just out of curiosity is this a liturgical church it i have never seen a baptist church choir robed....or even the pastor..and a altar with candles...it seems like methodist or presbyterian
Almost all churches have some liturgical accoutrement now. There was a time when my church--Episcopal--forbade using vestments and candles until the 19th C.
Now E churches are vested and have rituals which are sometimes called 'smells and bells'. This Baptist church's robes look almost as ornate as Eastern Orthodox. We celebrate MLK Sunday every year and sing this hymn. Dr King is a saint on our liturgical calendar and LEVAS is one of our official hymnals. Spirit filled song!
I was liturgist at our United Methodist church today and lead the unison prayer which was based on the third verse of this wonderful hymn. I love this rendition! Thank you for posting it!
I have been looking all over youtube and have not found another version like this one. This is simply beautiful. This has been on repeat for the past 8 hours. The last part of this song gets me every time.
Awesome and inspiring! Well done! We sang this Sunday at Kenmore (Buffalo, NY) United Methodist Church services as our closing hymn and were uplifted! Thank you for posting this on youtube!
From COSTA RICA: I absolutely enjoyed this one!! Everyone was just inspired!! I like the arragement with the piano and organ but would have liked to hear a full organ for the final verse....
God bless all of you precious people. You've warned my heart with this song of faith written so long before there were certain things. Keep up the good work with His help and in His name.
This was far more than a performance; it was a tribute to the One who has carried us from where we were to where we are. What a masterful balance of organ, piano, and voice. Praise God.
This is beautiful!!! It is interesting that the pastor can conduct choir, congregation, and musicians in the congregational singing. I see your two pattern Pastor. Looks like he knows what he's doing. Kudos! Most pastors can't do that.
Great arrangement and performance! We did it for our church on the exact same day for MLK. I just posted it on youtube. it was interesting to see the same day posted.
Thank you for this. I actually learned as a child how to play the pipe organ. Glad it is nicely featured!!! I have to let my Everett Williams about this clip.
I could kick myself. Everett was in Detroit about a month ago, and I was so busy missed his visit. Everett, tried very hard to reach me, but I was out of the loop. I was organist at a couple of churches in DC. For about 5 years.
I really like this song

Another tremendous piece on the part of the organ and choir - ruined by a percussionist.
