  • This is such an amazing invention! I want this so bad for my apartment so my neighbour won't complain all the time!

  • The title is misleading. It is just a a stronger speaker.

  • So freakin awesome!

  • its all area 51

  • You guys realize that this gives you the ability to make someone hear something that apparently comes from nowhere, and that NO ONE ELSE CAN HEAR.

If you don't realize the incredible implications of that, you're not using your brain. Imagine beaming Ahmadenijad a "message from Allah" late one night while he's standing in a crowd of bodyguards.

  • 200 million for surround sound.

  • yes it can. I can say the words, "Hello, High Fly Action Guy. How's it going?" And then record it on my computer. Then I can email it to you while you are sipping Pina Colada's in Seoul. When you open the email and hear my creepy whisper voice. It will have traveled much faster than sound in air. Open your mind homie.

  • imagine sitting in class listening to really high music coming from your pc and you are the only one to hear it!

  • Is this just an electrostatic speaker?

  • @jimmy1nth3machine well aren't you a funny person

  • MEDIA IS EVIL!

in another language this is a "voice to skull" and (DEW) it's actually an harassments if it is going on 24-7 - something that CIA / Media -and other corporations like darpah and lockheed doing all the time to ruining targeted individual and innocents people!

  • @HighFlyActionGuy well thats if youre judging sound by wavelength, if you adjust the wavelength you adjust the speed of the sound in terms of how fast it passes between two points in space.

  • 40 million dollars worth of investment?

  • NIN used this tech at some of their shows as part of the Year Zero ARG

  • Whoever made this is a sick Fu**!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • so they are pretty much using an electro static speaker

  • I once read the explanation was a lie, that it actually just a bunch of tweeters emitting regular sound frequencies, dunno what to believe

  • This is a weapon of torture.

  • @AnjuABCDE The good news is its disabled with some bullets. The same with the microwave canons so these are weapons for cowards who will only use them on people who cant fight back. Like peaceful people protesting their Governments out of control behavior. We will be seeing more of these on our streets in the future.

  • I bet he hasnt invested shit in this, but the army has, he is just providing it out to the public so the army will get more money for their army. Easy as that.

  • @ThermalHD Right on ! War= Money, Ancient wisdom.

  • Hey its cool to see somebody you personally know on tv. Woody is a pretty cool guy.

  • This is a "future weapon" in what way?

  • @HighFlyActionGuy

Hypersonic in the sense that the compression waves move the air back and forth faster than the speed of sound in air. It's just high frequency, high amplitude sound.

It's actually two signals being pumped out: a fixed high-frequency signal and a variable one; their interference is what produces what you hear.

  • @Fordi

That's right exactly what Woody told me. It's unreal gotta hear it.

  • now all you need is a lazer sight

  • It's amazing how that works i remember seeing this demonstration on Jesse Venturas conspiracy theories.

  • So they are gonna make their enemies deaf or what!?!?

  • 40 million dollars and he laughs!

  • @nitiscrappy The government spend trillions(peoples money) on war. I made "hypersonic sound" with my speakers.

  • Hypersonic is referring to the fact that his product can transfer sound faster than current technology because it doesn't adjust the pressures as much and the waves won't slow down in transit because of that.

  • Fucking military monopol technology.

  • they can do the same thing but better with radio wavs the radio one can go right in the brain

  • This device could be used as mind control.

  • this would be good way to get rid of somali pirates

  • @lvll138inrs Why should they?

  • 20years ago manufacture from japan (maybe Mitsubishi) demontrate ultra sonic speaker for the firt time in a electronic expo in japan. I don,t remember which expo, i read in a audio magazine

  • It's great as an instrument of torture because it does not leave many marks on the body.

  • the term for sound barrier breaking is super sonic not hypersonic, meh most of you dumbasses didnt even notice

  • Point being it takes that one first big investment to lead to future inventions. Example without investing in elctricity well we wouldn't have much at all now would we.

  • 40 million dollars for that piece of crap?!? The police already have sound suppression devices, so why do we need another one?

  • @BlurredFace Who do you think they bought that from? The applications for hypersound are practically endless. You'll come to realize this within the next few years as this technology starts to be implemented in every day life.

  • @threnodyofcrows well i like normal, all direction speakers just fine, and i guarantee hypersound speakers will be ridonkulusly expensive until they are more common.

  • @BlurredFace, you would´t grasp a pile of shit, if standing right in FRONT of it, DUDE!

this stuff i meant to be used as military weapon, and not to entertain your lazy ass!

SO, i´d take a chilled drpepper and a freakin´ yummy burger with some french fries!

  • @BlurredFace, Nakatomi Plaza?

  • @Nudelsalatbomber Still three question marks

  • This clit didn't invent this.

It's the concept of sound from ultrasound, which is an idea from 1960

  • I hear ultrasonic sound can be used for levitation

  • @DBZass

    I hear that's probably bullshit.

  • Oh, and have been used in ships for keeping pirates away for years (before this came out).

  • It uses piezoelectrics rather than magnets.. Not hypersonic..Hypersonic>supersonic>what this is doing

  • and this is a weapon how?

  • @zenthex1234 lol deafen your enemies.

  • @zenthex1234 - A single 36" x 40" panel that generates a focused "beam" of sound 153dB SPL @ 1 meter makes it a weapon. Here is an example of it's use by Georgian riot police in 2008 -- youtube.com/watch?v=_EUU0BpQego

  • @MediaBlitzDIR a flash bang can do the same thing...

  • @zenthex1234watch this and you'll see youtube/watch?v=YTPuTxalalo&feature=related

  • @zenthex1234watch this and you'll see youtube.com/watch?v=YTPuTxalalo&feature=related

  • @zenthex1234 watch this and you'll see

    youtube.com/watch?v=YTPuTxalalo&feature=related

  • @HighFlyActionGuy Actually, hyper means over and sonic is something of or having to do with sound, so Hyper Sonic can also mean higher sound frequency, not just sound speed.

  • @Gintaras I hadnt thought of it that way, but it could have been a bit more aptly named. Science is overly specific about a lot of things, no reason to break the trent here lol

  • the dude looks like an evil scientist when he smiles.. hes all like >:P "after 8 years"

  • Omg 40million , and 8 years?? hmm.. I think I'm happy for my 12" earthquack

  • Best weapon ever xD

Imagine pointing it at someone from a really long distance saying something like

"you must kill the children and drink their blood, their youth will become your youth"

  • @HighFlyActionGuy I guess hypersonic is a misnomer, they should say "hyperfrequency". And they call themselves scientists.

  • not sound going faster than sound... that dude just found out a way to focus sound waves, all they did was make ultrasound audible, cuz when you ultrasound t womb, you dun see the doc's hand right? same thing, you point at x, you dun hear at y

  • hahah diss will ich als abhör monitor haben hahah krass mann damit muss abmischen spaß machen kein sound geht auf dem weg zum gehör verloren genial O.O

  • someone says it couldn't be a weapon.. if he just makes it enough powerful to generate 175 db or more powerful soundwaves, it will be able to kill someone. (just 120 db needed to have the chance of a permanently hearing impairment)

  • they can play it at a certain frequency and it can make you topple over in pain

  • They are producing less than lethal weapons with this technology. Ever seen the new Hulk movie? Remember those humvees with those strange satelite dishes on the back? They are actually real life high powered versions of these, although it was still special effects etc.

  • whats the point?

  • so DR.DRE can put the technology in his head phones...lol

  • Lol i want this material to build my room so no one can say im putting too much volume on! :D

  • So, when you bust out this horrifyingly destructive weapon, you're banking on your targets standing in a tight cluster, and not blasting your little speaker with an RPG? Awesome.

  • which one of ya'll thumbs'd down me? hypersonic = faster than sound barrier, I stand by my previous statement.

probably one of you nwo mofo's trying to make this go away like the thousands of missing people, don't you fucking know when to quit? by the way, your going to have to nuke us now you've pissed us off beyond redemption and you WILL pay for your crimes against humanity, if it means your the last few left dying of nuclear fallout so be it.

seriously, hypersonic sound and no1 bats an eye

  • Well, the "super-" prefix would mean it's going faster than sound. "hyper-" would indicate an extreme example of something, like "hyperactive" is extremely active, while "supernatural" is beyond natural.

So, "hypersonic" means the sound is really, really, um... soundy. Yep, still pretty dumb.

  • hypersonic sound? sound traveling faster than sound??

all scientists can fornicate with their mothers from this day foward, I no longer trust a word you have to say.

  • @KKinsane2009 LOL

  • @KKinsane2009

Hypersonic Sound is not the technology's scientific name, it is it's marketing name, designed to sound "cool" and sell the product. The scientific name is "Sound from ultrasound".

  • Get a couple of these and put them on your walls in your room facing you and your computer and youve got the best speaker system EVAR.

  • go deaf lol

  • A good sized part of that 40 mil probably went into how to use this for emense evil ops we cannot as yet even imagine. Now there comes the real profit.

  • i saw that guy in conspiracy theory

  • Not to mention you can listen music disco style without disturbing the neighbourhood :)

  • @somethingirreversib or, in my case, you can counter your neighbour's awful gangsta rap without the rest of the neighbourhood thinking you're as bad as he is.

Oh how I wish that I could blast power metal into my neighbour's open window right now.

  • the heat some thing is cooler than sound

  • brilliant

  • And can focus or bounce that level of realistic sound?! Nice deception device...heh,heh,heh.

  • @piskapiskapiska Yea thats what I meant 40 mil to reasearch. Who ever funded this is sooo stupid.

  • Its very good, you can distract enemies in hostage or military situations. Or you can drive them crazy by playing them high frequency noise.

  • @somethingirreversib Hell yeah its very usefull, but 40 mill worth of research is kinda extreme.

  • I don't think hyper sonic means traveling faster than the speed of sound in this case. The waves are just focused much more precisely.

  • that is awesome

  • The sound is heard right at the side of his ear because of the interference of ultrasonic sound but I still don't understand how he can make the sound wave travel at a single right angle like the laser?

  • would 40 million dollars and 8 years help?

  • in the future this can be made to kill or take down buildings.

  • This is not meant to be a weapon like a gun. It could create a distraction.

  • thats what the cops use on their on people in the US iaint it? IE G20 protests?

  • oh man that is awesome! I got to get me one of these...

  • incredibly cool, but I fail to see the "weapon" aspect...

  • You can whack the guy that invested $40 million dollars on this upside their head. Ye sure its cool. But I doubt it takes 40 million bucks to make that.

  • Need one that'll emit the dreaded SouthPark "Brown Note" that would be tits there. Hard to fight when youve just unloaded a couple days worth of shit in yer pants. Fairly demoralizing too I'd imagine XD

  • This weapon is mostly designed for riots and to disperse groups of protestors.

  • No it isn't, oh wait, no, your right.

    watch?v=ZjsgymR8Kg4

The Pittsburgh police want everyone to stop calling it a weapon. they say it is not one. Ha.

  • stupid weapon the worse that can do is blow out there ear drums they still have legs and arms and trigger fingures..... useless...

  • attach it to the gun and it would make a bit of an effect

  • a big factor in battle is morale, this may break morale

  • You could play hot porno chicks moaning, and point the device at troops.

  • lol

  • they should make it like a huge as shield lol it would work well for protection and stoping the enemy

  • I refer you all to the footage of the recent g20 riot in pittsburgh. Look for the riot van with that speaker on top. That's obviously how he's recouping his investment. What a dick - should have use it for concerts - not dispersing crowds

  • It could create a diversion during for covert op missions

  • It had already used in illegal drugs as a weapon..

  • stupid weapon...

I just need a cotton to protect my self..

  • Unfortunately you are wrong. The same way ultrasound passes through human flesh for imaging, sonic weapons pass through most materials for injury to your body. The idea isn't just to hurt your ears, it can vibrate your eyes to blind you, make you puke, or even cause brain-damage via micro-cavitation.

  • I want this one connected to Logic!

  • That is the best weapon. Try to scare the enemy with sound.

  • Rick Roll them...

  • im prietty sure that jus wearing some kind of pressurized suit would render a sound wave weapon usless.... weather i t b a dive suit or a space suit.... the waves are only strong enuf 2 cause internal damage.... not serious body trama

  • Great, you get soldiers running around in a 150 pound suit plus their usual 70 pounds of gear and you don't even need a sonic weapon .. you can just pick them off one by one as they lumber across the battlefield or watch them drop dead of exhaustion.

  • well... it would have 2 be addapted for combat..... made of carbon fibers or some shit.....

  • You people like this you shoukd look into how strong enough sound waves can crush peoples skulls and rupture there organs.

Imagine satnding in front of LRAD at full blast...that'll kill you in seconds.

    We need more sound weaponary.

i am working on (right now) using the HSS and converting it into a hand held LRAD.

  • Awesome ...

  • what's next? holograms?

that would be awesome with this in a home theater system!

    :)

  • XD this would be awesome for a prank lol jsut point it at someone then no on else can hear it and they think they are goin crazy ha ha

  • Here comes the brown note weapon.

Seriously, Imagine what these will do for the entertainment system in the house

  • it might be that sound is only ddirected towards your person so that the rest of the house isn't yelling "Turn that down!"

  • Mythbuster already tried the 'brown note' sound test. BUSTED!

  • 40 million dollars of investment?

wow.... i dont understand how people didnt see the economy crisis coming....

why do we invest in stupid shit?!

  • "stupid shit'? This is one of the most important inventions in sound since the creation of the speaker. What don't you get about that? There are limitless uses for this.

Only problem right now, is that the price needs to drop.

  • fair enough, its impressive and in some ways usefull.

but 8 years and 40 million dollars arent worth making something like this.

those 40 million dollars and 8 years should have been invested into something usefull.

this is why i said this is stupid shit

give me one use for this thing which isnt self entertainment or warfare.

if this can cure aids, cancer or some other fatal disease then i will take my words back. but i doubt it can.

  • this is similar technology to that of ultrasounds that detect tumors and can "see" into a person's body without causing the harm that X-rays do.

besides, in the world of developing new technologies, 8 years and 40 million is not very much.

  • Why dont you stop trying to dictate what other people can or cannot spend their money on, you communist. If curing disease is so important to you, then invest your own money.

  • This 40 mil was invested _because_ of the coming economic crisis - to control the people who will rise up. They did see it coming and prepared for it

  • Calling this a stupid not worth it is just plain wrong!

This tech will change so many things. For example:

At home imagine TRUE surround sound entertainment systems.

The Police force could use this to subdue rioting crowds with loud noises without annoying the general public.

In the Military imagine using these speakers to reflect sound off a nearby mountain or hill tricking the enemy into thinking that they are flanked or just to draw fire to an empty hillside.

  • oohhh like we dont have enough "true surround sound" as it is.... ohh yea when a riot is going on the police should be quiet so they dont wake up anyone huh.....and once again the only use this would be is in the military...and i mark that as useless

so your other 2 facts contradict each other

proving that that thing is useless except for self entertainment....which isnt worth 40 mill

  • How ignorant and unimaginitive you are.

  • moron

  • you're right completely, it's just the Crowd rioting could wake people up when using it against them...

  • because stupid shit like that is what leads to other inventions that become life essential.

  • People invested in this because they were smart enough to know that they will make that money back 10-fold, you idiot. And anyway, many of our most important inventions started out as military-funded research...The Internets, for one! The applications of this kind of technology are limitless, get your head out of your ass.

  • 40 million dollars to a great cause!.....uh...wait?

  • creepy...the CIA used to to use this kinda stuff in the 60's and 70's to electronically harrass people

  • haha hater... dun hate da top country..

  • Sorry, God's too busy blessiong other countries.

  • amen

  • god is busy, can i help you?

  • LRAD is the technology of yesteryear and no longer used by US Military due to its inefficiency. Wonder why there was so many cases of US Military shooting innocent civilians in Iraq?? Cause when they used LRAD to send out messages it wasn't effective at certain distance. No one could hear the warning messages. The civilians continue to approach the Military who felt threaten and started shooting them. You will not get the truth from the US Military cause they knew they bought an inferior product

  • Haha lol too true ... . ..

  • That would be funny if the little 3d guy's head exploded when the waves hit :D

  • Very interesting, I'm really curious to know how is built this flat loudspeaker.

  • Genius! These are the time of innovative inventions that move us further in the technological world

  • Love it! Soon we can make forest parties without disturbing pesky neighbors or forest critters! Do they come in 10.000 watt versions?

  • this makes sense, because there are several ways one can reduce the spreading of the sound.

    1. Make the sound at higher frequencies

    2. Make the air lighter

    3. Make the Wave faster

#1 wont work because humans can't hear it

#2 won't work because air is the environment

#3 shouldn't work because sound travels based on temperature, and air... But if someone does manages to change the speed of the sound waves, then theoretically, it would work...

I guess they figured it out!

  • u cant hear ultrasound...

Hypersonic sound, im guessing, refers to the speed of which the sound travels, at high supersonic speeds.

Ultrasound on the other hand refers to the High Frequency of which the sound travels.

    Different...

  • yer ur think ur right with that the only thing that is confusing it for me is that fact that its not spreading because sound has to use a medium which is usually air i dont get how they can fucus sound to one part od the medium without it spreading

  • sound can only travel as fast as its medium permits. roughly 343 mps @20Deg.C @ sea level. high frequency waves are very directional, low freq is omnidirectional. I agree with Pasuunam, two high frequency waves interacting with phase clashes which gives lower alias frequencies which they use to create the unidirectional wave you hear. you can hear this effect with two guitar strings tuned slightly out from each other. he used no bass sound, bass would leak from the point of the clash.

  • Hypersonic sounds are used in Psytrance and other music. This is elite stuff. The music industry has just begun to explore this technology. So if you ever get your hands on music hardware, speakers or synthesizers with hypersonic technology then don't hesitate to buy it! It will boost your music tracks and stand out from the rest. But don't be surpised if you walk into a music store, ask about hypersonic stuff and they will look at you in a strange way. It's future technology.

  • It is an not lethal weapon. It can be used on passenger ships when eg pirates r attacking. Imagine what happens if somebody directs 210dB of noise onto you. You dont think longer on anything but get away from the sound source.

  • i dont get it. arent we talking about weapons?

  • they're tryin to say that it can be use in the battlefield , i juz found 2-3 possible ways of usin it

  • 40 million dollars and he is using it to play the sound of opening a coke XD

  • $40 million OOOH. Whats this i've heard on the news about a recession or something(!)

  • 40 million much? Nothing compared to other projects.

  • i want 1 for my ipod

  • absolutely staggering..but how is this going to be used in the battefield?

  • maybe to make people think that their somewhere else

or to knock them down :P

  • it's part of an episode of on a 300 decibel sound gun used to stun people through ear protection.

  • PLAY RICK ASTLY!!!!!! lol

  • 40 Million for this shit? - Adrastea99 was right, the bugger probably bought Porsches, Ferraris, Maseratis, Wiesmanns & paid Paris Hilton to blow him.

  • Ha, a copy of Sennheiser AudioBeam or Mr.Pompei's Holosonics or both.

An array of piezoelectric transducers is what it is - Look up LRAD. This is nothing new. Look up sound from ultrasound on wiki.

If you think this is the first sonic weapon - HA again, look up Nazi Sonic Weaponry.

  • isnt there a name of his invention?? i didnt hear it

  • i've heard of this in advertising sounds pretty high tech and could be used for both good and bad

  • thats 40 million $1 mcdonalds burgers to feed the poor

  • There is no such thing as hypersonic sound. Stop watching future weapons and this bald retard

What this is talking about is short-wavelength sound, which any idiot with a proper microphone can make

The invention here is the microphone, which is just a vibrating piece of plastic

I bet that guy used 39.999 million dollars of the 40 he got to buy himself a Porsche and a hooker, which he banged for eight years

    Nice scam

  • Proof.

    Give us proof.

Or else your statement is invalid.

  • Proof over the internet? You want me to reach out of the screen or something?

Also, proof for what, you were kind of vague
