  • Great work, Athletes!!!

    make it 9 million...

    and then you may die..

    go to heaven.. i pray..

  • I don't know why, but everytime I listen to this song, my eyes get teary...This song really does touch a persons heart

  • Both my babies spent time in special care. Amazing song, makes me cry every time. I now run a support group for parents of premature babies and always share this song. It's like our 'theme tune' :-)

  • Both my babies spent time in special care. Amazing song, makes me cry every time. Thank you. I now run a support group for parents of premature babies and always share this song. It's like our 'theme tune' :-)

  • i. cant. stop. listenting. :)

  • Amazing and makes me so proud of my beautiful daughter.

  • very moving

  • magnifique!!!

  • i cried when i heard this song the 1st time...v unusual for me!

  • anyone else notice how the tunnel and the lights at the back make him look like he has wings and he is a guardian angle over his daughter?

  • ryand111 :D aside from the fact that he wouldn't technically be a guardian "angle" :P i TOTALLY see the wings thing. that's so cool. I love this music video.

  • Hmm, the melacholic side of me always expresses itself whenever I listen to this song. A brilliant song like this should get at least an award( I don't hear them getting even one for this song). Siggghhh, I wonder why british bands are so under-rated when they are supposed to dominate the top charts.

  • Maaaan! Its been sooo many years since the last time I heard this song! Oh the memories...

  • Bonita musica :)

  • my teacher knows the lead singer of them

  • love this song, been ages since ive heard it though

  • I heard this song in my car last Feb' 5th. ........ I was on my way to see my gran in hospital....... we were told that she would never wake up.......... This is the song that i will always remember. Thank you Athlete

  • same here

  • @ojwatts thats so sad =(

  • Beautiful song..With a happy ending for his daughter.

  • I wanna hug him, cry and fangirl over his accent all at the same time!

  • Its about his kid who was born with problems, not 100% sure what.

  • born premature i think. got taken into intensive care, born christmas day.

  • correct, his daughter, just made it through i think, heartfelt song though

  • Great song, naff video!

  • I actually agree with this. The song is amazing but the video is pretty dull and doesn't go with lyrics at all. Shame on you, boys, I expected much better!

  • Oh i get it! about the wires in the hospital and stuff, i always wondered what it ment, good song though.

  • My parents always said this reminded them of me as I had health problems when I was born (not size related).

  • Comment removed

  • my sister was seven weeks premature and she had to go in an incubater. i luv this song i saw them @ the exeter pheonix in july and this was the very last song they did! emense atmosphere!!!

  • This is your perfect song! :)

  • love this song reminds me of my ex misses!!!!

  • I love this song, but it kinda makes me want to kill myself at the same time...

  • this is what happened 2 my sis she was the size of my dads hand when she was born nd now shes well tall she nearly die and we have pictures of her in the incubator

  • my cousin wasn't so lucky

  • i am soo sorry to hear that :'( my mates cuz was on it 4 about a monthy then they switchd it off she survived then die a couple of days later :( xx

  • this is a beautiful song

  • This song is reality - his reality. There is a lot of fake sincereity masquerading as heartfelt emotion in the modern roster of indie rock bands - from Snow Patrol, through the almost laughable onstage antics of Coldplay, to the bland "trying sooo hard to be different" safe suburan middle class rubbish of Bloc Party. This song is one man's involuntary flirtation with hell, and the beauty of survival is there for all to see and hear. A remarkable piece of music.

  • Disagree about the Bloc Party quote, but leaving my music mind open makes me entirely agree with your comment..

  • Agree

  • also disagree about Bloc Party. their music is pretty out there, but the songs are some of the most accurate popular social commentaries around, in my opinion.

  • snow patrol - run goes good with this :)

  • @ravinella yep..i agree! nothing fake about this band...thas why they're so beautiful!!!

  • @ravinella its just music does it realy matter ??

  • @Leldridge09 yes!

  • @Leldridge09 not really, some people look into a bit too much I think

  • lol this reminds me of core d.a.b. radio station, used to play this so many times ;)

  • great sound,a mature sound ,with emotion

  • i have got to meet they 1 or 2 time the song is about his son when he was born

they are very chilled out guys .

  • superb , emotional song

  • i remember when the skatepark i go to used to play this like 10 times every 2 hours it was great

  • I love this song! Greenbelt was AMAZING!

  • im about to post on utube them performing this live in widescreen HQ

  • i totally agree they are amazing so is greenbelt lol

  • This song is amazing i love them i saw them yesturday at greenbelt did any1 else??

  • Me :D:D

This song is utterly amazing live :)

  • THIS SONG IS WONDERFUL !

  • This song and then some of the comments on here literally bring me to tears. It's a beautiful.

  • This song brings back good memories, I haven't heard it in ages. Beautiful. :)

  • This is a beautiful song. I love the staccato lyrics, they suit the emotion perfectly.

    Simply gorgeous

  • the song started to echo in my mind as i frequented the a&e at night after work. this was the only way into frimley park hospital after 10, but it is where i slept for 7 days waiting for my baby and my wife to pull through. there was a time when i saw nothing. i love you lorraine i wish i could have done more

  • This song is an account of lead singer Joel Pott's fear and hope as he bonded with his baby daughter after she suffered a seizure shortly after being born and was rushed into intensive care.

  • We finally brought our boy home 2 weeks ago. Our little man was 2lb 2 oz ~born on my wife 1st day of maturnity leave!

2 1/2 months spent in hospital.

A Very poignant song that brings me to tears daily.

I believe "christmas lights reflecting in" directly relate (for me) to all the flashing monitors and sensors but also and cleverly about HOPE. it was so hard to get through each day and i feared looking further than a week , secretly ~ though, as if I mightov jinx it, dared to picture Xmas

  • my daughter was in for 3 weeks not as long as your little guy but every moment was heartbreaking ..........4 years later and the line 'looking at you now you would never know' does it for me . even though she drives me mad sometimes i still see her in that plastic box and remember the helpless feeling that i know every parent in the same situation feels.good luck to you and your family.

  • the christmas lights was probably because he spent christmas in the hospital with his baby

  • I love this music by its musicality and specially by the letter. It's so deep and sad and beautiful the way of showing the feeling about a difficult situation like that: have a premature baby and doesn't know if he will survive. It's deep

  • This is such a beautiful song.

  • beautiful song about a tragic reality....them 6 words sum the song up perfectly for me.

  • such a beautiufl song... even though after a day of this playing in HMV a couple of years ago all the sales people turned emo-ey XDD true story lol

  • Yous are all reading too much into just listen to the song and enjoy it. And say wither u like it or not instead of all your other rubbish so sad.

  • When I was listening to this song I pictured the music video a little differently - like the whole video is actually set in a hospital because the lines of the chorus are really deep and emotional I could imagine him...I don't know, actually running? or maybe crying?

  • it's exactly about that. but that kind of video would cost a lot

  • this shit is too bad

  • I never understood why this song was underrated

One of the best pop song of 2006

  • amazing pure goose bumps

  • this is amazing and I know just what it feels like, it was awesome to hear a song that you can actually feel what he was going through.. although I wish I no one ever has too.

  • such an amazing song, it kinda makes me sad though =[

  • saw them today at guilfest :)

  • yeahh bled! was so awesome!

  • At school, we used this song in our play, which was for our Drama GCSE. Such a good song.

  • great song can play on piano

  • its a about premature babies cos the singers child was born premature

  • It ook me ages to figure that out. At first I assumed it was about an ex or a sibling. :/

I keep trying to figure out what the jagged trail of electricity is about. Maybe it's a metaphor for lines on a heart monitor- the lifeline of his newborn child versus the distance he has to go to get to him.

I thought the fact that he's walking instead of running was odd at first considering the song's underlying meaning. Maybe that's just symbolic of his fear that he's already too late?

  • Comment removed

  • i think your reading into it too much, just enjoy this gorgeous song.

  • Sorry. I have this crazy habit of looking for meaning in things like music and art rather than just taking everything at an enjoyably vapid face value.

Call me idealistic, but I say music is meant to be interpreted.

If nobody ever read into anything, YouTube and every other media outlet in existence would become a virtual wasteland of indifference ranging from "I like it" , to "I don't" to "Whatever."

I doubt that's what the artists were going for with this song, what do you think?

  • You appear to be quite intelligent,

or rather the person you paid to write your comment does?

    I'm obliged to say, you're a muppet.

  • ... O_o ?

I say I think music can be interpreted many ways, and appreciated for more than just it's sound- so I'm a "muppet"?

LOL.... I see your point, my comment-writer has nothin' on you. Who'd you pay, Baby Kermit?

  • Do you have an actual objection to what I said about interpretation, or maybe an opinion of your own about the video... anything relative to add at all? Or are you just looking for some attention and an excuse to use the word "muppet"?

  • I agree with you about the metaphor for lines on a heart monitor. But about the fact that he's crossing a desert means what he may be feeling about it. In a situation like that shown in the song you feel lonely and everything turns to be complicated. A desert means that. He is crossing a desert.

  • Good eye. :)

  • When I found out what this song was about i felt so sad its such a lovely song!!! =]=[

    great band!

  • I love it! First time I heard it was a while ago on one tree hill.

  • lol very sad but at least you know the song now

  • beautiful song

  • a brilliant, melancholic song. But, after reading the lyrics, it is even more depressing.

  • why depressing?...it's about the singer's baby. beautiful and melancholic, still. :-)

  • yeah I know. But, imagine you're the person in the lyric. Time is against you. You have to chase the time to see your sayyy mother for the last time. I've just experienced how it felt recently. This song evokes the memory when I was in the similar situation as the lyric interpreted. Soo I hope that explains your qs.

  • it does. didn't think about that...sorry.

  • Absolutely class song!!! Will always be in my top ten.

  • Excuse me? I was commenting on the fact how it's bad that such a good song has so few vews/comments..... I wasn't treating it like some game. Thanks for the accusations.

  • this song i so old but is still the best on my list......
