrass, classic, black gospel...its unique & soothing.

  • Cantam muito p/gloria de DEUS!!!!!! cheios da umção do ESPIRITO SANTO......parabens....

  • Guy Penrod's voice just has this resounding effect...it really grabs my heart.

  • It's the spirit behind the voice - he is truly blessed with the capacity to deliver the message in a way that resonates with your very being. Isn't it wonderful that he shares his gift with us!

  • Congrats Hoover4000 resembles George Younce. Praise God. You could be Brothers in the natural not just the spiritual. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY JOY FILLED HEART FOR THE VIDEOS...Love to you my brother.JESUS IS COMING!!!!!!!

  • lol, was that a joke or serious?

  • My guess is a joke. He/she was referring to the little pic of George by your name, I think.

  • yeah i think they may have been serious. i had someone else leave me a comment thinking i was george younce cause the pic. not sure if it was the same person though

  • Now these four should be the new Gaither Vocal Group. I miss Johnathan too. This is perfect music at it's finest. Can't you hear the Lord shouting.

  • i miss jonathan! what a beautiful, clear voice and wonderful testimony. i hope he is well!

  • I don't think I have heard Jonathan before----it is refreshing to see men unashamed of their faith in Jesus....

  • I like Marshall Hall better in this song rather then Jonathan Pierce no offense Jonathan

  • Elvis Presley has always surrounded himself on and off stage with greatest gospel groups and singers. No doubt Elvis would be singing with these people ! Elvis would loved them!

  • yeah, but they wouldn't be singing with him.except of course Elvis would have become a child of God.

  • i have this tape background, started singing it yrs ago, but it still brings tears to my eyes....

  • I shake my head at all of you...

I watch vids of Christian songs to GET AWAY FROM the secular vids that have people comparing singers, etc.

What's the most important thing is that people sing and praise His wonderful name!!

  • you have made an excellent point I for one give thumbs up.

  • Dont pay attention to the commentary.

  • As Christians we are not in competition . God looks on the heart not on "What is best " There is no "Best" with God .Remember we are all equal in God's sight . Grannyline

  • I'm not sure that God is too concerned w/ whom has the better voice, just that they are worshipping & gathering in his name. God bless.

  • This is not my favorite colaboration of the GVB. However the message transends who ever sings it. Listen to the words Bill put together praising our risen lord..... "BY THE CROSS I WILL STAND." We all cling to that old rugged cross......

  • thanks for sharing this song, truly God lifts our soul while listning to this kind of song... God bless!

  • jonathan had NOTHING on david phelps

  • Perhaps, but Jonathan is still a phenomenal singer as are all the other singers associated with the Gaither Vocal Band. This song is so powerful; at least it is for me, I don't care who sings it. :)

  • I want to share my story with the world. The Cross made the difference for me, I was critically gun shot many years ago and I praise God and thank Christ for dying for me. Had it not been for Christ, I would not be alive today. Listen closely to the words of this powerful song. I'm alive today because Christ gave me a 2nd chance. Visit a church this Sunday of your choice and feel him move within. God bless you one and all.

  • AMEN!!!!

  • The man on the far right with the light coat.

  • Cant believe that Jonathon sang the opening verse with Mark there. Looks like I will have to go back to my other version with Mark singing (although it is slightly out of sinc). Even still the goose pimples are still tingling

  • As far as this conversation goes, if you research the history of the GVB, you will find that many Southern Gospel singers gained their start under the instruction and talent of Bill Gaither. They all got a chance.

  • JP was the best ever i wish he didnt leave

  • I AGREE!

  • i believe he is the one in the lighter color coat

  • Wonderful!!!

    God Bless Alll

  • Guy Penrod is such a revelational singer - my heart leaps with joy as he brings down the house with such intensity! Praise God for his heavely voice!

  • seems JP is always come and going! Where is he?

  • yes, jonathan pierce is good but david phelps has got to be the most powerful voice that southern gospel music has ever seen or ever will see.

  • I like David phelps but he is not a southern gospel singer. he is an operatic singer who didn't make it doing that. He doesn't sound southern gospel in the slightest. and now he is doing christian pop and half the songs are unlistenable.

  • trust me, he could have "made it" in opera if he had the desire for it. how does he "not sound" southern gospel? do you need a pusific voice tone to sing gospel? he is the greatest tenor alive who choose to use his talent for GOD. Get your nose out of the air.

  • I said I like him. he is very talented. but he is about as southern gospel as pavarotti. as far as the whole "greatest tenor alive but just chooses to use talents just for God" argument, I won't bring up any facts to bring us back to reality. this is too much fun.

  • since your such an expert on what sounds southern gospel, lets see you do what david phelps can do :) yeah i thought so you can't so until you can don't critize

  • Did phelps try a career in opera and fail? I'm curious. I'm studying as an opera singer and I've hear a few metropolitan opera tenors live just a few feet away from me and it seems as though David's top notes are just as good.

  • I confess myself astonished by the pure arrogance you're displaying.

The Southern Gospel community embraced David as one of them. David was a Southern Gospel singer when he sang Southern Gospel music. When he did solo work, it was a more contemporary sound.

By the way, why are we discussing Phelps here? In case you missed it, that's Jonathan Pierce.

  • Palmasdr worships Michael English...just check his videos. But for whatever reason, this obsession includes dissing David Phelps...very sad indeed.

  • Def don't worship him, just think he was a better singer and someone who doesn't get credit cuz of how he screwed up his life. I don't look up to him as a person, just as a talent. and i know he can't sing anymore, but he did help make gaither what he is today. on my videos, videos of pavoratti, groban, you have crazy fans posting "phelps is greatest singer ever" all over the place. sorry if i don't agree.

  • as far as worshipping people, it is funny how phelps fans can post any comment on any site bashing another singer and saying "phelps destroys this guy" and it gets positive ratings, but say the slightest critique of phelps as a person or singer and immediately gets slammed. look at this video with jonathan pierce, a great singer. stand up for him get negative rating, say phelps kills him and it is a great comment. people flat out worship this guy and ignore any faults.

  • that is because there are no faults. David is simply the best that ever lived. I have seen him four times and no one can approach his talent. Wes, Jonathan Pierce, shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as Mr. Phelps. and Michael English is a washed up drug addict. Listen to Phelps new Nessun Dorma and you will know why he blows Pavoratti away!!. Thank God for David!

  • i agree David is wonderful and he has a special place in my heart, but Jonathan does have a lovely voice, and the michael english comment was totally not cool. Michael had many issues for a while (as we all do) but he has been washed in the blood and forgiven and he is, once again back on the right path. He is one of the greatest vocalists as well as David and it's not fair (or christian) to hold his problems against him

  • Funny. thanks for proving my point. sad part is I like phelps, I just am objective. All the people who two years ago said he would never do secular and would use his talents only for God are now the same people who say he is expanding his ministry while he sings unchained melody (which is an awesome version). though look up his nessun dorma vid and at least some of his fans can see the dif between pavoratti and phelps. Phelps best performances are with GVB in my opinion.

  • ur right!

  • @mjwalker1973 You know, if Mike passed the muster of Bill and Gloria to join their team, I'm sure Mike is just a former washed up drug addict washed in the blood of Jesus Christ. I hope this never happens to you, but if you, your spouse, or your child(ren) ever fall from the grace of God for whatever reason, if they aren't welcome at your church, then they are welcomed at ours. Thank God for the saving "power to change lives today" and the song of the redeemed saying so!

  • @mjwalker1973 Jonathan Pierce can sing too.. God has a plan for him just as David Phelps. I am a great fan of David Phelps, but there is know reason to knock anyone just because you do not think they are better. Remember take the plank out of your eye before you judge another. Michael English made a mistake in his life. I guess you never have????

  • @mjwalker1973 : At the foot of the cross, we are all equal. It is not good to compare talent. Everyone gives their all and what they give should not be diminished by comparing.them to others.

  • Yes he does have the most powerful voice of a tenor i have ever heard. But Danny Funderburk is a close second!

  • I love Jonathan Pierce. Of course he's no David Phelps--how many out there are? I'd certainly like to know where Jonathan Pierce is today.

  • Jonathan sings with a sincere emotion, anointing of God, and humility that put him at a place of ministry where talent is irrelevant (although he has plenty of it). I stopped buying GVB albums when he left.

  • is it me or is that jonathan guy well flat in this song...i think it`s out of his leauge my self.. never mind hey

  • No it's not you, bighugephil. If you compare the other version hoover has added of this song Mark Lowry

does a much better job singing Jonathan's part. For me it sounds like Jonathan is 'singing' the words where Mark is 'feeling' the words.- Big difference.

  • He's good but the version of this song with David Phelps I think shows David's superior talent. However, no matter what the talent if it's a joyful noise made to the Lord with a heart of praise that is what pleases God.

  • Jonathan Pierce is the best singer!

  • whic one is bill gaither?

  • The man on the right is Bill Gaither. You have Jonathan Pierce, Guy Penrod, Mark Lowry and Bill Gaither.
