The way we do it, We go into a shin half deck only landing on the right shin, then wrap the left leg around the tails back. It feels more stable than trying to wrap both around the back. if this works better for you than stay with it. Also, head, try to look back (past the Tail) as quick as possible, you don't want your head to catch the ground on the swing.
